"Talking will be better than fighting," she adds knowing full well how dangerous 'fey' can be. "Also, fey are often tricksters, so let me check for traps as we move." When Maximilian kindly offers Jessie a cold iron dagger literally the length of her entire arm, the tiny rogue looks up at the 'Tall-ie' with a grin and says, "I'll let you know if I need that long sword!" "Nonetheless, thanks for the offer, but I'm good," the diminutive Halfling adds in the same lowered voice. Once her question about communicating is answered, then the tiny burglar looks at Aeruiel whispering, "Cover me while I work!" Sneaking quietly ahead and leading the procession, Jessie intentionally pauses at the opening of the adjacent ruined chamber with her loaded sling in hand and silently watches and listens while using the door frame as partial cover. If she detects no movement or anything unusual, then the rogue will quietly check for traps before moving forward into the room looking for any clues such as bones, feces, holes, cracks, or other unusual features or hiding places. OOC Jessie Tosscobble III's AppearanceJessie is small standing at 2 foot 8 inches and weighing a mere 27 pounds. As such, the lass intentionally keeps her brown hair long to cover her halfling features, which allows the rogue to pass herself off as a small humanoid or even young human or half-elven child when convenient or necessary. Dressed dark purple clothing, which is overlaid with attractive black leather accoutrements, Jessie keeps the paraphernalia of her 'profession' secreted upon her person, and especially the authorities, except when in use. Her friendly blue eyes and warm, sincere smile are disarming and allow the lass to paint a picture of a young girl who is completely unintimidating by all appearances, an assumption often made by others which suits her well and which she actively cultivates. To promote this look of youth or innocence, most of Jessie's weapons, alchemical doodads, pack, and other equipment are kept hidden under her clothing and also by her large heavy dark green cloak. They don't make is six steps into the ruined chamber before the two's nostrils are assailed by the scent of offal and three very large beetles, easily the length of a large human each, climb up from behind the rubble pile at the south end of the room. The beetles have orange heads, thoraces, and legs with dark blue abdomens. They immediately turn to present the rear of their abdomen! OOC Note 1: Expecting beetles, no one is surprised. Fortunately, most of the party were still outside of the room and the rogue knew that the rest of the group needed to either leave or protect themselves from the squirting attack that was being threatened with the bug's display! Calling out to her colleagues, the burglar yells, "RUN! THEY"RE ABOUT TO SPRAY ATTACK," as she fires her short bow at the beetle closest to Aeruiel sinking her arrow deep into its rear end and then her short legs churn in furry as she runs out of the room taking cover outside behind the wall! As thehy reach the room, and Jesse calls ojut a warning about beetles getting readhy to spray, she moves diagonalh to put the wall between her and the insects. AppearanceTall, thin and blonde; the young 's woman's bone structure speaks to her proud Illuskan ancestry and the fierce warriors and sailors who founded her bloodline. The young scholar has eyes like the sea after a storm and a fair complexion made pale by hours and hours in ivory towers. Scholar by nature and librarian by training; Kethra is a bibliophile, almost as passionate about books as she is about her goddess and the magic that Mystra brings to the world. Sometimes tending to be a know-it-all, the young Illuskan often has to moderate her superior-seeming attitude by being an affable person and an able negotiator. AppearanceMaximilian is a tall, slender, bookish young man with slightly tan skin and the brown hair and eyes common among Chondathans. His clothing is simple and understated, but very well-tailored and well-made, as would befit a noble who isn't attempting to advertise wealth to others. He wears a high-collared, brown woolen overcoat over white collared shirts (often frilled collared shirts). The rest of his clothing is simple, functional, and well-tailored, and he keeps them immaculately clean with prestidigitation. But then he realizes the group is going to be staying here for a little while and they can't risk being attacked by these things when they are weakened after another fight. So he fires at the center bug. His aim is true and the arrow sinks deeply into the beetle. OOC Elven Lowlight vision, so he can see 40' a if full lit rather than the normal 20 of the torch. Will take 10 on Spot and Listen checks for a total of 15 each when not in combat. It gets a +3 bonus if any of those are applied to Drow or large spiders. AppearanceRodin stands at 6 feet tall and appears a bit more muscular than the average elf. His skin has a light brownish tan look to it. His hair is brown with streaks of copper highlights through it and hangs down to just touch his shoulders. It normally has a bit of a wild windblown look to it. His eyes are a medium green which reminds most people of the color of leaves. He wears studded leather armor that has been dyed a camouflage pattern of browns and greens. His cloak is held closed by a brooch the shape of a silver arrow with green fletching. Aside from his dagger on his belt, the only weapon he carries is his longbow, which looks a bit thicker and sturdier than most bows. As the bulk of you move to cover and await the beetle's actions, Rodin chooses a more direct tact and fires an arrow at one of the beetles. The arrow does indeed sink deep and cuts Aeruiel's objections before she can utter them. As you hold for any retaliation, the two uninjured beetles scuttle forward down the pile of rubble and turn to present their posteriors, which immediately expand and release a cloud of noxious vapors that engulf Rodin and Aeruiel and threaten to sear their delicate skin! Aeruiel, suffers the same fate, barely dodging out of the way of one cloud only to find herself engulfed by the other. The beetles seem poised to blow yet more of the acidic vapors. Once in place, Jessie loads another arrow into her fancy short bow and then carefully takes aim before releasing the wicked looking razor-sharp tipped projectile at the bug in front of her fallen buddy, 'Roadie,' even though she's not allowed to call him that ever again!
