"I'm in the protection business and marshes tend to be filled with all sorts of unfriendly humanoids, lizards with long pointy teeth and the like.", he declares his tone all business. "You can pretty much guarantee I'll be of use."

Arradon Delgaran, Harran Renegade

Arradon had been laying low in the city for quite some time after his last escapade. He'd had the feeling he was being watched; unfortunately, the former assassin was correct, and he'd found himself ambushed in an alley. While not the first time the exiled Thorn operative had been attacked in the city, he had grown soft and complacent. He had survived the scuffle, his would be attackers had not; however, he had been left with multiple deep stab wounds and a fractured arm.

That had been several days ago.

Arradon winced as he tried to lift the wine glass with his sling-bound arm. Seems the sawbones was right, no quick fix for thisHe let out a sigh before snatching the glass with his good arm and downing it in one go. He was pretty upset with himself for being so careless, he'd gotten too comfortable. He needed to lay low somewhere, ideally far from Venza. 

At that moment his keen ears caught the sound of opportunity when a would-be employer began making the rounds looking for some recruits. Normally, Arradon wouldn't have touched such a trifling matter; however, it seemed like an ideal opportunity to slip out of the city for a time. He listened intently from his booth as the man he recognized as a Barlow, a man he'd seen around the Dunn Wright on occasion, was joined by a human and a couple of half-orcs.

Deciding it was time to make his move, Arradon maneuvered his way to the table. He winced slightly as he sat down. He gives Borric a nod of greeting before addressing. "I couldn't help overhearing. As it happens, I would be willing to lend my skills to such a... venture."

A tired looking young man, hobbling along with the aid of a walking stick as tall as he was, trudged into the inn. He looked seasoned in spite of the white and gray of his vestments, and paused long enough to take stock of the room before sidling over to Lothar, waiting for a pause in the warrior's conversation before speaking up.

"Hey, Loth. Been a while." The young man said. "Been staying out of trouble since we dealt with that vineyard business?"

With a start Belyr looks up from his table, eyes a bit bleary from having dozed off momentarily in the comfortable chair, surrounded by the pleasant murmur of the inn's patrons. He looks at the mug of ale in his hands and smiles before downing it and standing up to stretch. "Maybe I'll head to bed - there could be a new job in the morning..." he says as he looks about for a moment, curious if any of his previous companions are around or not...

A middle-aged man wearing the livery of a manservant to one of Venza's noble houses enters the Dunn Wright Inn, an expression of brisk efficiency on his face. He looks around for a moment, as if unaccustomed to the sights of this establishment, but recovers his poise and walks over to the bar. Once he manages to catch Grog's eye, the two of them converse in hushed tones for a minute. The manservant thanks Grog, hands him a piece of card, then heads down the corridor and disappears from view. Somewhere down the hall, a door opens, then shuts again. Grog nods, then tacks the piece of card onto the board. He then casts a calculating eye across the assembled patrons in the taproom, and announces:

"Right... listen you lot - job waiting in Room Three!"

The card simply reads:

Assistance required. Discretion essential. Appropriate renumeration offered.

Other than that, the card only displays a sigil of some noble house or other.

Raph looked up and blinked as his name appeared on the list of wanted workers. "Huh. Seems so." He gave Lothar a wave as he stood. "Until next time, Loth." With that, the young priest hobbled his way onto the next job.

A fat middle aged man bursts into the room a bit sweaty and short of breath, clearly not used heavy activity. After stopping to catch his breath, he makes his way up to the bar and starts to speak with Grog, and very quickly develops a major frown. Those listening in catch words and phrases like "emergency," "need help now," and "I guess I will wait for more people." Eventually, he orders a hefty meal before settling into a corner table which a few minutes later is overflowing with what he described when ordering as a "light snack." It makes one wonder a bit what a full meal would look like, but it also explains the rather rotund nature of his appearance.

The game has not been made yet, but I figured those characters that are ready to go could start rping until I have a chance to get the game made and all the characters have checked into the Inn; I tried to include a picture and it failed completely

The giant doors of the Dunn Wright crack open, and in enters a little person. This gnome has light skin with wavy brown windswept hair, and a matching goatee. He's rather tall for a gnome, and can easily be confused for a skinny halfling. He is dressed in the natural greens and browns of forest hues. His curious eyes peer around and take a slow look about.

 

Finding himself lost in thought for a moment, it appears as if he reaches some internal decision. He takes a deep breath and initiates a proud little march up to the counter. He calls up to the keep in his energetic tenor, "An ale, please!" He sets down his pack aside the stool and hops on up and grabs a seat.

Brengwynn nurses her ale, regretting once again leaving home for the big city and a life of adventure. Adventure so far seemed to involve spending all her savings on overpriced gear and waiting a lot. She takes her half filled tankard to the bar to speak to Grog. Grog seemed nice at least, a bit gruff but ever so helpful, "Was that gentleman hiring adventurers?"

She stands next to the seated gnome, offering him a friendly smile by way of greeting.

Tzac Xalatlson


Drink acquired successfully, Tzac settles down a bit and spends some time silently observing the comings and goings of the Inn's common room. He is very excited to have finally arrived in the establishment he has heard so much about from the sailors on the ship during the long voyage east; it is one of the highlights of Venza, this enormous city of marvels, and he fully intends to make the most of his visit. So far, the place is full of interesting-looking people. He raises his pint drink and grins a toothy greeting to the brown-haired woman a bit further down the bar, keen to make friends among the other clientele. When a windswept-looking gnome jumps up onto a stool in between them and orders the same drink as him, he repeats the process: "Gree-tings to you! This ale, it truly excellent is, yes? Tzac I am; you are being adventurers, yes?" He says the word 'adventurers' with a tone of awe, having lapped up the sailors' tales of the kinds of people frequenting this place.

When the fat man rushes in and approaches Grog, Tzac's curiosity is piqued. "He has a problem he has needed solved, you think?", he asks the other two, indicating the man with a nod of his head.

Tryffl's head spins from side to side as he is being simultaneously addressed by taller folk on either side of him. "Er, um, yes... I do believe that gentlemen needs the help of... adventurers." This is the first time he has said the word aloud to himself, about himself. His shaky hands match his unsure voice, the cause of both being equal parts anxiety and excitement.

 

That same courage feeds his courtesy. He extends his hands to those on either side of him. "My name's Tryffle, what's yours?"
