Keshka gladly took the offered waterskin, using the first mouthful to rinse the taste of the awful water out and the second to help settle the queasiness she felt. "Please don't tell Kat." She straightened up and made a move to hand the waterskin back before doubling over again and re-emptying her stomach into the water. With a repeat of the rinsing and taking a sip she managed to hand the waterskin back to Vri.

"I know... you tried to warn me T'Sarra. You don't need to say it." She gave a rueful and embarrassed smile before finally managing to successfully get to her feet. "Well lead on, and lets try to make it so we don't need to make to many more of those swims."

"That's always a good idea, not swimming in that pool" Vri said, "Let's first give that brown mold a bit of cold therapy and then we'll see what's next."

She will move towards the location of the brown mold, still being careful in case something had changed since last time. It wasn't because they cleaned everything out that there weren't new things moving in. So caution was still the order of the day. Arriving at the location, she would look at Barhuce.

"It's your cold, you can do the honours if you want."

At the shore

T'Sarra's shook her head at Val's teen aged antics.

"Yeah! You're ahead one to nothing, I can't believe Keshka doesn't want to even the score. Anyways, work to be done, when you're ready Keshka. And no, I won't tell Kat, nor ever mention it again. People ignore my warning all! The! Time! I'm used to it."

She smiled and laughed a little, then moved out with Vri towards the mold chamber, waiting to see if the cold worked, but watching for the return of the Gremlins or the attack of the Skulks as they went. Didn't trust either of the little folk.

Black Hill Caves — Mold-Ridden Tunnel

With Vri in the lead, the group squeezed through the low-ceilinged cavern choked with stalactities and stalagmites, then hung a right before the dark cavern opens up to a rocky shore overlooking a placid pool. As they passed, Keshka vaguely caught a glimpse of some slimy pale-pinkish lump, perhaps some kind of an amphibian creature or frog-like thing.

 

Continuing down a narrow winding tunnel, they pass a junction littered with crates, boxes, rubble and metal scrap heaped to one side section, the walls of which sport several strange chalk drawings.

 

Past that intersection, the group stops where the temperature drops noticeably inside the passageway, and a
rime of white frost lines the walls and floor leading into the cavern beyond. What seems to be a light layer of brown dust carpets the cave floor beyond, and a body of some sort sits slumped against the eastern wall. But to those who have been here before, nothing seems to have visibly changed since yesterday.

Black Hill Caves — Mold-Ridden Tunnel

Moving up to the edge of the clifftop protruding into the cavern's northern entrance, Barhuce fishes one of the vials of liquid ice out of his pack and chucks it down in between himself and the body slumped against the eastern wall. With a smash and a quiet hiss, the alchemical substance hits the mold at the cavern floor, and a patch of the stuff turns whiteish and wilty, some of the filaments flaking off into powdery little bits.

"Throw another one to the right" Vri said pointing to the west where the biggest concentration of the brown mold still was present, "that way we have most of it gone."

She will wait until Barhuce throws the second one before heading towards the body to have a look.

At the mold

"Second one? Sure why not better safe than sorry, right? And if we run into more of this stuff, we can always head up and get Matuq to make more."

So, T'Sarra waited with Vri and the others for Barhuce do his thing again. Once the path seemed clear and wouldn't bring her close to any mold that would grow from her body heat, she moved up to the body. Surely it was dead by now, but she had to check.

spacer.png"Oh grow up." Val says from the rear as she moves up to stand at the edge of the small cliff beside Barhuce, her attention seeming to be absorbed by the patch where he had just dropped the vial of liquid ice.

 

"By the time you're done dancing around on your tiptoes debating whether this stuff is safe, it'll have grown back. Let's go." With that, she climbs down to the mold-ridden landing and crosses the short distance to the body, "Come on, gimme a hand."

Keshka stared at the mold, the ice, the body, the entire scene of it all. "Gremlins? And who is that? And I thought you said there were more of the robot things? With Vri, Barhuce and Val all in the cave and T'Sarra acting as if this was a perfectly normal day, she looked over to Violet eyes pleading for a more thorough explanation of what was happening.

Black Hill Caves — Mold-Ridden Tunnel

One after another, Barhuce and Vri help each other down the short cliffside onto the previously mold-ridden landing, and being careful not to disturb even the dead patches too much, they make it over to the body with Val.

 

spacer.png"Oh my gods, that is Gerrol..." Val says in a respectfully solemn tone, her voice lowered somewhat. She closed her eyes and took a moment, but continued after that, "He's... was... something of a popular rogue around town. Oh and he only recently asked Emelia Otterbie to marry him too! Poor thing's gonna be crushed..."

 

The body is still wearing a chain shirt that is of masterwork craftsmanship, and a quick search reveals that he still carries a masterwork hand crossbow with five bolts, a set of masterwork thieves' tools, and four empty vials. There also looks to be a sum of seventy-five gold pieces in his pockets.

 

Vri Only

While it looks like the majority of the mold here has been destroyed, there looks to be a scant few strange ribbons and filaments of rust-coloured fibres still protruding from his spine, throat and chest.

 

spacer.png"We fought a group of gremlins that way, past the skulks' huts," Violet explained, rather nonchalantly as she pointed toward the east down an adjoining tunnel, "Sef gave us silverdisks and beep boop cards for ridding her tribe of the gremlins, she said those 'cave ratses' were annoying."

 

"There was one robot in the storeroom in Val's house, big chinned one ruined Val's rug after it attacked us." The android continues, not realizing how some of what she's trying to explain doesn't quite connect for Keshka, "The other one we found inside the circular hole in the metal wall."
