Yasei

Having gotten to see the others fight, Yasei had a little idea on their combat powers and felt that they were fairly equal in strength. There seemed to be no one who lacked ability within this pack which was a good sign. Moving with the Ox cart forward, Yasei sniffed at the bodies and the horses. They didn't smell fresh, something about the meat had an odd scent to it. "Shame.. Wasted meat. The bounty of the hunt should go to those who were active in it. I still make sure to step forward next time. Perhaps we will see other such creatures ahead... These roads may not be as safe as others have thought. Rhigoxus you seem trained in that blade. Most impressive, glad to know such a warrior is with us during this trip. Fatih and Grimfang as well showed might. Yasei needs to show her might too, soon in next counter please let me take initial charge. I will bring worth great victory for us!"

Searching the Bodies

Faith searches the two fallen Lizardfolk she is nearest to and finds little in the way of wealth. They each have a club, one has a Heavy Shield, and they have a pair of javelins stuck point-first in the ground ready to use.

Grimfang discovers likewise, although one has a gold ring on one of its scaly claws.

Anyone that wants to can make a spot check.

"Well now buddy, you are an efficient construct." I complemented the Dragonforged Charger as I assisted in the clean up, noticing the ring, I commented "what does anyone make of this?"

As far as I could tell it was just a gold ring. Kind of nice, might fetch a decent price at the market, but I really couldn't tell anything. Oh what the hell, I placed it on my finger anyway to see what would happen.

Rhigoxus hears the words spoken by Yasei and responds with his logic. "Your participation in what you describe as the hunt, was protecting the wagon in order to ensure there were no additional attackers." he says, "Therefore, you have equal rights to the meat you so desire."

He looks to the horses then over to the lizardfolk, uncertain which meat Yasei was referring to. "I do not require food or sustenance, I am what one would call, a living construct." "I relinquish my share of the meat."

Rhigoxus simply nods his head towards Grimfang accepting the compliment.

Yasei

Looking towards Grimfang who happened to have held up what looked like spoils of war, Yasei shrugged at the trinket. "It looks to be something one wears on their hand? I assume it is loot for the victor from the vanquished? I do not think much of it.. Unless it will help us survive I have no desire or interest."

 

"Hmm.. I suppose. The one who stands guard is not one who hunts.. Either way next time I Shall participate. The meat here is spoiled and no longer of interest to me.. Fresh at the kill and cleaned is what I desire. Perhaps next time. Let us move if we are finished with these... chicks."

Looking down at the bodies in scorn, Yasei continues walking alongside the Wagon as they are to continue forward while paying a little more attention to the scents in the air.

As the group were gearing up to start again I switched my aura to something more useful for scouting purposes.

ActionChanging my aura back to Senses: +1 Bonus on Listen and Spot checks, as well as on initiative checks, equal to your aura bonus.

Clearing the Way

As the others keep a watchful eye on the surrounding area, concerned for a second ambush, Rhigoxus moves to drag the two horse carcasses out of the centre of the road. They are relatively easy to drag, although the various bits of tack and harness jingle and scrape against the numerous small rocks and stones.

Whilst he is moving the second horse, one of the saddlebags rips open and a number of personal effects and small items are strewn behind the dragged body.

Yasei

Seeing one of the bags rip open and pill out a few items, Yasei makes her way over to look at it. Likely there wouldn't be much of important but perhaps she'd be able to pick up another scent to watch out for. As she stands over the items, she picks them up one at a time and sniffs at them before sniffing into the air. Anything that looked dangerous she's leave alone and anything with words printed on it she'd offer to one of the members who'd likely be able to read. Perhaps Sir Grim as he seemed rather proper in his behaviour. "Perhaps something to learn from our would be attackers.. Or perhaps the people who perished here."

Wait, there were treasure sacks on the horses... that thought had not occurred to me. I thought I'd take a look for another sack of treasure on the unattended horse. "Why would they leave treasure?" I asked idly poking around the other dead horse. Could be a trap within a trap which would possibly indicate something smarter than lizard men running things.

So I tried to keep a weather eye out to see if there was another trap... but you know treasure is distracting.

Rhigoxus observes Grim and Yasei begin searching for more trinkets from bags found on the horses. "I would deduce some fleshbags prefer the hunt and the taste of flesh over the value of material objects."

"If you require that I move a horse further, instruction to do so will suffice." he says.

Faith began to move the cart forward and then had to stop as some treasure spilt out onto the road before her, watching as it was scooped up by Yasei Faith continued forward until she had passed the obstacles. She then stopped the cart to await the others, patience it would seem was her middle name.

One man's trash...

Yasei picks up a few of the items from the road and presents them to Sir Grim, who is keeping watch around them.

 

Switching roles, Sir Grim looks over the items; a tinderbox with a runic GR engraved, a set of tools containing small hammers and picks as well as small, narrow vials some containing liquids, some with small rocks in, and some empty; a no-nonsense comb and brush set, hardly likely to be found on a lady's table but perhaps used by someone who likes to keep their hair free of briars and the like whilst in the wilds; and finally a small, leather-bound book with the same letters stamped in to the corner.

 

It contains handwritten notes and scribbles, at a quick glance much of it is hard to decipher but it is clearly the work of one person. There are small sketches that might be mountains, perhaps parts of maps, lists of percentages, somethings have been crossed through. Flicking to the final page in use there are the same sort of scribbles and lists and the word Phandelin circled near the top corner.

As the wagon was pulled just beyond the two downed horses, Rhigoxus stood there silently, if there was a thought in his mind, he showed no evidence of it. He stood motionless as a statue, but his eyes still had the soft yellow glow, and the sense of chill causing condensation on his metal frame.
