Niko lifts the girl up and carries her inside, then takes a moment to bury her face into the girl's hair and sniff around the base of her neck. It would seem creepy to anyone who doesn't know her but she would accept that. "Rest child, if your friend lives, she will be returned to you," she says before rushing outside and transforming right away.

 

"Souris, take his scent and I will seek the girl's."

 

OOC: I get advantage to track people anyway so I'm gonna take one of the rolls. Niko will set her fastest pace of 40ft unless it becomes clear she's outpacing anyone, then she'll still range ahead but periodically howl to mark her location and slow down enough for the others to catch up.

 

Edit: lol turns out my tracking skills are terrible despite being a werewolf and a monster hunter because no Wis.

"They're sisters, Niko." Adds Murdain. "Scent oughta be similar... But I dont think we'll need it. Only one bloody house these uglies holed up at. 'Fore we set out to hunt the Chaos Beast, we saw the lot of them murdered by the Skorn..." He jogged, though had to put in some effort to not fall behind. "...Either a few escaped, this lot's never been human, or someone's used necromancy to bring em back. Cannibal lot. Never allowed in town." He brought her up to speed as they moved. "I know the rough layout of their estate. If it comes to it, can grab Ethel an' sneak out."

Half an hour later and Niko and Souris stop in the woods. There are signs of fighting here, damaged bushes and grooves in the ground from feet moving forcefully. You find an abandoned pack in the mud. There's a strong scent of blood in the air here. If it weren't the twilight hours, it'd be much easier to- something moves in the woods. You hadn't detected anything nearby but the moment you hear the twig snap, you hear a horrific screaming howl and then more men rush out at you.

 

These men resemble the one in town. They're horribly deformed heads and mouths, limbs aren't even and sometimes they have awkward angles to them. They're fast though! You hear them and then they're on you, moving at the speed of predatory cats at a sprint.

Murdain growled when he smelled the blood-scent. It brought to mind unpleasant moments - Aria's discarded pack had only added to it. But it also held opportunities... He needed to get it. But first... The voice excitedly howled in his mind, the word barely distinguishable. Out flew the wolf-knife, and Murdain's mouth twisted, repeating the same incomprehensible phrase, knife blade dancing as it carved a silver rune in mid-air. The night air shimmered, distorting, pressing down on the five creatures and forcing them to move slower. He darted forward, grabbing Aria's pack and falling back a bit.

Aria's pack contains:

 

2 potions of greater healing

1 potion of possibility (Gives the imbiber two rerolls on any die they cast until used)

1 elixir of echoes (Drink to cast mirror images on yourself, this does not require concentration but you also cannot end it early)

3 smoke bombs (As an action, you may throw this item to a point within 30 ft. Upon landing, it produces a smoke cloud that causes the area within 20 ft. to be heavily obscured. The smoke lasts for 10 rounds unless removed earlier by a heavy wind.)

 4 balls of... something. It's some kind of rocks of crystals wrapped very tightly in very thin, almost tissue-like paper, and twisted close. You've never seen anything like this before.

  You know she has an entire alchemy lab that unfolds from a small case in the bag without having to unfold it.

 

 There is also lots of components for potions and spells, just a wide range of exotic materials she's collected.

Where was Ethyl, she stopped to attempt to pick up a scent, there was blood, but as for whose blood and where they went, there was no time. The frantic freaks were flying towards them at impossible speeds, so bounded forward to meet them, tearing at them with massive maw and claw.

Aaliyah holds up the hand with the slave bracelet she took from Sylvania. All the gems turn a bright red instead of her usual green and she extends her hand towards the right most man. Her fingers are curled into a twisted claw and three rays of concentrated fire come from her fingers. "Oh, I got some new magic. Hope I don't turn into a giant squid monster!"

 

 

OOC: Casting Scorching Ray at the bottom right most guy with all three beams. I lied! I'm ALSO going to quicken a sorcerous burst doing acid damage at the same guy!

Niko stops and the pack and gives it a good scent before the screaming starts and she finds herself being run down. Seeing the others already acting, she rushes to meet the charge and slashes at the nearest man. Her sword couldn't kill them outright but she needed to down one quickly.

Barkvin struggled to keep up with the fast pace as the group raced into the woods. When the creatures raced out of the woods he was worried. The men take a beating but they don't seem to feel pain. No, that's not right. They relish in pain, each blow makes them yelp but it's not a pained grunt but an exultation. While Niko and Ved manage to deflect their attempts to leap onto them, Souris finds herself being overrun. Two of the men just jump on top of her and begin biting at her.

 

Chunks of bear flesh is torn off.

 

OOC: Souris takes 30 damage! I need 3 DC16 Con Saves or... I'll tell you later. Carry on.

The fight wasnt really going their way, given the way Souris was being mauled, but with her having downed one of the these things, and acid having worked on them before, he dashed over to the fallen form and pulled his right glove off, the skin beneath erupting into a furred claw. With a swipe, he dragged the claws across the neck of the fallen form, leaving pooling acid as the claws struck. Once the creature looked dead enough, he fell back to his old position.
