Damian nods along, seeming to find the assessment of the others perfectly reasonable. "'Tis true that darkness currently presents something of a hindrance to me. - Disguise Self: You can alter the appearance of your form as a
standard action. This effect works like the disguise self spell.
- Faster Ability Healing: You heal 1 point in each damaged
ability score every round, and 1 point in all drained ability
scores every hour.
- Naberius’s Skills: At the time you make your pact, you
can choose a number of skills equal to your Constitution
bonus (if any). Your choices must be skills that can’t be used
untrained and in which you have no ranks. For the duration
of the binding, you can make skill checks with your chosen
skills even though you are untrained. If your Constitution
modifi er decreases after you make the pact, you lose the
ability to make untrained checks with an equal number of
the chosen skills. Lost skills are chosen randomly, and they
remain inaccessible to you until you make another pact with
Naberius.
- Persuasive Words: You can direct a verbal command at a
single living target within 30 feet as if using the command
spell. A successful Will save negates the effect. When your
effective binder level reaches 14th, your words become even
more persuasive and this ability functions like the suggestion
spell. Once you have used this ability, you cannot do so again
for 5 rounds.
- Silver Tongue: You can take 10 on Diplomacy and Bluff
checks even if distracted or threatened. In addition, you can
make a rushed Diplomacy check as a standard action and take
no penalty. (Normally, a rushed Diplomacy check requires a
full-round action and imposes a –10 penalty on the check.)
+2 Disguise bonus when being observed and trying to act in character (Bluff synergy)
+2 Spellcraft to decipher scrolls (UMD synergy)

As the party discusses what to do night slowly falls sound of Mill stops as other noisier stores like Smithies and the In that served as the bar slowly begin to fill, even more quickly than usual as the news of the adventuring party permeates through the village. Several more sawmill workers arrive joining two Half-Orcs and, to more easily accommodate their number, find the empty table, one of them is Human is of no particularly memorable features, but the other, while also Human, had a sizable hump above his left shoulder and a head, likely making him a "Hunchback" from Half-Orcs story.

There are several more Humans whose sun-weathered skin and callused hands pretty easily identify them as local Farmers, several Elves and Half-Elves arrange themself around the bar dressed as hunters, something their Longbows support, and even a couple of Halflings appear, and rather than bothering with tables and chairs climb on the stock of unopened barrels on the side, and while they produce dice and begin to gamble for coppers while sharing one tankard of Ale they clearly are more interested in new arrivals.

Phillip sighs "This is bound just to get more bothersome, I'm off to my room." He claps twice and all of his tools arrange themselves in his case while Magic Hand picks up papers and places them inside. "I'll be here from breakfast to noon if you forgot to ask something. And again around this time. I suggest you occupy my table and soak in the atmosphere a bit. As the only Inn and Tavern, it will be packed as soon as night fully falls." he carefully counts 10 gold per person "Your spending money, not counted in the final pay. If later on possibility of some bribe shows up I have a certain sum secured for that too. Sit here, observe, and interact, don't forget though tonight you are the main attraction so you will be observed too. Possibly not all observants benevolent. Now I wish you good night, and good hunting." Phillip leaves with the grace that more belies dancer than lawyer, going through quickly filling room barely disturbing the air around himself let alone occupants. Still, that doesn't change the fact party is now completely alone and directly, or indirectly, the center of attention of a larger and larger number of people from different persuasions. Two waitresses finally grace the floor moving around the tables. The bartender whispers something to one of them and she noticeably hovers closer to the party.

He then sits down, content that he has contributed to the evening’s festivities. He’ll eventually order the behir for himself.

Polo looks around the room, and his hands twitch a little when he sees the dice game, he was sure that he would eventually make his way over there and see if his lady would grace him with her luck that night. "If no one objects I may see if my lady is with me tonight and see if I can part those men with their hard earned money and perhaps find out if their idle chatter will tell us anything.." he takes a deep sip of his dark beer and gives a contented sigh before standing up and making his way towards the dice game. There's a growl in the back of Damian's mind. Hardly the birdman's fault, the human rationalizes, but spurred on by the influence of Naberius he is naturally resistant to being outdone or upstaged in social matters - particularly after his show of generosity with the barman and the millworkers earlier. Buying another, more expensive, round of drinks would be gauche and unlikely to accomplish much.

So instead, he takes the 10gp that makes up his expenses and neatly separates it into piles. Two piles of four - one pile for each of the waitresses, likely overworked enough, what with more people than usual coming to stare at the weirdos that arrived in town. One of the coins shall be his supper - the Snow Leopard Brisket, to be precise, with 2sp left over for a glass of the White Blood Orange Red. While the last coin, he causally mentions to the waitresses, will go to the first person to provide him with information about the strange doings in the village of late.

