"Well, let's have a look...", Crastug says, cautiously approaching the barn, looking and listening for indications that the bear is still around.

Circe looks on as Crastug heads towards the barn, a puzzled expression on her face. "Follow the cubs, stay high up and out of spell range. Loop the loop when they stop.", she murmurs to Peek. Peek, after looking through her, as raptors seem to do as a matter of course, leaps off her falconer's glove and quickly gains altitude. Circe, begins walking after Peek, falling behind Peek's as 'the crow flies', progress, conditions on the ground not being the best for a chase. From this it's clear she's intent on following the cubs as opposed to heading to the barn.

Crastug_por.jpg.c45fad6e56bd5523800b8c20aea1e1b4.jpgSeeing that the bear is definitely in the barn and at least momentarily occupied, Crastug changes tack and begins to follow Circe and Peek. "It is seeming like the cubs are the more interesting part of this mystery", he reasons. "Perhaps we should investigate them while the mother is occupied. I don't suppose anyone could create an illusion of the cubs playing out here to perhaps keep her happier..?"

Notable Effects

Flurry of blows: Make two unarmed Strikes. If both hit the same creature, combine their damage for the purpose of resistances and weaknesses. Apply your multiple attack penalty to the Strikes normally. As it has the flourish trait, you can use Flurry of Blows only once per turn

Stunning Fist DC(18): The focused power of your flurry threatens to overwhelm your opponent. When you target the same creature with two Strikes from your Flurry of Blows, you can try to stun the creature. If either Strike hits and deals damage, the target must succeed at a Fortitude save against your class DC or be stunned 1 (or stunned 3 on a critical failure). This is an incapacitation effect

Circe, frequently as cold as the snow she is walking through, regards Crastug levelly as he joins her in the march after Peek. "My apologies Crastug, I should've checked with you first before gallivanting off on my own. I have little liking for people, preferring the discipline of the Art instead.", she says in a low voice. This is something of a non-sequiteur, with no foreshadowing of what is to follow, especially since Circe is an elf and Crastug is of half orcish blood. "You have a good head on your shoulders and your heart is in the right place. Thus, if we are to follow a captain, I would follow you from among all of us... just so you know."

Crastug_por.jpg.c45fad6e56bd5523800b8c20aea1e1b4.jpg"No, I think you were probably right", Crastug replies to Circe's apology for wandering off. "Once we determined that the mother bear was in the barn and occupied I think going after the cubs was the right move. The evidence seems to be suggesting that they may be the real source of our mystery and the bear simply a side effect."

He considers what she has said about leading the team for a moment before replying, "Thank you for your support. I suppose we will need to talk about this soon if we all continue on together. Perhaps this little adventure can serve as a sort of trial by fire for determining who is suitable for the task."

"At least we should have plenty of warning when she comes crashing through that roof", he replies to Tethyr's concerns about the mother. "Unless she smartens up and remembers there's a door that is...."

Between Peek's surveillance, tracks in the fresh snow, and the cubs' slow speed, it's quite easy to track them. Before long you can see that they seem to be heading toward another empty house. From time to time, you can hear sounds coming from the direction of the cubs, but they sound like voices rather than bears' growls or whines.

If you hustle, you can easily overtake the cubs before they reach the house, in which case you could try to nab them or just surround them and cut them off. Or you could continue to follow from a distance and observe what they're doing in the houses. It doesn't seem like they're aware that you're following them yet.

Ash almost stumbles over her own tail when the supposed "cubs" seem to talk amongst themselves. "Well, I suppose if you're looking for anything out of the ordinary about bear cubs that would qualify now wouldn't it?" She keeps her voice quiet despite her shock, quite aware at how sound seems to carry in this place.

descriptionAsh, the shortened version of her name that she primarily uses, especially with the scaleless, is an empathetic young female lizardfolk. Always concerned with the care of those in need, particularly the wounded, she goes out of her way to assist them, even complete strangers. Its why she became a field medic and followed the Way of the Water, for which she had a marked affinity.

She's quite small for a lizardfolk who are typically about the same size as a larger human. Her tribe, a cliffscale species is instead much smaller, slender and lithe, almost identical in size to that of a typical gnome but with a long slender tail of course. Her scales are a sandy tan and gray with darker mottled spots and her hands, feet, fingers, and toes allow her to scale sheer surfaces with ease. Most of her clothing is tan or a shade of gray-brown, her favorite color, and tends towards being short and non-binding or custom fitted, allowing her a freedom of movement more restrictive clothing simply won't.

"I think that we should talk them before we try to capture them. They just flew out of a roof a barn. I don't think we have anything that would keep them captive". Vega suggests as she follows the cub tracks. "We could watch them at the next house and then talk to them afterwards" .
