HP: 10/10 || FP: 8/10

Conditions/Effects: None

Richard felt that this creature could best be dealt with by ranged damage dealers, but his awkward position in the hall meant that he could neither sneak up on the stone snake to attack nor could he retreat any further. So he stayed where he was and called out to try to draw the snake's attention. "Hey, you overgrown worm! Betcha can't get me!"

OOC: Richard took an All-Out Defense maneuver to add +2 to his Dodge. He makes a Fast TalkThis is the skill of talking others into doing things against their better judgment. It is not taught (intentionally, that is) in school; you study it by working as a salesman, confidence man, lawyer, etc. In any situation that calls for a reaction roll, you may make an Influence roll against Fast-Talk instead; see Influence Rolls (p. 359).

If you have Fast-Talk at level 20 or better, you get +2 on all reaction rolls where you’re allowed to talk!

Note that Fast-Talk differs from Acting (p. 174). In general, Fast-Talk is used to get someone to make a snap decision in your favor, while Acting is used for long-term dissimulation. However, there are situations in which the GM could allow a roll on either skill.

Unfortunately, he misjudged the angle and just scorches the wall above the snake's head. The snake turns, and as it does so, the glowing symbol on its head pulses brighter. The entire area seems to vibrate, a nauseating buzz filling everyone. It lowers its head in Emily's direction, then snaps back, a visible shockwave moving through the air toward her. The bolt of force hits the wall directly to her left, creating a crater in the brick wall and sending shards of broken stone flying everywhere. The glowing on top of its head diminishes to just a faint light and the vibrations in the air cease.

it's the PCs turn again!

Deducted 3FP from Alvan's ER for the 3d Flame Jet.. he can keep it active and attack again next round.

Fili's swing goes wild and her staff rebounds off the wall instead of the dragon, making her lose hold with one hand, and she takes a moment to get a firm two-handed baseball grip on it again before giving it another try. Least I din't hit Hank in the back of the head, she thinks.

Oh, it’s not just a snake, it’s also a wizard. Of course it is.
Harolde attacks normally, eager to crush this thing like it deserved.

Harolde's footing, not being very secure, causes him to miss his attack on the snake.

Hank gasps at the snake's attempted attack at Emily. Holy head blast! It's a magic snake!

The near miss on his old friend galvanizes the big lug. "Oh no you don't!" The young warrior swings again at the foul creature! The magic snake tries to dodge but Hank's blade find its target, once again taking a large chunk out of the snake. At this point the snake appears to have lost some of its zest, though it continues to weave about aggressively.

Hank breathes a sigh of relief as the stony jaws snap at him but miss.

"Keep at him! We've got him on his heels!" Hank falters."I mean, he doesn't have heels, really. But he's definitely hurt in'!"

Hank presses the attack but misses.

Since the Snake appeared not to care about Richard's attempts to distract it, Richard gave up trying to taunt it. Instead he reached down to pick up a piece of rubble to prepare to throw at the snake.

OOC: Richard took a Ready Maneuver to pick up or draw an item and prepare it for use (Potentially also taking a step SW to reach the rubble if there isn't any rubble on his current hex)

The slithering, stony serpent tries to dodge, but fails. Both attacks hit nearly simultaneously and the beast crumbles to a pile of stones in the water. As the last crumbling pieces splash into the water, a faint sound, like chanting or singing can be heard echoing from somewhere up ahead.

Hank blinks as his sword misses, but two quarterstaves come crashing down on the stone snake, reducing to a pile of reptile rubble. He whuffs as he catches his breath, a grin on his face.

"Nice moves, guys!" He looks around. "Is everybody okay? Sounds like there's somethin' interesting thataway. Ready to check it out?" Hank turns and prepares to investigate the weird chanting voices.
