Jessie stops instantly as soon as she comes to the edge of the water, being so short and not knowing of its depth nor its danger it just seemed best to avoid those issues before they even started.

Quickly switching her sense of direction, the rogue moves to the opposite wall and retraces the path taken by her buddy, Rhodie, into the darkness of the fog cloud using the glow of a newly lit torch to easily guide her way.

As the diminutive Halfling quietly moves forward, Jessie keeps her eyes and ears focused on the surrounding environment watching and listening for the sight or sound of movment or anything unusual in the caverns ahead.

Jessie Tosscobble III's AppearanceJessie is small standing at 2 foot 8 inches and weighing a mere 27 pounds. As such, the lass intentionally keeps her brown hair long to cover her halfling features, which allows the rogue to pass herself off as a small humanoid or even young human or half-elven child when convenient or necessary.

Dressed dark purple clothing, which is overlaid with attractive black leather accoutrements, Jessie keeps the paraphernalia of her 'profession' secreted upon her person, and especially the authorities, except when in use.

Her friendly blue eyes and warm, sincere smile are disarming and allow the lass to paint a picture of a young girl who is completely unintimidating by all appearances, an assumption often made by others which suits her well and which she actively cultivates.

To promote this look of youth or innocence, most of Jessie's weapons, alchemical doodads, pack, and other equipment are kept hidden under her clothing and also by her large heavy dark green cloak.

Note 2: Added the area of the fog for reference. However, none of you can see its extents IC. The fog obscures all sight, including darkvision, beyond 5 feet. A creature within 5 feet has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker can’t use sight to locate the target).

Anyone ending a turn in the cave and the bottom of the stair must succeed on a DC 15 Fort. save or be:

Remaining quiet and trying to concentrate on preparing to hold his breath and not vomit, Maximilian prepares to follow behind Aeruiel and looks back to make sure that Kethra was still behind him. He wasn't sure how his raven would fare, but being a carrion bird, he suspected that the creature wasn't as likely to mind as he was.

Maximilian is indeed nauseated, but he manages to keep his meager break fast in and with Kethra on his heels, you soon find yourselves all standing along with Rodin a narrow, naturally carved tunnel. The fog behind you fades away just as you pile into the tunnel. Before you, Rodin's torch illuminates only darkness and more tunnel which even Rodin and Aeruiel are unable to see the end of with their elven sight, though it is clear to both that the tunnel opens up some up ahead.

Proceeding forward carefully, the ghost, if indeed there was one, seemingly behind you. The damp cavern soon widens up and reveals an intersection of two tunnels, one wider than the other, branching off the larger chamber. Down the wider tunnel, a hint of daylight from above illuminates a cluster of varicolored stalactites and stalagmites.

While Jessie and her buddy, Roadie, stand quietly in the smoke-free caverns awaiting the arrival of their colleagues, the diminutive Halfling rogue strains her ears for any sounds of movement or anything unusual, knowing full well that sounds will be amplified and will echo in the cavernous underground chambers.

Armed with her fancy masterwork short bow, the tiny burglar stands watch as she temporarily establishes a makeshift security perimeter in order to allow the rest of her colleagues to move forward through the noxious fumes to the open caverns beyond.

Once the group has re-assembled, Jessica quietly moves forward staying slightly behind Rodin, covering the lead scout with her bow as the party explores forward, only pausing once the group reaches an intersection of two passageways.

Trying to remain as quiet as possible, Maximilian follows along behind Rodin and Jessie. The two seemed to be far more experienced in these types of situations than he was, and Maximilian was focused on deciding which spell to cast if something sprung out at them from the shadows, missing his wand now more than ever.

Jessie nods affirmatively when Rodin indicates that southern passage is the group's first tactical focus as they continue to explore the underground portion of the ruins whispering, "Follow me."

With her loaded fancy short bow in hand, the diminutive Halfing quietly sneaks forward down the south tunnel watching and listening for any sight or sound of movement, traps, or anything unusual ahead or above.

Jessie moves forward cautiously and in the light of the torches behind her and the hole in the ceiling of the cavern before her, she finds she's come upon a scene of unexpected beauty. A veritable forest of varicolored stalactites and stalagmites cover the ceiling and floor of a rough-hewn cavern. The rent in the ceiling lets in the late morning light from the surface, dappling the scene in a hazy sparkling and a profusion of viny plants grow among the stalagmites on the floor, with a tiny, swift stream flowing through it all.

As she pauses in appreciation, all of a sudden the vines nearest her swiftly twist, and entwine about her legs and torso struggling to hold her fast and causing her to become entangled!

Note 1: Jessie must succeed on a DC 13 Relfex Save or become entangled. If she succeeds on a the save she is not entangled but can still move at only half speed. Otherwise she can break free and move half its normal speed by using a full-round action to make a DC 20 Strength check or a DC 20 Escape artist check.

Jessie is surprised by the unexpected beauty of the cavern and unique environment laid out ahead of her featuring multiple varicolored stalactites and stalagmites that cover the ceiling and floor and which are illuminated by light from the surface through a rent in the ceiling, along with a profusion of viny plants growing around a tiny, swift stream flowing through it all.

But what surprises the careful rogue the most as she sneaks forward is when the vines nearest her suddenly and swiftly twist to entwine about her legs and torso in an attempt to entangle Jessi and hold her fast, as the foliage is animated either by magic, or worse an inherent bloodlust for the Halfling's flesh!

Emitting a high-pitched squeal when she is entangled, Jessie calls for assistance excitedly saying, "Help, I'm trapped by attacking vines! Careful all!" After the insipid plants have trapped the Halfling, Jessie uses all of her efforts to escape from the clutches of the nasty foliage before things get worse. Unfortunately, she nearly escapes but the vines reassert their grasp trapping her further!

Rodin halts moving forward when the vines attack Jessie. He quickly reaches around and pulls his rope off the side of his backpack and tosses one end towards Jessie.

Grab this and we will pull you out. Appears we found where the little fairies live.

Let's pull her out of there and go check out the other passage and leave these guys alone for now.

Even though she is trapped in the death grip of an insidious begonia, Jessie still ear-to-ear when Rodin moves forward and throws her a life line. I knew my old buddy would save me, the diminutive Halfling thinks to herself. He's alright, well for a 'Tall-lie' anyways!

Once she is able, Jessie foregoes another escape attempt and instead ties the rope tightly around her waist and ties it off in a bow-line that won't tighten against her empty stomach nor loosen as the party works to pull her free of the attacking foliage.

When the rescue line is secured and ready, the tiny burglar will nod in the affirmative to her friends as she uses her reflexes and strength to try and move out of the entangling vines back into the relative safety of the cavern passageway from whence she came!
