At the repeated commentary about Rhona Staelish's desirability, Cimri finally snapped at Signy. A few moments later, she turned to the others and said, "We should probably just case out the place first, check out what the people are even saying and all. Maybe see if there's anything we can use against the priestess if it comes to that..." The Church Square After the other three split to do whatever the heck they were all so eager to do, Cimri quickly ducks behind the corner of the nearest building in an attempt to avoid being noticed. A couple of suspicious glances was all it took for her to realize that didn't quite work, so turning to Claudia and Zoya, she pointed out the church's grounds with its wrought iron fence, the square with the well and the tall wooden post, then quietly indicated an abandoned shop with a second story window overlooking the square, and a wide alleyway that looks like it enjoys some cover from the shadows. Not far from them, Bertram stands against a wall as he takes in the steadily growing crowd. Further, Silas notices the signage in front of a building, "Three Bands Cooper". Looks like the place has been boarded up. At the post, Signy sifts through some messages. One says "Messages by Crow! Remesina — 8sp. Senara — 3gp 6sp. Lumber Camps — Rates Variable. Inquire at the Jackdaw." Another reads "Get gold for historical items. Appraisal at Longacre Historical Society." Another makes a bold claim, "Woo her heart with a bouquet from Trellis! Satisfaction guaranteed." One more, "Puppies in need of good home. Adopt today at Kemmaino Market." And finally, "Help Wanted — Must have stamina and clean feet. Details at the Arch and Lark." After a little while, he feels a hand wrap around his arm, and he finds himself in the company of Claudia, gently escorting him toward the shadowy alley, "Cimri said to go check out that way..." Having removed his sash for the time being, Bertram manages to mingle with the crowd a little bit, at one point hearing one of local rubes say to another, "Fex doesn't like the townsfolk gathering in large groups like this y'know. Allamar's message must be pretty important if she's willing to provoke the archbaron..." Moving into the alley, Zoya climbs the rickety staircase leading up to the second floor of the abandoned "Three Bands Cooper". There, she finds that a locked door bars the way into the space containing the upstairs balcony. A few steps behind her is Cimri quickly catching up as she asks, "Any luck?" Kemmaino Market Having zipped away from the Church Square for a short time, Signy finds her way to Kemmaino Market, where some fresh produce is being laid out for sale. Darlyne Kemmaino looks to be busy arranging some tomato that appear particularly plump. When asked about the ad, she's directed toward the back of the store, where Darlyne's husband Huxlam brings her to see a small dog inside a cage. Not strictly a puppy anymore really, as it is fast approaching its adolescence, the dog looks like it will require new living arrangements soon. Nevertheless, the Molthuni Shepherd looks to be healthy and, when allowed out of her cage, seems high of energy. The only thing is, she seems to persistently have her tongue sticking out of her snout. "Listen, between you and me, if you want her, I'll sell her to you without even making any profit." Huxlam says, "She's perfectly healthy, I can vouch for that, but everybody wants a puppy, and she's starting to grow out of that now see..." "What do you say, a hundred and fifty gold?" Claudia muttered as she sidled a little closer, pressing her bosom up against the blonde man's elbow. "I don't know, she just told us to come check it out." Pretending to walk leisurely down the alleyway, the raven-haired half-elf places her head on his shoulder part way, as they each eye their surroundings. The whole of the alley seems to be shaded by the surrounding buildings, keeping the light level dim. Around the corner where the alley connects out to Seward Street a block from the Church Square, there is a donkey and a cart that looks to be unattended for the time being. The cart is loaded with four casks of wood tar. The Church Square "Y'know friend, that's just it right? What's so important that she gonna risk puttin' a curl on Fex's mustache hey?" Though Bertram gets the feeling that this immediate crowd isn't likely to leave, he's at least put some doubt in their minds as to questioning the motive behind the priestess' planned speech. "Y'know what I'm sayin'?" Three Bands Cooper Getting right down to business, Cimri makes quick work of picking the lock on the door, which when opened reveals an empty second-story apartment, with a window providing an unobstructed view of the church square and the temple beyond. Not only would this make for a good spot to view the speech and the audience, it would indeed make an excellent platform to offer rebuttals as well. "Prime location for a sniper's nest." Cimri comments as she takes stock of the view from the window. She doesn't linger though, and starts heading back toward the door, "Let's go, we can come back up here after we work the crowd a bit." Kemmaino Market At first Huxlam turns a face as though he would back out of the sale, but then after a short while he sighs and capitulates, "Ah heck, what's a couple gold worth of stuff huh... Here, take'em. She's yours." She carefully put away the food she was given and opened the crate, blocking the exit with her body as she fastened the collar and lead. "Come on girl, we have to get back before they notice I disappeared." She left the lead loose, only tightening against it when the dog tried to go a different direction. She made sure to keep her pace at a jog and make sure the young dog knew where the food was as they moved. Training would... take a while. But with the pay they were getting now? She could afford time. Signy smiled to herself, she might even have the perfect name for the dog.
