Kyros so badly wanted to escort Amera home, but seeing the others make arrangements to proceed directly, he is forced to politely bow out. He promises to check in with her in the morning.

Staying silent in Bra'zi's spell, he watches the man closely. This really was not the way to start an amicable working relationship.

Garion can't quite get a read on the man.

Fadelby looks very smug with himself when Garion becomes visible. The man looks at the cord, which leads inside the room. "Yes. Well I am concerned that you could be displeased with my proposition rather than perceptive. It is only incentive to be assured that everyone will be civilized while we negotiate. That does remind me, I am under the effect of a Discern Lies spell, so please just tell the truth. "

"Now, to answer your questions, I have some questions of my own that I desperately need to find the answers to." He looks over to where Garion appeared. "Any of you can answer them. It doesn't have to be these two."

1.What became of Voz Lirayne?
2.Where are Voz’s notes about Alseta’s Ring?
3. What do you know about Alseta’s Ring?

Drasil remains silent in the invisibility sphere, both in the interest of advantage, and out of a petty reluctance to prove the human right.

But at the mention of the Aiudara he stiffens, and his smile turns cold. The human likely can't sense the hostility oozing from him. Within the bubble, he nudges Kyros and Braz'i, pointing to the door, which hangs just very slightly ajar, no doubt either a bolt hole, or swift path to the hostage.

Kuz'Arak grimaces as the man speaks of Voz "Voz? What dealings did you have with that treacherous woman. We know she was connected to some shadowy organization funding her research... You're not buying yourself the patience that you think you are threatening a member of the town like this. Drop the cord and we'll agree to a peaceful conversation" He advances to stand beside Garion with his hands raised showing he is unarmed

He is not holding the cord. It trails into the room behind him.

"As I said before, I have concerns about your reactions to my questions. He looks at you as well as the empty space Garion entered from. It would seem that my concerns were valid. Also, your next step or questionable motion will end our little meeting and poor Fadelby's life. Plus I have noticed that you have not responded to my questions."

Garion eyes the man carefully, "You have concerns?" The gnome looks confused. "Yet, we're the ones being threatened." He explains, "If anyone here is deserving of being concerned, it shall be us." Garion considers, "But as a matter of good faith, I'm happy to talk."

Garion sits on the edge of the nearby fireplace, takes out his Jug and pours himself a drink. "Relax. It's just ale." He quickly adds, "And it's not poisoned." Garion takes a sip. "Care to join me?" Garion pours an extra mug, offers it to our 'host', and says, "Voz Lirayne. Yes, the misguided bookseller at The Reliant Book Company." He laments, "A real shame. I loved that place..." He sighs and continues, "We tracked her down and delivered her to the authorities, along with her assistant Calmont." He turns to Kuz'Arak, "But she's since escaped, yes?"

Garion sips more ale and says, "Yes, we know about Alseta's Ring. We found Voz's notes in the back room of the bookstore." Garion studies the man carefully. "If you've done your research, you know Alseta is the elven goddess of portals and transitions. I trust you already know that her Ring functions as a gateway."

Garion stands and reasons, "Now it's your turn. May we know who you are? And what is your real business here?" Garion waits.

"Finally, some manners. Everyone in town says that you are a gnome of good character and good taste. However- and this pains me to do- I must decline that drink at this particular moment. I thought my intent to be obvious; to find out what Voz was able to learn. Like in the notes I asked you about and that you have yet to address."

He raises an eyebrow questioningly.

When the man turns down the drink, Garion nods, "Business first. I understand."

The gnome takes a drink and explains, "But I've addressed each of your questions." He holds up a finger, "You asked about Voz. I told you we believe she escaped." Holding up a second finger, "You asked about Voz's notes. I told you where we found them." He shrugs helplessly and adds, "I obviously don't have them with me." Holding up a third finger, "You asked about the Ring. I told you it's a gateway."

Garion stands and takes another sip from his mug. "My dear fellow, I think I've been quite forthcoming. Yet we don't know your name or why you want this information. If we're to work together, this must be a conversation, not a monologue." Garion waits. And ponders.

[Can Garion try another Make an Impression check? I don't think they stack like that, but the rules don't seem to disallow it.]

"Actually, I asked where the notes are now. Which, I noticed, you did not answer. However, in the spirit of dialogue, I shall repeat myself. I want to find out what Voz was able to learn. The aforementioned notes would aid me greatly in that, I believe. If you really wish to work together, I would have a mission for you. After we finish this bit of conversation first, you understand."

[Okay...time to have a little fun with magic ...]

When the man asks again about the notes, Garion responds, "I'm sure the notes are back at our Citadel, safely hidden away. My colleagues will know more." He adds, "If you can really discern lies, then you know I've been honest with you this entire chat." Finally, with a defeated sigh, yet with an odd twinkle in his teal eyes, he says somewhat dejectedly, "Okay everyone. I think it's ... Time To Talk."

As he says the phrase, "time to talk", he casts Time Jump.

[Time Jump is verbal only: "You gain 2 actions ... While you take these actions, time pauses. All other creatures are completely unaware of your actions ... Once the actions are complete, time starts again."]

With time stopped momentarily, Garion strides past the man into the next room. Unless he sees anything really unexpected, the gnome strides back to his exact location. As if he never left the spot.

[With 25' speed, Garion can easily stride into the back room with the 1st move action, and return to his location with the 2nd.]

That might be true, but, if he can cast spells (like Discern Lies), which he can, he might be able to identify it (or at least know one is being cast) and, if he has a readied action, still be able to do something. Just saying.

You still want to do that?

[Not sure how readied actions work outside of combat. Kinda thought you take 2 actions to ready 1 action, which has to be used before your next turn.]

[But, sure, let's just do it. Even if this guy knows a spell happened, Garion's right back where he started and didn't do anything offensive other than take a peek.]

[Having said all that, if even 1 player thinks it's a bad idea, speak up, and Garion won't do it. Maybe allow a day to see if anyone pipes up?]

Readied action was wrong. But it could start off combat. In this case, we'd roll initiative. Garion could use Arcana or Occult or whatever. Those in the Invisibility Sphere could use Stealth.

Also note that casting a spell, even a verbal only spell, is an obvious thing.

[If you're ruling that casting this non-offensive spell will send us into initiative, then Garion will not go through with it. Here's his revised post.]

When the man asks again about the notes, Garion responds, "I'm sure they're are back at our Citadel, safely hidden away. My colleagues will know more." He adds, "If you can really discern lies, then you know I've been honest with you this entire chat." He stares at the man and adds, "And I'll ask again: may we know your name, since you clearly know of the Bravos?" Not expecting much, Garion begins to pack up his jug and prepares to leave.