- Persuasive Words: You can direct a verbal command at a
single living target within 30 feet as if using the command
spell. A successful Will save negates the effect. When your
effective binder level reaches 14th, your words become even
more persuasive and this ability functions like the suggestion
spell. Once you have used this ability, you cannot do so again
for 5 rounds.
- Silver Tongue: You can take 10 on Diplomacy and Bluff
checks even if distracted or threatened. In addition, you can
make a rushed Diplomacy check as a standard action and take
no penalty. (Normally, a rushed Diplomacy check requires a
full-round action and imposes a –10 penalty on the check.)
+2 Disguise bonus when being observed and trying to act in character (Bluff synergy)

Lumina watched as other filed in. Finding her companions more than eager to mingle at the moment the pale girl moved to set down at the table. The festivities taking place not taking too well for her. She'd rather have her nose buried in a book of magical theorem at the moment. Still the others were having a good time. Looking to one of the waitresses who appeared at the bar. Is there anyone who knows the woods well here? She asked politely. Her eyes moved through the crowd as she thought for the moment. Wondering if there was more information to be gathered.

At the proclamation of free drinks, there is usually cheer that follows such proclamation, tension in the room slightly lowers although gawking reduces barely noticeably only to discreetly change order from mead to rather unmanly called Ale. A few of the customers with embarrassingly poorly hidden chash on waitresses even ordered cheaper drinks leaving extra as their tip.

Somewhat Ironically mainly focused on Shen. Since of everyone, he seemed most exotic, he put talking birds that occasionally came to circus into nearby towns almost pedestrian. By the corner of his eye, he notices a waitress towering around adventurers in the pretense of tidying the place grabbing one of his fallen-off feathers and hiding it in her cleavage, only for it to show up several moments later behind her ear surrounded by a few flowers. Inexpensive but rather visually appealing adornment since his obsidian black feather surrounded by two dark blue flowers made a rather striking contrast with her blonde hair.

Polo finds one of his kin alone as the other one is seemingly too impatient to wait for waitresses to come to them and goes to the bar to take their drinks. Another one is cleanly dressed and has a bright glint in his eyes as he looks at Polo, almost the cat measuring is the prey worth the effort. His smile is perfect and Polo has a distinct feeling he better be careful if he plans to leave with his shirt on the back. "Oh, my lucky day." Halfling's voice is a pleasant tenor that perfectly compliments his face and while Polo prided himself on his luck with ladies, he was not sure bet against this halfling would be that sure. "Stranger entire village is buzzing about approaches me, no cunning excuse needed. Lady Luck might be looking at least in my direction tonight."

He throws a pair of dice in the air and catches them with his left hand only for the palm to be empty when he shows it. Surprisingly when he shows the other hand it's empty too making him elongate his face like an irritated performer when the act go unplanned "Nob! How many times have I said not to mess with my tricks?"

The new arrival comes carrying two tankards of mead and a blissfully honest look on his face. How the two not only became but stayed friends over time is a testament to the saying "Opposites Attract". Since everything on Nob from his large, black, innocent eyes to his friendly smile, that he likely fell asleep with, was the opposite of Gambler. Even his voice, baritone seemingly impossible for someone his size "Nerich? I..." That's as far as he come since his friend...Nerich?...Tapped him on the back of the head and two dice seemingly flew out of Nob's opened mouth and landed on the top of the barrel showing two 6's

"Just don't do it again Nob, ok?" Nerich smoothly added taking one tankard and sipping the mead "Lovely." Nob seemed slightly confused but just nodded and took a seat. Smile not once even wavering let alone falling off his face. Nerich again looked at Polo. "Well cousin, my name is Nerich Newfeather, and this trickster is Nob Smallhopper." Nob politely nods at Polo not even reacting at being called "Trickster". "I'm a magician by trade, not a mage or sorcerer mind you, at my shows, you get 100% skill and misdirection, not even a whiff of magic or your money back guaranteed."

Nerich leans back and picks up dice shaking them around "Well, most plebians lost appreciation for magicians when one in three people on the street can do "real" magic, so I supplement my income with some gambling. People who lose tend to get violent, especially when you are of our size. Nob deals with them for 30% of the winnings, I have known him since we were children so we trust each other, and as the fact I still have all my fingers and can move without the cane proves, he is pretty good at what he does too." Nob actually blushes and looks at his drink while he is praised obviously uncomfortable. "Now we were just killing time, not working, with pair/odds, two-dice version. I trust I don't have to explain the rules of that? You're free to join, I guess some stories would be worth any copper or silver we lose."

