Titan

Titan doesn't move and stands firm.spacer.png

"Hello, Detective. My name is Titan, and just as I said, Jessica Anderson gave us the information to talk to you about the Crusher's rampage in the absence of the Crusaders. The city is already experiencing their lack of presence, and we aim to ease that strain. Please, let's share what intel we found so far, and let us help. The sooner we get rid of the Crusader's threat, the sooner we can put our efforts into finding the Crusaders."

Aegis keeps his hands up as he slowly moves out from behind Titan and moves to stand next to him.

Perhaps we should start from the beginning. We were all invited, several weeks ago, to come meet with the Crusaders this morning with the hopes of being asked to join. When we arrived the building was locked and we met the reporter Jessica Anderson. She informed us that the Crusaders were missing and asked if we were there to help with the Crusher trouble. She suggested that we come here and talk to you sir and see if we could be of any help to your department in taking down the Crushers.

I am Aegis and I have helped some of your law enforcement brothers outside the city limits from time to time.

We just want to help.

He then stands there and waits to see if they accept or say no. He will be disappointed if they say no. But he will accept it and before leaving will give the Detective his contact info just in case he changes his mind. (The number is to a burner phone he has and uses as Aegis, not his personal one.)

THE MONITOR, The Quantum Man

rauhric_green_lantern_cyborg_tron_matrix_cyberpunk_1.png

The Monitor nods in confirmation to the statements given and adds:

"It is as they say it is, Detective. We heroes are here to help. May we help you with the Crusher problem?" He knows in this type of situation diplomacy is always better than force, but his voice is sometimes so emotionless that it seems difficult to believe that he is capable of being empathetic, much less sincere.

The Monitor

COMPLICATIONS

Motivation - Doing Good
Possessing a strong positive outlook towards life allowed Mitchel to never succumb to the darkness of his fate, and when he was able to create an artificial body to house his digital consciousness he was nothing but grateful for the opportunity to continue living a 2nd Life. This feeling of gratitude and goodwill makes him want to share his thanks with others.

Motivation - Responsibility
Because his new body makes him more than human he feels obligated to use its abilities to better serve humanity for the common good. Never one to openly advocate violence he understands that force must be meet with greater force in order to stop it; though if he is able to find another solution he is willing to explore that first.

Weakness - Quantum Entanglement
Mitchel suffers from an incurable disease that has left his consciousness trapped inside his paralytic body, and because his digital consciousness is quantum entangled with his moral body if anything were to happen to his paralyzed body that would result in death would his digital conscious also share the same fate? It is unknown but highly plausible that both consciousness would perish. When the mortal body finally gives out it might also end the existence of the digital consciousness as well?

spacer.pngSILVER SHRIKE sheet

The quick jaunt across town was refreshing. She always loved moving across the city, it felt so freeing, as brief as it usually was. Somehow when she was leaping through the air, spinning, tumbling, and just "being," all of the concerns or worries seemed to fade into the background.

This was slightly different of course. Titan bounding along through the air, more raw power and less skill but getting the job done regardless. Aegis clinging to him with each bound and change of direction. The Monitor cutting through the air on his platform in silence and the Custodian as well, all of them together. Being with others was a new thing, something she began to really consider.

With the Crusher threat and no sign of the Crusader's proper the officers responses was easily understood. She remained quiet for the beginning of the exchange, despite having some political experience she'd never been a good public speaker. The irony had never been lost on her and there was a running joke between herself and her father about how she often became distracted or unfocused while giving speeches or dealing with the press.

Aegis was clearly a better individual to deal with the police. Whether it was familiarity, training, or some knack he seemed quite comfortable speaking with them. She did speak up eventually, hoping to be of some immediate assistance to local law enforcement, "And detective... if there are any injured here I'd like to offer my assistance. I can certainly spare the time to assist our local public servants, regardless of the Crushers concern." New to the business she'd none-the-less quickly been recognized for her capability to heal. One of the first things she'd started doing here in the city was visiting serious fires that had large scale deployments, healing the injured and helping however she could. She'd always been supportive of public servants and emergency services, well aware of their part in a functioning city.

9:20 a.m., Downtown OPD Precinct

Detective.png.1cb1d12704028e12d6b4f40a721133b5.png

Broykowski looks as if he's thinking it all over then mutters something to himself before, "Alright, EVERYBODY STAND DOWN! Clear this area! Get back to work, people - we're on the clock! Jansen --- Pike - take those people to my office." The detective returns inside along with most of the uniformed officers, while others prepare to leave in their cruisers. Two officers, holstering their firearms, gesture for the heroes to follow them and the group walks into the precinct. Inside is busy with officers and detectives moving around hurriedly but all giving the heroes a long glance. A couple of people in handcuffs are being escorted into or out of doorways! Going up a flight of stairs the group reaches an office mid-way down a hallway and the two officers wave them in - the heroes notice a few yards away Broykowski talking with another older man in full dress uniform with Captain's bars on his collar and they both give the heroes a long, hard look.

