After a moment's hesitation, Aeruiel, Kethra and Maximillian join Rodin's attempt and much to Jesse's relief, the effort is successful and she is pulled free and back from the writing vines that seem to subside almost as quickly as they'd leapt to bind her.

Per Rodin's recommendation, Jesse regroups and the party moves to explore the further tunnel. At the edge of the torchlight, the narrow tunnel seems to split. Neither Jesse nor Rodin make out any sounds from down the passage.

When Jessie is pulled free from the strong grasp of the insidious vines, the diminutive Halfling smiles as she breathes a big sigh of relief and says in a lowered, but excited voice, "Thank you very, very much for saving me! Those damn vines nearly swallowed me alive," she adds which probably seems true given her tiny size compared to virtually everything else in the entire world!

Next, the small rogue pulls a leftover biscuit out of her cloak pocket and starts munching it to calm her stomach down, as well as her nerves for a moment. After washing the quick snack down with a pull of water out of her waterskin, Jessie gets back to normal and quips while grinning ear-to-ear, "Well, after that, I'm never going to look at salad greens the same way ever again!"

After a brief moment of much needed levity, the group heads back to the other tunnel to continue their exploration in order to avoid the foul vegetation that had trapped the cutpurse in its 'green-grasp.' Sneaking ahead of the group near the edge of the torchlight with her bow in hand, Jessie freezes in place when a split appears in the tunnel ahead and instead searches the ground for evidence of use as she waits on the party to reach her forward position.

When her colleagues are near, Jessie points out the two paths, including anything she noticed regarding marks in the dust on the floor, a disturbance in the cobwebs on the walls, or if either tunnel has a noticeable air flow or weird smells and then also whispers, "Which way to you favor checking out?"

While awaiting their group's response, the burglar stands silently as she carefully watches and listens for the sight or sound of movement or anything unusual ahead in the surrounding environment, including any weird smells detected by her sensitive, slightly bulbous Halfling nose.

Dressed dark purple clothing, which is overlaid with attractive black leather accoutrements, Jessie keeps the paraphernalia of her 'profession' secreted upon her person, and especially the authorities, except when in use.

Her friendly blue eyes and warm, sincere smile are disarming and allow the lass to paint a picture of a young girl who is completely unintimidating by all appearances, an assumption often made by others which suits her well and which she actively cultivates.

To promote this look of youth or innocence, most of Jessie's weapons, alchemical doodads, pack, and other equipment are kept hidden under her clothing and also by her large heavy dark green cloak.

Rodin breathes a sigh of relief when they manage to pull Jessie out of apparent Entangle spell. He gives a little laugh to the halflings joke and then when she is ready he follows her down the other corridor until they reach the split.

Well, if I am correct, the passage to the right would lead in the direction we wish to go so let's try that way first.

He readies his borrowed bow, but really misses is lost one and hopes they can get it back soon. He feels naked without it.

Ash she creeps forward, it quickly becomes apparent to Jesse that the right passageways loops around back to the daylight dappled, vine filled chamber from which she had barely escaped a few minutes passed. The angle of the narrow caverns prevents Rodin's torch from revealing much of the passageway she's passed on her left.

When Jessie realizes the layout of the tunnel system and the fact that the right tunnel merely leads back to the vine-filled chamber in which she had recently been entangled. Quickly backing off, the diminutive rogue falls back to her colleagues' position and whispers, "We should investigate the other passageway. This one leads back into the creeping vine room," she adds with a slight shiver at having recently been helpless in their greenish-grapple.

Even though she rarely made too many decisions for the party, this one seemed obvious to the tiny Halfling as Jessie recommends in the same hushed tone, "I think we should check out the other passageway now. It seems like a much better option," she quickly adds not wanting to re-enter the seemingly sentient botanical garden of death if it's at all possible to avoid.

Assuming everyone is in agreement, then Jessie will backtrack to the other hallway and then, once again, take the lead scouting slightly ahead of the party but also staying within the range of their torchlight so the Halfling burglar can see ahead. Sneaking slowly forward, the cutpurse carefully watches and listens for the sight or sound of movement or anything unusual ahead in the surrounding environment.

Jesse backs up and with Rodin stepping forward to light the short passage, her keen practiced eyes note an outline in the stone face at the end of the tunnel that is clearly not a natural part of the rock.