The waitress that was near Damien was either a natural or a professional moving around with jobs like sawmill workers. Since it was obvious that she knew what was expected of her in the bar full of tipsy customers. If the fact she needed an extra belt just to keep her cleavage from spilling over, the glint in her eye as she approached Damien and without hesitation picked up two gold pieces and twirled them between her fingers, both at the same time did. "Food is overpriced when compared to booze, but then again that is the point, get you so drunk you don't care how much your meal costs...or tastes."

In one smooth move, she returns gold to the stack, not a hairbreadth off center "Kinda like a good waitress can recognize a fisher. They are like window shoppers, they might look at the merchandise but their minds are elsewhere. Which is good, I might flash you when I think you are drunk enough so you'll order a bottle of liquor, but that is as close you'll get to the "goods""

"The fact that you are here to get information simplifies our jobs significantly, I don't have to flutter my eyelashes at you as you are the only man here, nor do I have to "accidentally" spill something on your lap so I can rub at it vigorously while giving you an eyeful of my cleavage. We can get straight to business, ask what you want to know, and I'll give you my price, when you pay I'll give you the answer. Which concludes the transaction. New transaction, new payment."

When she's done Damien witnesses one of the strangest transformations in his life. Her entire body language changes as she with feline grace moves to the left and bends over to wipe the corner of the table like she spotted the stain. And from the place she had to be to do that made not only Damian but all customers in their table radius think of the Fairs and bouncy balloons most of them had above the entrance and tied to posts above every more expensive attraction...for some reason. Once done she gives Damian a perfect smile and almost purrs while her eyelashes flutter like agitated butterflies "Have gentleman decided what he'll have for tonight?" She bends forward which seriously strains the capability of her "cleavage belt" "Maybe you need my help to decide, I tried every dish here."

From about a dozen feet away that interaction is observed by a second waitress with an unmistakable jealous glint in her eye when she looks at the gold on the table. But the expression vanished from her face as soon as Lumina approached her and with trained professionalism, she also smiled and looked over the crowd. That kept increasing which such speed that Shen was secretly happy he already proclaimed his round because now he'd have to pay almost double or buy one of the cheapest beers which would be a lot less effective. The waitress slightly leans so she can speak directly in Lumina's ear over the din of customers talking and various tableware. She points toward the corner of the bar where three Elves and one Half-Elf were standing and sipping on a glass of some wine each, mead was in front of them, likely not to offend Shen, but it did not look like they were interested in drinking it. Of all the bunch they only gave a group one glance as they entered and now kept to themselves.

"Well dear, that would be that bunch there, they live in it. Or well, Elven village about a day's walk from here to be more precise. Hunters come twice a week to sell meat and their women and young come once a week selling various stuff, from traps and anti-mosquito oils, to woodcraft and small jewelry...like this, actually." She pointed at the necklace around her neck, it seemed like a golden chain with the ruby in the center from afar, but now when Lumina was looking directly at it she saw it was actually cleverly woven from some kind of gold hair interspersed with several strands of silk dipped in some sort of glitter to give that metallic sparkle. While the "ruby" was just a beautifully polished carnelian which had almost the same red hue as ruby but most often wasn't translucent making a large amount of it cheaper.

"If it weren't for their village we would much more suffer from wolves during Winter, or bears during Autumn when they look to fatten up for hibernation." She slightly blushes "The fact that some of them are so cute is a plus in my book. Too bad they can't go on private land. I bet they would deal with those Goblins a few years ago when they moved in and we wouldn't have infestation like now."

spacer.pngAlexis takes a minute to subtly appreciate the pretty waitresses. Shame she's 'on the clock' so to speak, and these lovely ladies are unlikely to share her desires. Ah well, she can just look from afar. While doing this, she takes the time to also enjoy the food she acquired and listen in on the conversations around her. Never know when the simplest of things might come in handy, after all.

Lumina listened intently to the waitress as she talked. When she mentioned how cute the half elves were she giggled softly. I can only imagine how cute some of them are. If I were so inclined to say I'd have to say that half elf men are some of my favorite men. Then again human men can be so boorish at times. Maybe I need to get to know some of the single men there. She said before grinning playfully. When presented with the craft she smiled. That is gorgeous. I wonder if I could find something in onyx or something like that from the village. It would a worthwhile purchase especially if I can get it enchanted with protections. By the way my name is Lumina. With that she pulled out her coin purse and gave a single gold coin to the waitress. This is for the information. I appreciate it.

