Gray hurries his noble step.  Scurrying towards dwarven friend!

“Greeting, dwarven one!  Gemlia, was it?  I thought I caught your name whilst we made quick introductions to the Scribing fellow.  I am Grayden Greencastle.  Call me Gray.  All my friends do.

”From where is it do you hail…uh, from…dwarven one?”

Gemlia gave Gray a hard sidelong look. "Ya got my name, then, didn't ya, but ya can't use it?" she asked, somewhat rhetorically. She sighed, "Manlings..."

Turning her attention back to scanning the sprawling streets for a bulletin board, Gemlia replied, "Yer people call 'em the Skyreach Mountains. Far t' th' south of here. Me an' Kharn call 'em Kar Dunzok."

The woman smiled and stared off wistfully for a moment as she thought of home.

"Ya ever been? Much warmer down there. Surrounded by thick jungle. Huge lizards."

The party regroups outside the Iron Helm Inn. After deciding on visiting the Town Bulletin Board they set off following Kharn's lead. The Bulletin Board isn't to hard to find. It is located in The Square (see Morgansfort Map #2), which just happens to be the same area the Inn and Tavern are. The Board is smack dab in the middle of the Square under a weathered ramada (a roof structure with no walls). Surrounding the ramada are booths manned by local farmers selling their wares: various fruits and vegetables, meats and cheeses, honey, eggs, etc. A Farmer's Market.

Making their way to the board, the party sees several notices tacked up. Notices announcing community news, upcoming community events and job/help wanted notices. Four of the notices catch the parties interest:

* A local Nobleman is looking for a someone to travel to Slateholm and escort his daughter back to Morgansfort.

* A local family is looking for a someone to look for their children who have gone missing near the lakes to the south.

* Several local farmers have joined together and are looking for someone to track down and kill a mysterious creature that has been terrorizing their farms.

* A local wood Merchant is looking for someone to investigate a cave recently discovered beneath the ground where he is foresting trees for lumber.

The party looks these notices over with interest...

Mordel

Mordel carefully reads the tacked notices. "Hmm, this is quite a handful, what do you think? spacer.pngI would say we could escort the nobleman's daughter back here, first, these roads could prove dangerous even for us, let alone a young woman. Also, this could also server our good reputation in the area. Let's not forget about Bart, but in the meantime, this could prove advantageous."

Mortimer Davorus

Mort looks over the notices on the board and is immediately drawn to the one that leaves him with the least uncertainty.

"Traveling to another settlement in a land new to all of us..." he ponders aloud, "sounds like a lot of work full of unknown risks.

"Cavern exploration? Less of a journey, but confined in uncharted territory. No thank you. And missing children. Too many emotions involved."

Mort taps his finger on the note about the mysterious creature.

"If we seek favorable word to spread about us, what better way than to help the common folk? This one has the most mouths to sing our praises. Okay, so there is some kind of creature causing trouble, right? At least we know what we are getting ourselves into."

Despite having made his point (and believing it to be the best choice), Mort will not argue with the group and simply just go along with the consensus. However, if things don't go his way, he's not above dropping an I-told-you-so at the proper moment.

Mordel

Nodding, Mordel says, "While I do see a point in making a foothold by spacer.pngescorting the young lady, I have to agree with you", looking at Mort and Kharn, "as helping the common folk is what's closest to my heart and what I mostly did before venturing this far, so you got me convinced, the value lies with our own kin." Glancing at Cal, he adds, "Please excuse me, your highness, I meant no harm, but us, simple children of the land", with a friendly smile on his face.

"Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go kill a monster if you're up for it. I'll stand with any man or dwarf who will fight. But if any of you just plan on hanging around in the back and then taking a share of the gold, you'd best get back on that blasted boat because I don't hold with cowards or charlatans. Got it?"

Gemlia clucked her tongue at Mort's candid description of cave exploration. "It's not so bad as ya make it to be," she interjected, but let him finish.

At Kharn's rousing speech, the cleric nodded. "Aye, ye'll 'ave th' fires of the Forge burning warm beside ye."

She slapped Gray on the shoulder. "What about ye? E'ery good hero has a few monsters under their belt, eh? There's an honor it, eh?"

Gray gazes emerald eyes upon yon posting board. Perusing jobs worthy of noble station!

“I am actually from Slateholm, so traveling there would be something of a homecoming, for me. I might be able to he,p us around town!

”On the other hand, friends…the missing children, that job seems a bit more…urgent?

”I will defer to the group. Sorry for long silence on my player’s part!”

"Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go kill a monster..."

With that Kharn snatches the notice from the Board. The notice informs you to see one Aelric Hainault of Hainault Farms. After making a few inquiries you learn that the Hainault Farms are located North of Morgansfort; about an hours walk.

OocAre you setting out immediately? Or anything you want to do first?

OOC: Kharn has what he needs, so I'm happy to time skip to first light minus the cost of a bed at the Iron Helm.

  • 3 months later...

In search of wealth, adventure and fame you each have traveled to Morgansfort, a lonely stronghold on the fringe of civilization. After days of travel on the high seas, just as the sun is starting to rise in the sky, you arrive. Weary and bleary eyed from the days of hard sailing (and hard work, as a way of paying for your passage), you follow the procession of passengers off the ship. Although you recognize some of the faces from your days upon the sea, you were kept far too busy for anything other than a few nods and grunts. You begin noticing the others, just as they are beginning to notice you.

If the rumors of Morgansfort are to be believed, and you have no reason to believe they should not be, you could very likely be dead by this time next week. Ah, the life of an adventurer seeking fortune and fame! It might not be a bad idea to make some acquaintances. Maybe even team up and join alliances...

(Ooc: Since its just me I edited the intro post.)

The little halfling was very glad to be off the ship of the big folk, he could not count the times he had almost been stepped on or shoved off the deck of the ship because the humans did not notice him. “Well, Mitzelflick ole chum you got what you wished for a new start now its up to you.” The words were mostly whispered though if one were standing close enough they probably could have heard what the halfling had said very clearly.  With that said the halfling squares away his gear and makes for the fort.
