Jessie echoes Bochs suggested strategy saying, "Yes! Get everyone out of here! We'll cover your withdrawal!" Nodding affirmatively at the newcomer Dwarf, the diminutive rogue continues to use the rocky corner of the cavern wall as cover as she stands ready for action.

With her fancy short bow in hand and loaded with a sharp metal-tipped arrow, Jessie is ready to attack the foul water nymph should the acid-spewing creature show any part of its body above water as she covers the retreat of her colleagues.

Even as the tiny Halfing stands ready to shoot the water borne foe if needed, nonetheless the rogue's training has her keeping one eye and her ears also attentive to her surroundings, watching and listening for the sight or sound of movement or anything unusual in the immediate area.

Jessie Tosscobble III's AppearanceJessie is small standing at 2 foot 8 inches and weighing a mere 27 pounds. As such, the lass intentionally keeps her brown hair long to cover her halfling features, which allows the rogue to pass herself off as a small humanoid or even young human or half-elven child when convenient or necessary.

Dressed dark purple clothing, which is overlaid with attractive black leather accoutrements, Jessie keeps the paraphernalia of her 'profession' secreted upon her person, and especially the authorities, except when in use.

Her friendly blue eyes and warm, sincere smile are disarming and allow the lass to paint a picture of a young girl who is completely unintimidating by all appearances, an assumption often made by others which suits her well and which she actively cultivates.

To promote this look of youth or innocence, most of Jessie's weapons, alchemical doodads, pack, and other equipment are kept hidden under her clothing and also by her large heavy dark green cloak.

Moving quickly, with Jesse and Bochs keeping an eye out, you manage to scramble up the stairs, Aeruiel carrying a wounded and burning Rodin over her shoulder. Upon exiting into the afternoon sun squinting, Kethra quickly moves to tend to Rodins wounds and though it takes her some effort, manages to bandage the remaining burns and halt his deterioration. As a cool breeze blows over you, chilling you as the adrenalin begins to fade, you looks around at each other and wonder what's next. Kethra chimes in.

"It'll be long before Rodin can heal these wounds without divine aid. We should make camp and rest. I can heal the worst of these wounds after next I pray to the Lady if she grants me her blessings and the Power."

Jessie brings up the back of the formation as the injured Rodin is carried out of the underground complex after being so savagely burned by the foul water creature's nasty acid spital, guarding the rear flank with her loaded short bow in hand.

Once the group is back topside, the rogue whispers, "I'll scout the oak tree room and then wave you in once it's clear." Assuming such is agreeable, the tiny rogue quietly moves forward using the rubble and walls as cover to peek inside the room with the tree to verify it's all clear.

If she doesn't see or hear anything unusual, then Jessie will quietly enter the room and move through in a quick circular pattern that will allow her to see every nook and cranny in the oak room before arriving back at the open doorway and waving her colleagues to enter.

While the group moves, the tiny Halfling will cover the party until everyone is safely in the oak tree room. Then after quenching her thirst from her waterskin, Jessie falls back from the open doorway and climbs on top of the rock where she sat last time.

Once she is in position and has eaten another pocket biscuit, the cutpurse establishes a protective overwatch for the group, watching and listening for the sight or sound of movement or anything unusual in the immediate area allowing her colleagues to safely attend to other matters.

Aeruiel Moonshadow   Half-Moon Elf Barbarian from Ashabenford

Aeruiel watches over Rodin with sympathy as she has had to see him get repeatedly hurt in their brief adventure. As Jessie announces her plans she asks her Halfling companion, "If you get a chance can you talk to that "tree" creature and find out some more information about this weird feud between it and that thing underground? There has to be something more we don't know that can help us."

OoC

Aeruiel is referring to the creature in the tree that they are suppose to behead for the other creature in the water below.

Other than that I guess she will take a watch as they rest here long enough to get Rodin up again.

