iantruesilver Posted January 24 Author Clone Share Posted January 24 (edited) Louslik Tannery Quietus turned out not to be so very quiet squeezing through the gap in the log palisade, getting some of the rufflier parts of his expensive clothes snagged against the wood, the awkward wiggling and tugging getting himself unstuck making a small amount of noise as pieces of the wood's bark and rough and jagged bits snapping off as he goes. Following him through, the experience was much smoother for Signy and Silas, even though she had put on some muscle since her days working at the yard, she had little trouble fitting through the gap as she had done so a hundred times before. Inside the log barrier, cart furrows and disturbing stains mar this muddy yard. Around the perimeter, murky water pools in rows of sunken tubs toward the south. Unspeakable muck encrusts each vat and half-submerged skins float within. From these scabby concoctions drifts a sinus-assaulting reek — a verily dizzying miasma of rotten eggs, lime, and far worse. Holding her breath as she worked, Cimri quickly secured the other end of the rope tossed over the palisade, and tugged on the slack twice firmly to indicate that it was ready for the skald, expecting her scaling of the palisade to be... relatively unobtrusive. Unfortunately, the result was anything but... From in front of the office at the north side of the compound, a Molthuni Shepherd snaps her head up from the noise, immediately trained to your group's intrusion. Molthuni Shepherd inquisitively takes a step or two toward your group's direction, her growl rumbling deep at the bottom of her throat as she approached, but then a confused whimper escaped her snout as she saw Signy and the brawler gesturing with her finger pointing down. Letting out a soft whine of disappointment, the dog lays down on the ground in front of the office's door, but keeps her snout and ears trained in Signy's direction. Further in the work yard, flickering lantern light illuminates two forms that seem to be moving some pots from a handcart to over to some of the sunken pits. They don't seem to have noticed the presence of intruders for the time being. "Hey, this one's from the Allamar house!" The older man said as he hauled up one urn, his voice loud and carrying across the work yard. "Well holy shit." The woman responded in a dry and unamused manner, before both burst out in a fit of laughter. Subsiding their chuckles, she suggests, "Should bottle it and sell it as a gag." Many such jokes are passed between the two for the next ten minutes or so, before they load up the cart and exit through the gate again, leaving you alone in the work yard with the dog. Why her parents hadn't apprenticed her to a farrier or at least a blacksmith she had no clue. Likely as not it was to keep her siblings from acting out like she had. She quickly checked around before sneaking forward, wishing she had something to at least bribe the dog with.
