The farming town of Blackpipe is so named after a large adamantine pipe sticking out of the middle of its fertile soil. This cylinder juts out of the ground at a height of fifteen feet, is wide enough for a an adult human to squeeze down, and ends in some kind of iris-like aperature an additional forty feet below ground.

spacer.pngVelen led the parts of the group inquisitive enough to care about the mysterious can inside the storage shed, pointing toward the far corner where a small grey metal and glass container sits alone atop of a crate. There is a blackish grey substance inside.

 

Vri Only

Some explorers have noted that the aperature opens and closes at random times, allowing access to some mysterious complex within.

It's a huge pipe, I think made of adamantine, because of the color which pokes up out of their fields. Purportedly people can walk into it to a respectable distance before coming to an apparent end."

While you have not heard the various rumours about Blackpipe like the others have, a quick look at the mysterious canister tells you immediately that it contains something called "nanites".

 

For some, something like this is considered a power source for some types of technological devices. Others posit that the stuff can be found in the bloodstreams of androids, although you have no concrete evidence supporting such a claim, nor do you have any indication what effects would befall an android should they attempt to consume this substance.

Rain looks over at Violet thoughtfully. “Some say that nanites can be found in, and presumably extracted from, the blood of androids. Though we have yet to see anyone successfully prove such a claim. Regardless, this may well have drawn the machines towards this place. We should take it with us. But I wonder, what was it powering within the Pipe?”

"I would be very careful with that stuff," Vri suggested, "as long as we're not sure what it exactly does, I would keep it inside that jar."

Now they knew what it was, or at least had a name for the stuff, she didn't have much more to do with it. It wasn't in her area of expertise, so she decided to let it be handled by those who had a better idea on its properties. She headed back outside to help with the removal of the body of the farmer, so his wife wouldn't have to do that.

spacer.pngReacting to Rain's speaking to and addressing her, Violet rose from Val's side and joined the rest in the storage shed.

 

The android looked at the canister for a moment before stepping closer, and as she approached, a bright purplish light suddenly began to glow under her skin in what looked like veins or weird tattoos, the colour of it reminiscent of her name. At the same time, her eyes grew pale white, the pupils clouding over at the same time.

 

Violet ignored Vri's warning as her body continued to move toward the canister, as though she didn't hear the half-elf at all.

 

Just then, as the android girl gripped the canister in her hand, all the outward signs of weirdness faded, and she looks back at the rest of her companions as she drew a sharp breath in, confused.
