Season 2, Episode 2 - Consulting the Stones

prophane

Recommended Posts

Vidar tries to dodge but is unable to get out of the way of the swaying, striking serpent arms! One of the snakes bites him in the shoulder, sinking its fangs into his robes and penetrating his flesh. He feels the sharp sting of poison as well.

dodge

Vidar takes 2 HP damage from the bite and needs to roll vs HT for the poison!

HP: 10/10 FP: 6/10 ER: 8/8 Conditions: None

Nodding sharply at the boy, Alvan rushes towards the noise. Presuming Richard will follow, Alvan feels the acrid taste of adrenaline and fear in his mouth, at the back of his throat. He's not made for this sort of confrontation, but of the two of them, if someone takes a swing, he can likely fend it off with a shielding spell or the like. Long enough for Richard to help, or for Alvan to stumble back.

Action: Moving as directly towards the drama as possible.

spacer.pngFili Kober

HP: 11/11 FP: 8/11 Conditions:

Fili isn't sure that beating this man unconscious is the right thing to do, but she really doesn't have time to do anything else. He attacked her, didn't he? And she's gotta get past him to help Vidar, who's fighting what must be a snake-armed demon under those robes.

Not taking any further chances with the man, she continues to deftly use her double-ended staff against his single-ended club to hit him in places he doesn't expect, while no longer leaving him an opening. She won't be any help to Vidar if she lets this guy get through her defenses.

Fili steps up to strike the wounded man, but he brings his club up and parries while stepping back again.

Vidar1.jpg.562274aff80ff0a166deddf6f03815be.jpgBeing in front of the evil wizard, Vidar tried to hit him with a mighty kick, as much to down him as to foil any spell he might be casting of maintaining.

The snake-armed man tries to parry Vidar's kick but fails. Vidar knows his strike connected well, but feels that the man's flesh is as hard as stone, some sort of foul magic, no doubt. Vidar sees that his foe's defenses are lowering due to his wounds.

OOC

GM NOTE: GM edited results directly into this post. Some damage got through, but clearly Vidar thinks this guy has some defensive magic protecting him! He's at 1/2 Move and Dodge now due to accumulated wounds.

Liking the 2:1 odds, Harolde makes an all-out attack, determined to bring this fight to a close sooner rather than later.
He’s likely to consider Hank more threatening, maybe I can take advantage?

The thug manages to avoid Harolde's strike.

Richard also headed toward the sound of the noise with Alvan. Before leaving the room he indicated the direction he just came from and warned the the family. "Hey, you might want to head out down that way. There's a lot of smoke around that the building might be on fire."

Fili and Harolde's targets both manage to defend, though Vidar's opponent takes a hit from the monk's foot. While the damage is not as much as Vidar feels it should have been due to protective magics, the spellcaster's defenses are definitely lowered now.

In the other building, Alvan and Richard pass another door to make it to the far corner. Looking around it they see another hallway the width of the building. There are several covered windows and one door to the left at the far end. The sound of fighting can be heard coming from behind this door.

Behind him, Richard hears the mother and her children quickly rush out and go down the stairs toward the front door.

Since Vidar is now engaged with the spellcaster, Emily tries again to free her feet from being somehow stuck in the stone floor. She pulls and pulls, but is unsuccessful. The thug engaged with Fili starts to raise his club to strike, but instead throws it down, turns and flees. The snake-armed man curses at the fleeing thug and strikes again at Vidar, snake mouths snapping shut trying to find flesh, but fails. He then steps back into the doorway.

Upstairs, the thug again swings at Hank and misses. He takes a step back, maneuvering himself so that both Hank and Harolde will not be able to reach him as easily.

In the next building, Alvan and Richard look down hallway at the back of the building toward the door that is between them and the sounds of combat.

There is room for both Hank and Harolde to fight him, but one of them will have to take an extra step to get into position, unless Harolde changes grip and attacks from reach 2...

Emily

One thug is running away. Emily considers that a win and cheers. Emily fires a shot at the snake arm man. You should run too!

The bolt strikes the robed man once again as he feebly tries to get out of its way. He lets out a pained moan and glares over at Emily then slumps to the floor, wedging himself awkwardly in the doorway. He appears to be unconscious and his snake arms slowly morph back into normal human arms.

Harolde moved his hands, switching his grip to one end of the staff and swinging it low and hard at the attacker’s shins.

“Hank, get ‘im! He can’t block both of us.”

The thug attempts to parry Harolde's low blow but the cleric's staff is too quick. The sturdy oak shaft hits the man's leg with a crack. He cries out in pain and falls to the floor.

Hank grins. It's good to be fightin' with a team!

As Harolde is going low, Hank steps forward and takes a chance, going high, aiming at the thug's head!

As Hank's blade slices the air immediatley above where the man's head had just been, he throws his club down and crosses his arms over his face. "Oy, you've bested me, surrender, mercy!" he whimpers.

Taking the GM's hint, Hank uses a Telegraphed attack to go for the head.