Blonde's voice gets a certain breathy quality as she twirls one of her locks "Oh such praise from someone like you." She shyly looks at her shoes. "I can assure you that I have not seen such a manly and experienced hero since I arrived here. Last week." She covers her mouth with a handful of her hair and glances toward Alexis winking at her. "I will make sure your order is delivered and when you decide about the fate of the other coins we might see each other again." She twirls and almost magically she's too far for Damien to call for her without getting up and even then he'd have to stand in line as all workers from the sawmill were milking as much of her attention as possible. She already placed 3 golden pieces in her cleavage for seemingly no work. One of the farmers actually stood up and waited so no one cut in line as apparently, one man in his mid-twenties had the intention.

Damian was picking up what he heard since he came during the day, and placed man as one from a blacksmith family, thanks to the near unwashable soot under his nails, too old to be attacked child and too young to be the father which left either another son or another member of the family. There was no ring on the finger and in such a small village old trick of removing it in the bar just looked to invite trouble. What was clear was that the bartender didn't ask this one to try and milk the newcomers for nothing, second thing was that he needed to change tactics. He was fairly certain she will earn more than his "spending money" was before his dinner arrived, as fourth gold vanishes in her cleavage when she plants a kiss on Hunchbacks....well, hump to the loud hooting of his compatriots. While leaving workers, she "accidentally" ran into a Farmer who was waiting on her and spilled some of his mead, then started to vigorously clean the spot while apologizing, while poor dupe already was grabbing his pouch. Damien started to philosophize how at least 50% of this village would benefit from not procreating when their looks met and she winked at him before continuing her job...both of them

The second waitress couldn't momentarily hide her surprise, obviously not expecting to get such a high tip from a girl, which marked her as the local, since if Lumina asked Damien he'd bet his last gold that the Blonde would be sitting in Alexis lap if she saw angle in such course of action. On the other hand, the second waitress smiles a bit more warmly as she continues to talk with Lumina "Alas, same as with rubies clear and clean gems are hard to find in these mountains. But they can make nicely polished figures from Jade or even just nicely polished can fit into rings or earrings. If you can pay a bit more sometimes they bring Green Garnet sometimes called fake emerald since some so much look like the real stuff that counterfeiters often try to pass it for emerald, or thieves try to steal it so I would go for the one with the blueish hue so it's obvious."

She looks at the gold for a second before she stores it in her cleavage, apparently a universal thing, but she leans closer to Lumina and almost whispers in her ear "I mean it is obvious you are adventurers, hopefully here to deal with that Goblins, it is just a matter of time before they kill someone. Approach them and offer to buy them a bottle of Orange Blackberry White and say Marriane sent you, it will cost you one silver but Gath, Half-Elf, and I are...friendly" Glint in the waitress's eyes say without words how friendly exactly they are. "Also only they call me by my full name, some cultural thing, here everyone calls me Mary. With that, they will answer all they can that don't endanger their village. Just don't be intimidated before you introduce yourself. They can be intense, especially purebloods."

Racial Abilities:

  • +2 Dexterity, -2 Strength.
  • Small: As a Small creature, a halfling gains a +1 size bonus to Armor Class, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +4 size bonus on Hide checks, but she uses smaller weapons than humans use, and her lifting and carrying limits are three-quarters of those of a Medium character.
  • Halfling base land speed is 20 feet.
  • +2 racial bonus on ClimbJumpListen, and Move Silently checks.
  • Speak without Sound (Su): A ghostwise halfling, unlike other halflings, can communicate telepathically with any creature within 20 feet, just as if speaking to him or her. The halfling can only speak and listen to one person at a time, and he must share a common language with the person or creature he speaks to telepathically, or the telepathic link fails.

  • +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear: This bonus stacks with the halfling’s +1 bonus on saving throws in general.

Polo listens as Nerich speaks and gives him a ready smile as well. "Hmm should I trust the dice, cousin? It seems you really have a way with them that does in fact seem almost magic and I would hate for my coins to just "magically" disappear as I try to keep up. If you are using those dice and using the same tricks you just showed I am guessing if they lost the game, they were not wanting to fight you because of your size. " he says with a chuckle to show he was jesting. He then continues to speak around the statement of having magic. "My lady has not blessed me with any magic yet either, though she has given me some blessings so far. " he takes another deep sip of his dark beer, as a thoughtful look crosses his face. "You said the population around here has one in three knowing real magic? That seems a bit high for a talent that is somewhat rare, is there a reason so many spellcasters are around here?"  he asks curiously as he sits down with them and pulls a few coppers out not showing his hand as to how much coin he actually had. The chap was a trickster. Obviously, even if he was a nice one, it was better to be safe than sorry. He would play with no expectations of winning against him

He is definitely giving the dice a skeptical look as legit for a game that did not involve cheating. Though he was being good natured about it.
