The zombies shamble forward, with more appearing from the shadows deeper in the chamber. Wilwick swipes at one of them, though his strike glances off its armor.

Crescenda blinks at the zombies and racks her mind for what she mind recall...

While she is at it, she steps out of the curtain spot sne meandered into so as to eye at where the rest of her new associateas wandered. She sees only one of them fully, and suspects she can guess where the other two are. "Naturally," Crescenda acknowledges Wilwick's plan.

Fable, having shuffled to the part of the corridor opposite Crescenda, takes a moment to peek over the corner and level and fire her cross bow at the zombie before Wilwick.

"But HOW shall I ready myself, Father?" Camlann shoots back with a grin as he assaults the zombie before him with a series of short, sharp chops.

 

OOC: Camlann switches from his Senses aura to his Energy Shield aura. The zombies will take 2 points of acid damage if they hit him or any ally within 30 feet.

When Camlann's attack mimics Father Bramblemane's own failed attack, the diminutive Priest looks up at the massively tall fighter and says with a grin, "Something better than that would be my guess!"

Nonetheless, neither the pair of front-liners nor the zombies opposing them were any worse for the wear. The gods were with them, at least so far.

Celuna rushes ahead and attempts a trick shot past Wilwick and Camlann at one of the zombies, though she misses. Camlann's blow glances off the zombie's armor. Fable hits one of the zombies, though it doesn't seem to much mind having an arrow sticking out of its chest. Crescenda knows all about zombies--they are especially susceptible to slashing damage. She is pretty sure they were once hobgoblins.

"So you know, these are unaltered hobgoblin zombies! We may be observing someones who did not serve eagerly enough, or someones who failed to produce results. Either occasion would be rather grim, but at least they haven't been upgraded. Your Holiness might be able to burn with with a holy...What is it? Turning? Blasting?," Crescenda shares with her allies while maintaining her vigil in the room.

Ce'luna relaxes her grip on her bow a little in light of this new information from her adjacent ally, waiting for what their half-pint padre might do.

This ought to be good, she says sassily, somewhat sarcastically, not precisely sure what surprise Wilwick will have waiting.

Still ready, she waits for Wilwick to act before firing on the remaining zombies, while Blakesley keeps his distance from the approaching threat, staying alert for any danger from the other direction.

"I'll try to do better, Your Reverence," Camlann quips back. "You should consider withdrawing and letting Gwen take her place in the front line, though. I think we can ill afford to lose your blessings if there's many more of these monsters ahead," he adds as he continues to battle the zombies.

Wilwick smiles at the quip and helpful information. When Camlann recommends he and Gwen switching places in the ranks the tiny Halfling nods his head in the affirmative and says, "Sounds okay with me. How about it Gwen, do a switch-a-roo?"

Assuming Gwen assents to the change in positions, then Father Bramblemane simply smiles and says, "Agreed, follow my lead!" If not, then he will hold his position.

Regardless, now the diminutive holy man executes the trap he had planned now that all of the zombies were in range and had no protection from the divine wrath of the gods.

Presenting his holy symbol, the Priest proclaims, "In the name of all that is holy, I release thee unto the light," causing flames to erupt from the bodies of the zombies themselves as the creatures begin to self-combust as they are hit with a powerful wave of divine energy.

Once his attack has completed, Wilwick will say to Gwen, "Ok, switch now," as he takes a single step to stand behind Calmann stowing his sickle as the padre moves into the second rank of the formation allowing Gwen to take his place up front.

Mechanics

Destroy Undead

VARIANT TURNING RULES:  DESTRUCTION OF THE UNDEAD  (Complete Divine p. 87)

Instead of making undead run and cower, expending one of the cleric's daily turn attempts will deal positive energy damage to all undead within 30 feet of the cleric.  

Turning undead is a standard action that deals 1d6 damage/cleric level to all undead within 30' of the cleric .  The affected undead get a Will save (DC 10 + cleric level + Charisma modifier) for half-damage.

Undead with turn resistance may subtract that number from the damage that they take from each turn attempt.  For example, a vampire with turn resistance 4 takes 4 fewer hit points of damage each time he takes turning damage.  

When using this ability against incorporeal creatures, you do not have to roll a 50% miss chance; turning hits automatically.

"Fable" the Beguiler

Letting out a "hmph!" at the ineffectiveness of her bolt, Fable is nonetheless bolstered by the hurried battle-banter of her companions and her own self-confidence. She twirls her dagger in her hand, looking for an opening but trusting in the might of Brother Wilwick's divinity.

 

Should the zombies remain standing, she will throw the weapon at the nearest of the shambling goblinoids.

Just in case the zombies are still standing after this, Fable's going to throw her dagger at the nearest -- preferably blue, he made her mad. Terrible at "catch". HOWEVER! I don't know if I can reasonably deal slashing damage from a throw, so... :((((

Wilwick invokes the wrath of the gods against the abominations, causing all of them to decay a little. Another zombie shambles out of the darkness as two of them swing their axes at Camlann. One of them slams Camlann with his blade, dealing 7 Damage. The zombie sizzles as the acid Camlann manifests damages it further. Celuna fires, but misses. Camlann's attack glances off the zombie's armor. Fable hits the zombie, though it doesn't seem to much mind the dagger now sticking out of its shoulder.
