Speaks with Humans, flexes her hands and clicks her claws together, perhaps their race's equivalent of rubbing one's chin. She speaks with Torren first..

"My folk have found here a paradise, a world in miniature. A man could be swept onto a place far less promising and think himself lucky to have survived the storm. "

She then answers Raziel .. "The Sahaugin.. " she begins, before spitting.. well something akin to spitting since they don't have the lips for it.. ".. are slavers and raiders.. they see every other living thing as a slave, a sacrifice, a corpse for necromancy or food.

"They are a blight, a scourge. They trade only for things they cannot take from warm dead hands and even then only with those whose power greatly exceeds their own. You see a Sahaugin, you kill it before it kills you. They won't hesitate.. not for a moment."

She turns to Heva, leaning now against a tree for support, looking tired.. "As for their numbers well no-one really knows for sure, but they took losses here and the rumor is they took losses elsewhere between then and now. So, I imagine they are a lot weaker than they were."

"On the other hand, you are new and not settled in. They won't want you to settle, get your bearings, get the walls finished. Then again, if you finish the walls, they'll try to wear you down with skirmishing. Perhaps you should lay down, how do you people say it.. a welcome mat."

She turns next to Theo, noting the attempt at Lizardfolk etiquette with what seems quiet amusement and appreciation...

"Many questions we will not have clear answers to.. our eastern neighbors trade with us but keep us, how you say, 'in the dark about a great many things' and things change quickly. Other matters I am forbidden to speak of until trust is obtained. Newcomers upset the balance."

"Who or what are your eastern neighbors? " Heva asks dreading the answer. Maybe it would be more bad news to add to the growing list of bad news.

Speaks with Humans shakes her head.. "I am not allowed to tell you for the moment. My people consider you to be an unknown quantity who might tip the balance in our favor or tip the balance to our detriment."

She shrugs.. "We've provided you with a good deal of information untraded for.. how you say 'gratis?', so hospitable still holds, no?"

Torren takes a deep breath, regaining his composure. Complaining wouldn't solve anything, even though it does make one feel better. He wipes the sour expression off his face, "Yeah. Yeah you have been very hospitable. We are very grateful. I don't know what you eat, but when we cook you are welcome. I think giant crab is on the menu tonight, for a while I think, ha-hah. Thank you, Speaks With Humans. I can't speak for the people that come later, but I will be a good neighbor." He looks at the others if they can think of to ask the old woman.

"Yes, you have been very hospitable. We cannot guarantee what will happen if we plunder into your unknown eastern neighbor." Heva replies to the woman. The discussion of tonight's dinner suddenly seemed like a last meal for the condemned.

"You got any booze? Or do you know if the previous residents were hiding any? Tonight seems like a good night for a drink." she asks the old woman.

Shrugging slightly, Theo responded dryly to the ambassador's comment on the lack of clear answers.
"I'd be more concerned if you were answering all our questions. Is there anything beyond metal tools and weapons you'd want in trade?"
As he was trying to sell the possibility of them being able to supply more than just the basics to the lizardfolk in trade, the elf was trying to decide the best way to get some raw materials. Even a single pot of Marvelous Pigments would produce a vast array of supplies that would make things easier. He'd have to check if any of the survivors were skilled at butchering animals in the proper fashion... failing that, perhaps a bit more fishing. That'd have to be undertaken a bit more discreetly though.

When the ambassador shares additional information, Father de' Fatale smiles and says, "Thank you. We appreciate the information and your sound advice," Raziel adds even though most of the disclosure regarding the Saghian is already common knowledge in the world.

However, when it comes to reciprocity of the exchange, not only was the group asset poor as a result of being shipwrecked and marooned in these tainted lands, they also had little information to share with the snakelady that her people did not already know.

"Even though we have little to trade at the moment, we can share information with you which we learned earlier today, some or all of which you might already know," the holy man sincerely replies to the ambassador in a solemn tone of voice.

"Since we landed, we have destroyed undead on the beach who were coming from the sea, destroyed undead in the chapel who were likely villagers, and also fought but failed to destroy a group of Ghouls in the big house who are also likely the prior villagers," the Priest of Erastil discloses.

"Furthermore, these Ghouls have dug a shaft leading under the main house, which is filled with water at the bottom and, when the Ghouls fled down the shaft, it was the last we saw of them," the padre honestly discloses.

Raziel smile hoping that the information will be both welcome and helpful to the ambassador before he takes the liberty to speak for the group and concludes with a smile, "We also agree that working together and build trusting with each other is an extremely worthy goal and I'm proud to work with you toward success."

Speaks with Humans nods at all this.. "Humans.. neighbors, you have much to do and so you'd best be about it. Fortune favor you..", she says sibilantly. "We shall speak again soon, in a day or two, for I have to recount this meeting to The People, they have to digest the meaning.", she adds, the People, clearly only a term she uses for her own people.

And on that note, she turns and shuffles up the mound, onto the narrow 'causeway' that rises up to the wall and into the lush greenery and out of sight.

Now that conversation was over, Heva headed back to the village. Except for disposing of the cursed corpse, the entire discussion had been rather depressing.

After Speaks with Humans has concluded her conversation, Father de' Fatale smiles and says, "We look forward to meeting again.  Since the burial mound is far from town, how will we know when you have returned so we can conduct such meeting?"

Next, the holy man solemnly asks, "I hope it's not necessary, but should we have any further deaths in the village, may we continue to use this mound for their interment, and do we need to wait until when you are present to conduct the burial?"

Once the answers to his couple of questions are received and the old one begins to shuffle up the mound, Razie nods at his colleagues and then begins to follow Heva back to the half-destroyed village, while the cleric processes all of the newly gotten information in his head while the group walks to what apparently, now, was home.

It seems like Talks with Humans does not hear. Alternatively, it could be a lizardfolk thing. In any case Talks with Humans does not answer.

Note: The mound is a 100 metres or so from the back of the village.

After the party arrives back at the village, Father de' Fatale smiles and asks, "Well, what is the plan right now?"

"Investigate the rest of the village, scavenge supplies and crab meat from the beach which should be cured, salted or smoked before it spoils, take on the Ghouls again, find a clean water source, or see to some other task," he sincerely asks?

If no one has anything specific that they want to accomplish and, assuming that the crab meat has been secured and somehow preserved or cooked, then the holy man will see to securing and cleaning up the local chapel, so the people have a place to pray and see to their spiritual needs.

Furthermore, as soon as time permits, the minister will eat a bite of venison jerky, refresh himself with some water from his skin, and finally ensure that his blades are razor sharp and, if not, then will use his whetstone to do the job.