Carefully stepping forward, eyeing the walls, Jesse is caught by surprise when she feels the slight depression in the floor at her foot and immediately realizes she'd missed something!

A spiked grate set in the ceiling, the spikes molded to match the stalactites, swings down threatening to impale her and settles with a loud clang to block the passage behind her. Wounded, she is pushed by the grate's passage further into the narrow passage, leaving her between the grate separating her from the others and the wall at the end of the short passage.

Jessie realizes her fatal mistake the moment the tiny Hafling feels the floor shift mechanically under her feet which triggers a spiked grate that swings down and impales the small lass. Even as her body is battered and bloodied by the heavy steel, the diminutive rogue thinks to herself, Well girl, you gone and stepped in it now, as the sound of her bones being broken into pieces vibrates up from her torso and echoes inside of her suddenly aching skull!

Unfortunately, the trap also has a worse effect since it forces the diminutive rogue's savaged body into the passageway ahead of the group, which now had Jessie trapped away from her colleagues and alone with the stone face aberration she had easily detected and yet somehow surprisingly ignored when the burglar made the fateful decision, which was contrary to her normal personality and training, to push forward with no information about the strange situation whatsoever.

Trying her best to jump out of the way, amazingly enough Jessie again seems to pull off another of her 'patented' miracle as the Halfling's luck somehow allows the rogue just enough room to spring out of the way and avoid most of the sharp spikes, while also relaxing her body enough so that when she is struck by its heavy steel frame a significant portion of its destructive energy is deflected away from the most vulnerable parts of her miniature body, thus saving her life which now is only hanging by a thread at the moment!

Once the Halfling's head quits 'ringing,' Jessie immediately assumes a crouched position hiding in the shadows as the injured rogue tries to slow her breathing while searching the immediate area for any large cracks, pockets, fissures, overhangs or other features in the nearby rock walls in which she might take shelter should it become necessary to 'hole-up' for protection, while also keeping her eyes and ears focused down the hallway away from the party watching and listening for any movement or anything unusual.

NO!

Rodin quickly rushes forward and grabs the spiked grate from the back side and starts to pull on it to lift it up and allow at the least for the halfling to join them.

Help me lift this. If we can get it out of the way and let us join her on that side, but at least make it so she can rejoin us.

From her vantage point, a wounded Jesse can make out nothing more than the outline she's noticed before in the stone at the end of the small cell she now finds herself in, trapped between the end of the narrow tunnel and the metal grate.

Rodin's efforts to open the grate reveal it to be locked tight, apparently having locked when it fell in to place.

Having caught her breath, Jessie remains still as she crouches in the shadows next to the wall which is adjacent to the spiked grate that had ravaged her tiny body. Only after the bloodied burglar ensures that all is quiet in the passageway ahead will she finally dare to make the slightest move while remaining in her impromptu hiding place.

Slowly and quietly turning her head toward the party, the rogue makes eye contact with Rodin to let him and rest of the party secretly know that she is still alive and kicking. With a forced half-smile, Jessie once again turns away from her colleagues as she resumes her watch and listens for movement or anything unusual in the passageway ahead before acting again.

Assuming all is still quiet, thereafter the diminutive Halfling again quietly turns her head toward her friends and whispers one word, "Hurt." Next, the severely injured burglar slowly and carefully reaches out and sticks her tiny, bloodied hand partially through one of the nearby holes in the grate hoping that her colleagues can heal her injuries before things escalate.

While waiting to be healed, the trap smith looks over the spiked gate mechanism to determine how it works, how it locks and, most importantly, how it can be unlocked in order to free herself. Nonetheless, even as the Halfling silently works her craft to try and unlock the trap, Jessie will also continue to listen for the sound of movement or anything unusual ahead in the hallway where she is currently imprisoned.

There isn't much of anywhere for Jesse to hide in the small cavern stump behind the grate with the light of the torch in Rodin's hands shinning through and back to the wall at her back. Fidgeting with the ancient locking mechanism on the grate, Jesse feels some progress as well as sensing the lock must be tied to a switching mechanism somewhere nearby but out of her sight. Some more fidgeting might be necessary to loosen the lock.
