Condition None 

Talk of a mist around the city, instead of being something that caused her shivers, was something she personally welcomed. Concealment is to the advantage of the smaller force, even if it allows sun shy undead more strolling time.

The map too was certainly helpful, the wall was very long, and she hoped climbable. She would prefer it to the gates, which encouraged the mixing of interested, and in this case mutually antagonistic, parties.

Always wanted to be the ruler of a city so at the risk of getting ahead of myself, maybe this is my chance?, she thinks to herself.

Tossing back the hood on her robes "So, a couple of questions. How high are the city walls? In which building is the vault located? Where do the great evils of this place call home? Is the mist just surrounding the city or is it within the city as well.", she asks sounding impassive, like she's discussing academic theory. However, she then turns to the guy in the heavy armor who'd brought up a weakness.. a lack of stealth of all things. "Do you have any facility with stealth on this 'stealthy infiltration mission' or are you saying you're one man band stealthy?", she asks, her voice still impassive.

Baran listened and watched the discussion before speaking up.

"Screw fighting Whaleboner's army."

"The dry riverbed means that cannot sail quickly in or out. If he loses half of his men getting there, he isn't planning to walk out of the city with them. He probably only expects to make it to the vault with a few loyal men. They will shovel the gold into bags of holding, and then he will probably teleport out of there.

Baran looks closely at the map. "We need to get to the vault as quick as possible. Seal the portal, grab the loot, and leave. Trying to get his men killed is pointless since they are already doomed."

Slipping on the ring from the cleric. He adds "I'm sneaky"

Nyll's voice was a little grating, but her response clearly was stating the obvious. "The drinker over there, already said he ain't a silent type, but I can tell from this fellow, his armor is of fine quality metal." as she waves to Baran.

She shakes her head as she looks towards the paladin, "Maybe we should leave the tin can in the far back about thirty paces when we get closer to any structures, then once everyone is safely hidden, he can come strollin in like a squeaky wagon wheel, and ambush anything that comes out to greet 'em."

Shrugging apologetically to the Ranger-looking lady "Straight-up stealth would be pretty weak even if I took the armor off, I do tend to be more straightforward. However if absolutely needed I do have some spells that might be of use, although, strictly personally, I would prefer to use my lack of stealth to parties advantage, moving to the opposite side and being noticed and concentrated on while the party moves behind and passes them. Then, I'll leave those who pursue me and join later...or die. If lack of stealth is a risk to a party overall, my death is just a reward for being dumb and joining."

Rand glances at Baran, observing him just a half second longer than usual before seemingly breaking the spell "Indeed, screw his army, I don't particularly care about it, but seeing Whalebone dead is something I'd want to see accomplished. As I mentioned, if I struck him down while he was just a poisoned stripling a lot of pain and misery would be avoided. If his death could be accomplished I'd gladly forfeit my part of the payment, and throw the life on top. While it is not my responsibility it is my failing. I'd like to rectify it."

He looks back at the map "Yes it is empty of water, I wondered about small wind-powered vehicles I saw further east, kind of Sand Sloop if you will. They are both fast and can be operated by a small crew. If they could be found there, or bought from one of the villages they would be very useful." (I can't find the real name of the Wondrous Item I have in mind, I'll add it if I manage).

As Nyll speaks he nods almost enthusiastically for someone just proposed to serve as bait. "Yes, yes, something like that, see unstealthiness can be an asset too. Although I prefer to think of myself as "clangy" more than "squeaky". Also, I'll let you know our armors are made of the same material, I just haven't oiled my in several...days...weeks... months or two at the most."

Nyll squints at the armor in question, then once again shakes her head, "Looks like a waste to me." she says, "Shoulda gone full coverage if ya spending that much on such preciouss metal alone."

She shrugs as if thinking "whatever" and then goes to examine the map of the city as well. "Well we ain't takin the front gate, that's fer sure." as she studies it further, "Guess we gotta wait and see what's in between us and the city before we make too many decisions."

Rand's bearded face scrunches as he just bit into freshly...produced, dung of a cow that's been fed just lemons. "Yes. Well, I keep it as a reminder of a folly of my youth and to be weary of Halfling traders. On its own it is a great armor, heavy armor under 30 pounds of weight, its equivalent is 55 pounds of metal. It has some unorthodox bonuses, as basically annulled, jump, climb, swim, and some other penalties. And is just 2.5 pounds too heavy to be considered in the light armor category as speed goes. Most importantly, I guess..."

