Bianca watches the others nervously. She's read plenty about Varisian tombs and their unusual penchant for traps and other defences, but she's not sure that there's really much she can do to help deal with them.

After first checking to see if there is a way around the first pit to close it up (and if there is, trying to do so), Lars heads down the east branch checking as he goes.

Maze of Pillars

As Lars and the other two make their way around the room, they note several pits, each looking to be approximately ten feet deep. There also seem to be switches along the walls in three separate locations in the room. So far seems not to be any obvious sign as to what these switches might do.

 

Toward the south, the previous incomprehensible wailing has resumed yet again, echoing from the walls from a yet undiscovered source.

spacer.pngNoriko looks at the others moving through the pit trap maze and ponders, then she heads over to the nearest switch that can be accessed without jumping a pit. Startled as the screaming starts again she glances around, "Less and less do I think that is anything but a trap of some kind. I'm going to try pressing this switch and see what happens." Looking at the switch she attempts to discern how it would operate, and once she is satisfied she understands it, she will throw, push, pull or otherwise activate it.

Maze of Pillars

Noriko pushes the round piece of stone into the wall, it obviously still sporting a slightly different colouration from faded pigment that had mostly worn away gods knows how many years ago…

 

Azura, Darhana and Lars Only

You suddenly hear a muted series of clunking sounds toward the south, as though there were some gears or something of the kind at work. Several seconds later, it stops.

"Maybe we best move on as quickly as possible to figure out where the moaning comes from without creating extra sounds that can alert people to our presence."

Walking along the south side of the room, you notice a door along the south wall inside one of the cubbies between two pillars.

 

It appears as though some of the mechanical sounds may hace been coming from there, not to mention that the intermittent wailing.