AppearanceFemale half-elf, age 17, blonde, blue eyes, fair skin, 5'-7" tall weight about 125 lbs.

Kethra shakes her head in the negative at Bochs' offer.

"It is good to know, but my Power is limited and my wand almost depleted. If we are to remain adventuring much longer, we may need that potion sooner than later.

Come, help me move Rodin under that tree."

As she moves to do this, Jesse moves to watch the surroundings, and almost immediately hears a voice in her head. It's intonations are alien to her, but she suspects it sounds concerned.

Jesse's Mind

"What has happened to Rossal's elf friend..?!"

As she converses with the unseen entity, likely the creature Rodin had mentioned speaking to, you all settle in for some rest as the adrenalin in your bodies begins to fade.

Even while her colleagues get some much needed rest and attend to the fallen Rodin, Jessie sits on top of the rock with her bow in hand, at times closing her eyes and simply listening for the sound of movement or anything unusual outside of the oak tree room as she 'rests' her eyes.

However, the diminutive Halfling nearly falls off the boulder when she a voice inside of her head 'startles' her back to being fully awake as her mind races with more questions than answers before she realizes that this must be the creature whom Rodin said he could communicate with by thought.

Settling down, Jessie quickly reloads her fancy composite short bow as she resumes her watch and then, once she has re-established solid perimeter security, the tiny rogue will think back through the link to the invisible creature in the old oak tree, doing so slowly so it can understand her more easily.

Jessie's Mind

Jessie thinks, our Elf friend tried to get by water creature who had called for your head after we refused to harm you.

Then water creature spit acid on many of us.

It spit acid on our Elf friend so many times that Elf friend almost died.

We barely escaped.

Now Elf friend so harmed he cannot wake up without healing help.

It is at this point later in the afternoon, the sun is beginning to set and cloakfall is close to being upon you.

Aeruiel Moonshadow   Half-Moon Elf Barbarian from Ashabenford

Aeruiel uses this time to investigate their area a little further. In her mind she is thinking about expanding the already open entrances to the underground compound. She is thinking that is they go back to town, pick up some supplies they can start excavating here. maybe bring in so more light into the underground so they can chase away those dirty little kobolds.

She also thinks about how best to handle the giant ants. They are a natural creature here so she just wishes to deter them from coming after her and her companions. Maybe there is some ant poison or repellent that they could use to get it to stay away from them. If they need to exterminate the ants then so be it; their shells would make great armor.

And as for the water creature. She would rather avoid it all together, but it seems inevitable that they will have to encounter it again. It has proven to be a formidable opponent so they really need better information on it and how best to beat it. She thinks maybe luring it out of the water or even poisoning the well might be an option. She would rather not poison the well since it is a valuable water source, but they need a way to get the creature to level the water, and they need a way to neutralize the acid. Maybe someone back at town would have a good idea about that. Plus, they really need more supplies.

That evening as the sun begins to set she brings up the option of going back to town to her companion. "I would like to go back to town and get some more supplies. What say you all?"

OoC

I would like for her to move to area 2 and just examine it. This is the area she is thinking about opening up the ground to get some more to light underground.

She will Listen there.

Then she can move on down to that patch of grey they have not uncovered on the map. She will use her Spot there to see what is there.

Then she will Search that area for anything interesting or a clue.

She does all of this while there is light and then reports back to her companions and tells them her plans to go back to town for supplies.

AppearanceFemale half-elf, age 17, blonde, blue eyes, fair skin, 5'-7" tall weight about 125 lbs.

She is described as a willful and free spirited young woman, who likes playing pranks, and flies into fits of rage when bullied.

Nearing the small sinkhole, Aeruiel quickly gathers from the damage around the perimeter that this is where Morn and Bochs fell down into the tangle of deadly vines below. The damage to the edge of the sinkhole warns her to keep her distance.