He spread his arms showing multiple times battered and a few times repaired armor "...it works. It kept me safe for close to 3 decades now. My grievances with it...are precisely what you said, I could've paid a lot less and bought ordinary steel Full Plate and it would have worked too, I wouldn't climb as a mountain goat or jump as a gazelle, but as already kindly pointed even in it I'm, a "squeaky one" and when you do the math anyone in this room is faster than me with the armor that has 3 times maximum speed as opposed to mine that has 4. I, basically, shat down the river 8000 gold. A lot of damn waste. That I keep because of sheer masochism I guess." Paladin's deep voice is kinda resigned as if talking about a bad purchase he made decades ago. Now long behind him and not the armor still on him as they speak.

He also returns to the map "You are right, what instead of over the wall we go under, check for the main sewer drain. It's not been used for centuries and as my brother in precious metal said, the river is gone, it is likely completely exposed and dry. Maybe buried some, but easily detectable. We remove ancient bars and we're in." He traces the walls "River is a logical target for a drain, place where either would be no resident to care for stink or no residents anyone cares about." Rand points at the place near the prison "This looks as the close enough, right next to the docks, no residential buildings...The market would be a nice target too but the building of the Newtown might be the issue there."

George can't help but snort at Baran's crude humor. "It sounds like we don't really have a best approach yet, but we have options". Acknowledging Rand he continues "I like the sewer plan, a lot harder to be surrounded and with bait we might manage an ambush".

To Nyll "Agreed that we can't know the best path yet, probably best to ensure we're as prepared as possible and get moving, this is a race after all". With that he starts looking through his pack to make sure he has his climbing gear and general items prepared. "The ruined area might be worth taking a look at as well, depending on how it got ruined there might be some access options, even if treacherous".

Not trying to intrude but also knowing that everyone needed to be on the same pace. "I think the sewer plan is good also, for much the same reason. The makes numbers much less important if you can bottleneck someone. Question is how many of us are good in the dark?"

Mizzi nodded to the suggestion that the sewers would be a good idea "light will not be an issue, I can bring any supplies that will be needed. Sewers were usually kept clean by using some weird creature called an otyugh. They literally ate your poop, so if there are no more questions we should leave" she said as she grabbed her backpack.

Tanith, not much caring about the light issue given that she can see perfectly well in the dark, smiles faintly.. "My name is Tanith and I approve this sewer plan.", she murmurs using a phrase that dishonest politicians use all the time, giving the distinct impression that flippancy is her default setting.

"So, one more time.. where is the vault and where are the demonic and undead headquarters located? If we are to avoid running around like headless chickens, we really do need to know where we are going and where we shouldn't go on pain of death..... or worse." she grins, girly for once.. "Fingers crossed they're not the same place."

Tanith, while deriving some comfort from the expertise of her designated comrade in arms, is clearly intent on the organizing the nuts and bolts of what it will take to get this job done. She's clearly in the 'a goal is not a plan' camp.

Rand nods "Not unreasonable question and also not unreasonable answer, but since this is the last hub here such things might be bought, those who absolutely need Darkvision I saw one or two Goggles of Night on the market, they are pricey but for those who are not clutzes, like me, and would sit on them the first opportunity, they are worth it. I can pitch in 500 gold if someone really needs them, then they would be just 11500 gold short. If that much gold is an issue I suggest that if everyone approves the sewer message, we simply place those without dark/low vision in the middle so they don't get lost and get them off the watch duty, in return they pick up the camp in the morning."

He glances at Tanith then Mizzi and whispers to the closest person to him without really watching who is it "I bet my last flask of wine that precise location is unknown or it would be pilfered already but they do know rough district...and when we get there it will be a false trail."

Nyll takes note of the vault location as well, she is feeling a bit fatigued due to lack of sleep, but managed to get a cat nap in before the meeting. There may be little to no rest once they get in there, fortunately the ring gifted to them will be a major boon in that aspect. She simply has to wait for the effects to kick in.

Looking to everyone in the group, "Anyone else skilled with locks and traps?" she asks, "A second set of eyes may prove useful. Even though it's my specialty, I am not infallible."

Tanith examines the map in silence. It occured to her that the place the priestess had pointed out was likely trapped to hell and back.

"That's one helluva long sewer walk, maybe coming in from the Ruined Section 'is' the way to go' thinks Tanith, the mercenary heist wizard, the thought of a massive pay day, still bouncing around in her head. Still, 'the juice should to be worth the squeeze' as they say. She'd liked that phrase since the first time she'd heard it, in a brothel of all places while doing wine and food taster for a giant slug of a merchant.

The prospect of otyughs was no discouragement.. the corpses of demons that aren't summoned don't disappear from the material when you kill them and otyughs will work for food'.

She shakes her head at the goblin when the goblin enquires if anyone can back up her trapping. She hoped someone else had at least some facility at it, it being an important job. Even so, she finds herself looking at the priestess of Isis who'd just answered her question. Hope you can heal.

She smiled at the thought of the entire company running backwards so Rand could be on the front line.
