As the group continues down the trail they come across an area with decorated trees. Feathered bundles and strange fetishes hang from the lowest branches of the trees in this part of the forest, swaying and shifting in the wind. All are stuck through with small pins holding pieces of leather bound around them.

At this point, after the distinctly unnatural cold and snow at this time of year, the kidnapping of the noblewoman and its various traps associated with her raided caravan, Keanu is instinctively a little bit on edge about the whole affair.

 

All these other things didn't make it any better. Nodding his agreement to Rasan's statements, he kept a vigilant lookout toward the front as he continued to lead the group along the tracks, stopping just as the strange fetishes came into view.

 

Quirking an eyebrow, he tried to remember if he had seen anything similar to this in the recent past, while scanning the immediate area for anything that might indicate this would be another "surprise".

Kaine detects no evil auras, but the group does realize the 'fetishes' are actually crows that have been killed and hung in the trees.

 

Three toothpick sized objects zip out from either side of the group, targeting Kaine, Keanu, and Rasan. Two of them miss, but a tiny little arrow strikes Rasan

The group sees three diminutive, winged, blue, faintly-glowing folk with bows in a tree to the left of the trail. They are attempting to re-hide after sniping at the group and doing a pretty darned bad job of it.