Looking around the corner of the ruined central chambers, she spots a loose pile of rock and sand heaped against a corner of the wrecked curtain wall. The mass forms a semicircle roughly 10 feet wide and at least as tall as a hin. Three holes, each large enough to admit a human, dot the top of the mound. Her keen eyes also notes a hole in the curtain wall off the side of the pile from where she stands.

Its about this moment that a voice shouts out from behind Aeruiel just about the same moment that Jesse notices the elven figure standing at the gate over the large brush between her and the figure. The elf bares a general resemblance to Rodin, light toned skin though with dark blue hair. He is sporting a breastplate and a blade is sheathed at his waist. In his hands is a bow, though no arrow is knocked. A sheath full of them sits at his hip.

"Vedui. Or mayhap well met? Might we approach your camp?"

From her perch, Jesse can see another elf, this one keeping his eyes on the landscape outside the ruin, similarly armed but with silvery blue hair.

When Aeruiel leaves the chamber to investigate the ruins, Jessie climbs down off of her rock and repositions at the broken doorway with bow in hand so she can keep an eye on the half-moon elf as she explores the area and whispers, "Please be careful."

Even as she stands watch, Jessie continues to mentally communicate with the yet to be seen creature living in the oak tree chamber.  However, once Aeruiel is back safe and sound, then the Halfling will return to her previous position on the rock and resume perimeter security.

Eventually, as the sun begins to set which signals the coming night and chillier temperatures, Jessie pulls her cloak a bit tighter about her neck while she continues to mentally communicate back and forth with their invisible host.

Turning to her colleagues, she says in a soft voice, "Cloakfall is nearly upon us.  Soon we will need lighting, especially some at the entrance to this chamber unless our guards have darkvision."

Continuing to whisper, Jessie adds with a hopeful smile, "I think we can also build a small fire to cook, and keep those not on guard duty warm, in the far corner of the room where fires have been struck before."

However, when the tiny rogue detects an Elf approaching the oak tree room, Jessie sits up in attention but does not raise her bow, after all there was plenty of time for that. Instead, Jessie whispers to the group, "We've got visitors. Ready yourselves!"

Jessie's Mind

Jessie thinks, 'It might be an unseelie farie.  I've never seen one before,' she adds before describing the creature from the pool in detail the best she is able.

'None of us can fly and the water creature won't let us walk past.'

'Plus, big ants block the other way. What other choices do we have to reach the kobolds?'

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

' I realize you called it names but have you or the water creature ever disturbed or tried to attack each other,' she later asks after allowing the invisible helper to talk about the layout of the underground?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Later, Jessie thinks through the mental link, 'It seems to hate you and I can't figure out why since you seem so nice.'

'Can you please tell me why it is so angry?'

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

'Also, you said that you have flown past the farie.'

'Please tell me what lays past the farie's pool?  What did you see?'

'Where does the passage lead,' she asks after trying to learn the nature of the dispute between the two creatures as requested by Aeruiel?

Aeruiel Moonshadow   Half-Moon Elf Barbarian from Ashabenford

Aeruiel nods in acknowledgement to Jessie as she goes off to explore a bit. Considering how much damage exist around the sinkhole she thinks with some good digging tools they could really widen that hole really quick. It is an idea she wants to explore further if they head back to town. That pile of loose rock and debris might be some mound for an animal or insect. It might be a good idea for the team to wall off that section to make sure nothing disturbs them later on. Looking around this ruin she sees potential for a campsite here. This area pleases her.

Upon hearing the voices announce themselves she returns to investigate. With her back straight and head held up high she asks, "What are your names, strangers?"

OoC

She will keep a close eye on these strangers - mainly keeping an eye on their hands and eyes to determine if they are coming in close to sneak attack them.

AppearanceFemale half-elf, age 17, blonde, blue eyes, fair skin, 5'-7" tall weight about 125 lbs.

She is described as a willful and free spirited young woman, who likes playing pranks, and flies into fits of rage when bullied.