The office is decent-sized with a large desk covered with paperwork and folders and pictures. Other than a small desk frame of the detective with his wife, son & daughter, the other scattered pictures were:

F.I.S.T..png.83aaaf6341bf65245515604c9076fa3d.png

Merc.png.add05ae7c3c38d9926fc592dccc6db01.png

Vulture.png.4ef2c7e0c5ca48860a7a885cf349aa91.png

There's two sofas one on either side of the doorway and two chairs, one in front of and one behind the desk, a coffeemaker in a corner and a tall plastic plant with Christmas lights wrapped around it another corner. On the left and back walls are Broykowski's many awards and degrees along with pictures of himself with certain people, included the captain he was just talking to. On the right wall is a large white-board covered by a pulldown screen. The floor 's carpeted with that Stainmaster™ semi-shag that's popular among modern offices.

Broykowski walks in and closes the door, "You can make yourselves comfortable, if you like." He walks to his chair behind the desk, sits and looking at the heroes exhales a short half-sigh, half-laugh, "You're lucky my memory isn't as bad as my cooking: a few weeks ago Manta-Man told me the Crusaders would be holding 'try-outs' for new members. With all this recent chaos I nearly forgot, but now here you are. Must of been a real pickle when they weren't there to greet you this morning? You're double-lucky that Anderson was there to point you in the right direction. So, I imagine you folks have codenames? And, since Enforcer isn't here to grill you I'll ask; why join the Crusaders?" Broykowski sits back, turning down the volume on his waist-radio and watches the heroes closely ...

Titan

Titan doesn't sit down as he doesn't want to damage any of the property even accidentally, furnitures

spacer.pngtypically can't handle his increased mass, so to stay on the safe side, he takes a standing position in front of Detective Broykowski and extends his hand for a handshake.

"Thank you, Detective, the situation started to get really heated out there. The name's Titan, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Titan tries to "place" the detective but based on his posture, decent communication and no-nonsense demeanor, he quickly deems him a  trustworthy fellow. Someone they could rely on for now, amidst the chaos the city is seemingly descending into by the minute.

"It was indeed lucky to run into Miss Anderson. First she almost scared us with a looming possibility of a proper interview, but when she saw we meant business, pointed us to your direction. As to why we want to join the Crusaders..I'll refrain from talking for my friends here, but my goal is be able to fight the good fight on a larger scale. I want to show the Crusaders, and the city, as well, that I got their back, no matter the crisis we're in. I'm here to handle the problems, and in that regard, I can safely say, we all are. When we heard the Crushers are on the loose, we knew we had to step in - while the Crusaders deal with their own problems, we deal with Crushers. Just let us know where we are needed the most right now."

With that, Titan takes a step back to sort of blend in the background, however unlikely it may seem to anyone in the room. But he notices the scrutiny the're all under and wants to let the others shine, as well. "I don't know how long this will last..but it does feel damn good to be on a team again.", ponders, as he takes a quick glance around the office.

Once Titan is done, Aegis steps forward.

I am Aegis. It may sounds cliche but I was given these abilities that set me above the average person and I feel the need and drive to use those abilities to defend those that can't defend themselves. I seek justice, not revenge. I wish to help bring those who abuse their powers and use them to hurt others, to justice.

THE MONITOR, The Quantum Man

rauhric_green_lantern_cyborg_tron_matrix_cyberpunk_1.png

The Monitor answers the Detective:

"I would assume for the same reasons you and your Police join this organization, Detective; to be a service to our community with talents we possess. May we be a service to your Police in helping stop and apprehend the Crushers?" The Monitor understand the Detective's motivation in questioning them, but he knew their answers would not truly contribute to changing the Detective's opinion of the individual heroes. Only time can build trust, and as of right now there has not been enough time built to ease the Detective's mind about the heroes true intentions.

spacer.pngSILVER SHRIKE sheet

The others had said almost the same thing as one another. It wasn't really a surprise to Alex, after all, it made sense. Wanting to help others and having the power to actually do so at the same time. She felt like they'd left an important part of it all out though.

