Getting the white box out of the duct, Triage gets down from the table and removes any other screws keeping the box closed. Finding the tape she nods. "Well, here is said tape. Have everything hooked up Fixer?" She asks as she puts the screwdrivers back into the tool kit and leaves them on the table. She is not sure if they'll need them later for this or not.

Looking up at the damaged airduct, Triage's eye twitched. She then turned and took seat on one of the more comfortable chairs for the video. It may be the last bit of comfort once they find out what's next.

Fixer

Health: 2 | Movement: 35 | Toughness: 11 | Evasion: 11 | Cleverness: 16 | Willpower: 18

"My thoughts exactly. VCR's should be set up riggghht... now." With the last plug in place Fixer waits for the VHS to be handed to him, then loads it in. Turning the TV on, he finds the nearest chair and sits down. "Me without my concessions. I don't need anything fancy mind you just some popcorn and a drink. Maybe some M&Ms."

Angel, who is already enjoying the comfort of the armchair, with a drink in hand and the magazine resting on her legs, look at Fixer "theres some orange juice in the fridge."

After several seconds of silence she share her thoughts

"i keep thinking about the General's words -every member of GI-joe earned their spot on the team, including you- given the variety of candidates, from spec ops to veterinarians, from cia agents to bikers, i dont understand how can they make a test that fit every individual, it's simply not possible, maybe as a group, but why test candidates as a group? group wide success and failure is not just unfair, but also make no sense. Lastly if this is a team building exercise, then i ask why, why would they do team building exercise with a group of strangers who have never met each other and likely will never meet again? "

"the only conclusion i've reached is...we have already passed, i believe everyone present at the general speech had already passed, he said it clearly, we have earned our spot, if you consider this then it make sense to do team building exercises, i would have suggested a volleyball match between teams, there a veterinarian can reasonably compete with a spec ops"

"and no air-duct would have been harmed" she add, joking

Apex.jpg.0fbf396b66b78d418961387e2b90cb11.jpg"It's not about our skills. That selection is too easy." interjected Juice. "However, any elite unit has a certain level of expedient teamwork and synergy that needs to be examined. Eagle Claw was a prime example. Elite units from all across the DoD gathered to perform a mission that hadn't been tried before. Few had worked together before. Equipment didn't sync, comms didn't work, TTPs were all different... In short, it was a Charlie Foxtrot. They were hard set in their ways, that is what I believe this exercise was about. Seeing that we can apply our skill sets to accomplish something that we weren't ready for."

Juice seemed to notice that he had been speaking probably longer that he had before to the group. He blushed slightly and sat down.

Triage thought of what Angel and Juice were saying. "Could be an even simpler test concept. Do they play well with others." Triage offered. After all, G.I. Joe is often deployed as a team. If someone is not able to work with other people, then it will doom most missions from the start.

Upon placing the cassette into the tape player and pressing start, the lights in the room would revert back to normal, the emergency red color that they had been now gone. The screen was black though numbers moved at the bottom to indicate it was actually playing. After a moment a voice could be heard.

"Congratulation on finding the video cassette. You've made it this far. Just remember that while all this might seem confusing, dealing with groups like Cobra can require outside the box thinking. Not everything is as it seems, and not everything will require problem solving with a bullet. "

The loud click could be heard from the main door, as the sound of the heavy duty locks disengaged.

"You are welcome to leave the room now at any time. No one will think less of you if you decide to withdraw now. However there is still one puzzle left if you wish to continue. If you wish to see things through to the very end...."

The screen would remain black for a moment. After a few seconds, a small flash of the color green was seen in the lower right corner. Then red. Then blue. then orange. It would continue for another minute repeating the color pattern. Then the solid black screen would continue and the numbers marched forward once again.

A panel slid open on the side wall under the clocks. There were four small keyholes.

Fixer

Health: 2 | Movement: 35 | Toughness: 11 | Evasion: 11 | Cleverness: 16 | Willpower: 18

Fixer nods along with Juice's words before chiming in. "Eagle Claw went down in a way I never would've planned had I had been running that op. CIA got the intelligence two weeks before the op on an imminent military intervention by Iraq - which was correct by the way, they invaded less than five months later - which prompted a real mad-dash to organize that task force and try and save those hostages. The results speak for themselves. Me? I would've kept it in house, Special Activities only with local paramilitary support for cover. Get in, get the hostages, and get out, all quick and quiet like. Course Middle East isn't my purview so take that with a grain of salt; Latin America's more my wheelhouse. Suppose that just reinforces the point they're trying to make here..."

Turning back to face the TV, Fixer listened intently to the message left for them. He remains seated as the door unlocks, his gaze still on the screen as he assesses the strange pattern before the keyholes open up. This prompts him to get out of his seat and look over the others.

"Looks like there's still a few eggs to find in this Easter hunt. So... let's cracking." Smiling, Fixer waits to see the response to his joke before casing the room once more for any hidden compartments or keys the group missed on their initial investigation.

In Fixer's sweep of the room, he would accidently shift one of the lounge chairs a bit as he stood back up. A light "clink" sound could be heard underneath. Tipping the heavier chair over to its side, a key would be found underneath of it. Green. There were eleven other similar chairs set up in front of the television.

"you speak of elite units, how many here come from the special forces?" she ask Juice, then look at Fixer, "here there are people from all kind of fields, as good as they may be, they have too little in common to expect true teamwork... we dont even know his name or anything about him" nodding at Juice, who hasnt introduced himself yet, people are trying to solve this puzzle to get good marks, not to form a group, they had more team building before this test.

"green is my favorite color, but i also like red" she say when Fixer find the key, she does check her on chair, not wanting to be an obstacle, if she does find a key there, she'll give it to the cia agent, otherwise she'll resume looking at the magazine.

"i was in the pararescue, after that i worked as paramedic for search and rescue operations, solving puzzles has never been a part of my training, we had cutting torches, hydraulic tools and circular saw for situations like this"

Apex.jpg.0fbf396b66b78d418961387e2b90cb11.jpg"I thought I had; I did intro Chirp. I'm Juice, Active Duty Army and I'm not saying being special operations is a sole definer of teamwork. We are working together because that is the implied mission, skill sets not withstanding" he continued to talk as he dropped to the ground and looked under one of the remaining chairs. Wanting to keep from setting off any traps by moving the chair. " and no. Not SF." he answered, totally misunderstanding Angel's question.

"Well boys and girls, we are all here for a single purpose... to take on Cobra. This room is just a small step into working together. " Tap takes the orange key. "I'll go last. Angel goes first with her green. Then Fixer with red. Juice you want to turn the blue key?"

Tap poises himself to turn the orange key.

Fixer

Health: 2 | Movement: 35 | Toughness: 11 | Evasion: 11 | Cleverness: 16 | Willpower: 18

“I’ve always been partial to darker shades of colours myself. Bright red, bright green, bit much in my opinion. But that’s just me.”

Picking up the red key, Fixer looks over Juice and Angel.

“Pararescue eh? Nice and respectable. There’s something to be said about a line of work that puts saving lives front and centre. No grey or even black just… shades of white.”

Clearing his throat, Fixer stands and follows after Huntsman to place the red key in its corresponding slot. “I’m not SpecOps either for reference. CIA case officers are essentially recruiters and handlers for intelligence assets, which entails a certain degree of wrangling to be sure. Teams are like a puzzle in my experience Angel; it’s all about finding the place where a person fits best. Do that, and you’ve got a right pretty picture by the end.”
