Eye Candy (OOC Thread)

I once, years ago, was working on a simple mapping system that would be focused on PbP forum use, but to get active response and dynamic animations and such it needed to be in .svg files (which support javascript within them).  All forum software prevents embedding or linking to .svg files because this capability can be abused.  I went so far as to make a chome plugin that would allow it to recognize a dummy link and replace it with the svg file on the client side - but never completed it.  I got so far as making some dynamic lighting and the ability to move tokens around with arrow keys before changing jobs in 2017 and losing the time to work on it.  Was pretty happy with the results when I stopped though, just frustrated that I had to use workarounds for it to actually be usable.
Sample map from when i stopped working on it: http://clansworth.dyndns-home.com:5080/Map/Map.svg

YZx2TQ6.pngThey are style tags, so they can be added to another element.  Make sure the style string is in quotes, and that there's a closing semi-colon at the end before the unquote.  In this case, I added the float property, with the value of right, AND added a left margin to it of 20px to keep the text from bumping right up to the edge of the picture.

If you go back into source after it's been submitted, myth-weavers does tweak the img tag a bit, adding in a blank image to speed up formatting until the image is loaded, as well as letting you click on the image to see a full version of it - just so it doesn't throw you off if you go back in and look at it again.

I found that just using Table let's you do all of the floating and resizing function. Just make the size and alignment what you want in 1x1 borderless table, then past the image in the cell. Text wraps around it automatically. It's not very intuitive. In fact it, it's probably something that needs an FAQ.

If you pick left or right, it'll snap to that side and wrap text around it. Much cleaner method, IMO, and it looks decent on mobile too.

This also applies to other options within baldr, including tables and fieldsets.

That is nice - wonder if the Myth-Weavers devs even know about that - because I'm note sure I've seen that in any of the BALDR guides.  The CTRL-Right Click is certainly not something someone is likely to stumble upon.

The devs know - I've seen folks mention it in the MW discord. It may not have made it to the new user guide yet or maybe it's just buried in there.  Worth noting that the guid is written by someone different than the dev team. I'll bring it up, just in case it's something that has been missed.

Also, I've seen a tool-tip pop up from time to time while I'm fiddling with things, although it may not show up in all browsers.

EDIT: confirmed that the context menu (aka ctrl+right click) is in the new user guide

Hey gang!  🙂

Apologies, again. I had fully intended to spend some time today working my way through the various character threads and answering questions.  Unfortunately, Mrs Ark got a bit too much sun yesterday and hasn't been feeling well all day today.  Now that I'm home, I'm going to take care of here, and will most likely not be online for the rest of the night.

For those waiting on answers, again (and again and again), thanks for your continued patience.  Anyone who is still working on their story/fluff should continue to concentrate on that, and work the parts of the mechanics you can manage without my direct input.

Recruiting officially ends on Sunday, but I'll most likely spend the majority of my online time Friday night/Saturday looking over apps and working up a short list. Unless something drastic happens, I'll be making my final decision on Sunday, and the team will go on from there (and anyone who still has mechanics to do can finish them up).

Hope everyone is having a good night.

TTFN

Ark

This is my first venture into Baldr, working on a post in the Guildhouse right now... man, this editor is just horrible. I hope there are some great things it does that I haven't discovered yet because as of now it just feels annoying and frustrating to use.

Most people report having to take deep calming breaths every so often when struggling with the editor. I managed to mostly adapt after a couple of days partly through waving goodbye to the way I liked to do things back on OGMW.

@Arklytte: Family comes first. I hope Mrs. Ark recovers well and quickly.

@WarlawkYes, yes it is.  That said, I have an IC posting template that I adapted from one BWatford made (there's a link to a thread he did with a bunch of templates in the header of the forum).  I'll post the template later tonight, and you (and anyone else who wants it) are more than welcome to swipe it.

@dalambThanks.  She's feeling better.  Still tired, but better.  Which is a load off my mind.  🙂

I just realized the hilarity that will ensue if Thrack is shrunk down to medium size (an Su ability) and runs through a beholder's antimagic cone.

Quote

Should a creature be larger than the area enclosed by the barrier, any part of it that lies outside the barrier is unaffected by the field.

So.. enter cone - the cone supresses the sizeshifter talent - Thrack grows to be huge size, potentially larger than the cone.  Parts of huge body outside the cone are still medium size....

Hey all!  Wanted to let everyone know I was still alive.  🙂 It's been a hellacious week, but, fortunately, the weekend looks like it might not be so bad. Decent weather, and a chance to actually relax.  🙂

I'm going to be reviewing apps and putting together a short list over the next day or so.  The deadline is still Sunday at midnight EST, and I will try my best to make that deadline, so that those chosen will be able to start any final work on their characters.

I know there are lots of outstanding questions, but being realistic, at this late date, it's doubtful I'll be able to answer them (again, until the final team is chosen, and then I'll focus on them).  That said, if there are any FLUFF/STORY questions that you have for your character, please post in your character thread and tag me. I'll respond to those as quickly as I can.

I also want to again thank everyone for the overwhelming interest.  There are some truly outstanding apps, and choosing just a few of them is going to be a nightmare.  Thank you all for taking the time to apply, and for putting forth all the effort.  🙂

A further note.  To make my life a touch easier, could all those who feel their app is ready to be review please add a 'Submitted' tag to it?  Ill eventually work my way through them all, but being able to sort them by tag is helpful.

Thanks!  😄