"Hello there detective, I go by the name Silver Shrike." She nodded. "I think that what hasn't been said at this point, really, is that we're all interested in joining up with others, as a larger group, so that we can help more. Have more impact. And do so more safely at the same time." She shrugged and shifted forward on the couch.

"After all, we're all wanting to help people. We've all got abilities that let us do exactly that in fact. But being candid we're simply more limited if we're on our own. We can't be as effective at helping people. By combining our abilities with a group such as the Crusaders the good we can do increases drastically. It does appear that perhaps we'll need to work as a group on our own if the Crusaders are currently unaccounted for especially as it seems the Crushers are causing problems right now." Here she pause briefly before continuing, with a slightly worried tone to her voice. "Perhaps that will have to be another thing we look into, finding out where the Crusaders have gone to."

Custodian

Morgan remains standing, looking not too unlike a statue as he does his best to stop from fidgeting. He thinks for a moment at the detective's question, letting the others speak. Once the rest has said their piece, he finally speaks. "I'm the Custodian. There's a bunch more titles attached to my station, but they're not too relevant. I... have a responsibility to the planet, and the people on it, to keep it safe from certain threats. Teaming up with... likeminded individuals with their own skills and abilities is the most effective way I have of fulfilling my duty." He shrugs after this, adding: "On a slightly less grandiose point... I want to help out and work with heroes, even if it wouldn't help me in my duties."

9:25 a.m. Broykowski's office

Detective.png.1cb1d12704028e12d6b4f40a721133b5.png

Broykowski sighs and stands, "Sounds like your hearts are in the right place but .... I'm hoping you can handle yourselves. Contrary to what you've heard, the Crushers aren't simple criminals - they're terrorists. Take a look ..." The detective gestures for the heroes to approach his desk and hands them the pictures of the Crushers.

Titan

Titan takes a good look at all the picturs presented and sniffs.."Yep, I had the displeasure of the one in the spacer.png

first picture, but I didn't catch his name..or him, as a matter of fact. That is one nimble bastard!"

Thinking a few seconds more, he says: "Though my powerset would better work against the third one, I guess..yeah, what a cutie. What was his name again?"

Custodian

Custodian leans over, more fluidly than could be expected judging by his armour, to look at the pictures. "Haven't had any run ins with any of them, but... I've done my research, I know who they are and what they can do... mostly." Morgan taps the picture Titan indicated. "That would be the Bull, and hardly a cutie. You'd probably be the best to handle him straight on, yeah, though you'd have to be careful. You and Aegis both." He glances between the two, "He goes by Bull for more reasons than just his physique. Not a big fan of red, he is. Deadly, too, in a 'will happily kill' kind of manner, that is. All of the Crushers are deadly in their own right, really..."

9:26 a.m. Broykowski's Office

Detective.png.1cb1d12704028e12d6b4f40a721133b5.png

The detective raised an eyebrow and seemed surprised at Custodian nodding in agreement, "Bull is most certainly too dangerous to play around with, much like the Mercenary ..." he pointed at the gun-wielding crook, "... he's also a killer who hangs around the Crushers for any big score he can snag a piece of. And he's FAST --- like 'there one second gone the same second' fast. We don't have much more on him, but the Mercenary has military ties at some point in his past just based on how he operates." He points at the flying, armored person, "That's F.I.S.T. - stands for Flying Infantry Shock Trooper. He's got a long list of federal offenses and fancies himself some kind of 'revolutionary'. Frank Streeter's his real name and he isn't as cold-blooded as the others - more of an idealist with the wrong ideas, you know?" Gathering the pictures, Broykowski goes on, "The female is the Shrew - Sheila Brewster - a former female MMA champion, until she got hooked on Meth and kicked out. She ended up running with low-rent drug lords for years until her 'big break' with the Crushers. Don't let her fool you: the Shrew's a metahuman with unnatural strength, reflexes and exceptional close-combat expertise. The last one is Vulture: he's a sadistic creep who ended up with bird-like abilities after some black-book geneticists used him as their guinea pig." He tossed the photos on his desk, sighed again and stretched a bit. Turning back to the heroes he focused on Custodian, "These Crushers have hit two of the top Tech-companies in the city, almost with complete impunity - they didn't even care that they were caught on camera. Imagine the gall! Our own tech-specialists are guessing they aren't done, though ---" Broykowski walks over to the covered whiteboard on the right wall and pulls the cover up, revealing split-level maps of a building!

ManningEX.png.24038e82f3a950ae35994da0c62acd3c.png

"Manning Enterprises. It's the very best, state-of-the-art technology company in the region - and we're pretty sure the Crushers are saving them for last. They've struck twice and with no response from the Crusaders, it's safe to assume they'll be emboldened to go after the best equipment they can get. Our guys think the Crushers are definitely building something - what it is though, we have no clue." The door opens and the Captain walks in accompanied by a familiar face - OPD S.W.A.T. Commander Wes Jacoby (Jacoby is a well-known critic of 'capes masquerading as local law-enforcement' and has had several public confrontations with the Crusaders - and maybe your heroes)!

Broykowski welcomes them as the Captain looks the heroes over saying, "I don't know about this, Vic. We just did a little digging on your 'team' here and they seem a bit inexperienced to be dealing with this kind of threat. Last thing I need is a massacre on WOTV - at Manning, no less ...."

Commander Jacoby waves his hands at the heroes, "You know how reckless the Crusaders are -- now you're thinking of turning this group of rejects loose in Olympolis?!? Who are they?? Can we even be sure they aren't working with the Crushers?!? NO! No, no, no. Just let my boys do what they're paid to do: I've already briefed my squad leaders on the site and they have both the munitions and tactics to execute a perfect -"

"Massacre! Just like the Captain said!" Broykowski says, "There's no way S.W.A.T. can even slow down, let alone stop, guys like F.I.S.T. and Bull. Your precious AP ammunition will just p*ss them off! You really want to get your men slaughtered, Jacoby?!? At least Custodian and his team have a shot at this - you've seen the files we have on them - you know what they can do."

The S.W.A.T. Commander and Detective go at it in a burst of angry words, but the Captain interrupts, "Gentlemen! Calm yourselves! This is neither the time or the place." Walking over to the heroes, Captain MacAllister looks them over closely and asks, "As you can clearly see, opinions of so-called vigilante activity in Olympolis have their own strongly-differing POVs. The Crusaders had to earn our trust and it wasn't easy: Detective Broykowski, myself and even the commander here put our careers and reputations on the line backing them -- and they never made us regret it, whether we always agreed with their tactics or not. Now, they're probably off running around outer-space and YOU all are here. Now ... it's YOUR TURN. Understand that the very fate of this city may hinge on your ability to overcome one of this planet's deadliest collection of criminals. I've been to war with Detective Broykowski before because I know he loves Olympolis, and like myself, he hates to lose. So he picks winners, and if he's willing to ride with you folks, so be it. Commander Jacoby will provide tactical support but the detective has operational jurisdiction: our friends at the FBI are in their usual 'wait and see' position .... Now, we have mapping of the facility and we're setting up a midnight stake-out. Figure three S.W.A.T. units - 16 armed and armored men - within range but out of harm's way. Another 12 OPD officers even further out and serving as clean-up for arrests.  What additional information do you need?"

Broykowski and the Captain gaze at the heroes while Jacoby rolls his eyes ---

All Players

The lower level (2nd) and 2nd-level (1st) maps for Manning Enterprises are above: the main lower-level entrance is the southern double-doors between next to "W". OPD thinks the Crushers will target the Computer Room (marked "CM") on the 1st level and the Electronics Room (marked "EE") on the 2nd level. I can post a complete key to the maps if players want it. OPD tells the players that Manning security will not be on-site tonight AND Broykowski doesn't want OPD officers involved while Crushers are still running free. SO the entire operation will depend on the heroes. What are your ideas about positioning in or around the building? Please ask IC or OOC if you need more info as I'm sure you will.

Titan

Titan is scratching his jaw, deeply lost in thought. "Boy, do I have a lot of questions..". With a huge sigh, he continues.spacer.png

"Alright, what we know about them is bad enough what the unknonws are what could make us end up dead. We need solid tactics."

He walks over to the board, and with a "may I" look on his face, takes a pen and starts to point on the map.

"So, we do know that together they make a cohesive team, a deadly one at that. Given that some of them have military background, I think it's safe to assume that they also know how to work together, how to take formation and cover each other's back. Now, do you think if we could isolate them one by one? Say, take a flier one first - we need to keep him on the ground, give him a thorough pounding, hand him over to the fine officers here. When done, move on to the next one. Do you think it could be done? If so, how do approach this? We also need to account for the possible points of entries."

He starts taking small steps in front of the board, a habit of his when getting deep into his thoughts.

"We could pose as security, for one, how about that? Around and in the buildings, mabe? Also, which area", and points to the map again "could serve for isolation? If we move in that direction, how do we isolate them in the first place? We need an actionable plan. From a far, can the SWAT povide us overwatch? But I'm getting ahead of myself, please excuse me."

And he just waits for the others to comment.
