 The Lights In The Dark.

Your efforts are brave.

Your results are disheartening.

Then Robin calls upon a divine power in a flash of light.

There is a tremendous surge of power that radiates from the young man, a burning light that feels as though the sun itself were reaching down into the depths. Its touch feels welcome on your skin and it forces the shadows to flee from its presence. There is no reaction from your attackers - only an instance where they cease to exist in an explosion of dust that leaves the air with a new scent of something odd. The skulls linger airborne but for a moment, each turning their faces to snarl at Robin before they, too, follow the masses of white-grey into cessation-

All around you, the large heaps of bone become drastically reduced in number. Maybe a third is left?

All is quiet. All is calm.

Awoo patters over to Chira to seek reward headrubs.

Doallyn holds his sunrod up in mild disbelief, wincing at his slowly mending injury.

All is quiet. All is calm.

What next?

Combat Details

Congratulations. You have triumphed.

"Right, well... That's done..." the dragon did what seemed to be the species equivalent of a cough, a combination of his hypothesis about the 'safe path' being proven quite wrong, the fact that it had caused the person who had spoken against the plan being injured, and the fact that his attempts to strike down the skeletons before the encounter was, fortunately, brought to a swift end by the favor of Robin's deity.

An awkward twitch of the beast followed as he stood on the edge of the elevator. "...Is that it for the traps? There was other spells in waiting, weren't there?"

Robin Kirkko

egXhMPu.jpgThe smallest spark of the Goddess of Love's divinity seems to rest on him for just a few moments before it fades away and Robin is an ordinary mortal again, albeit a handsome one with a very self-satisfied smile. "Praise Sune for giving us victory against such hideous monsters. And look how many of the rest of the bones were destroyed by her hand! I suppose that probably covers the other traps."

Description

Robin is a straw haired tomcat. He is tall, strapping, and handsome, with blonde hair carefully tousled for a rakish look, blue eyes, and a strong jaw. He always dresses in clothes that show off his physique. He is, as one would expect of a cleric of Sune, incredibly vain and considers his hair his best feature. His focus on superficial matters might give the impression that he isn't all that bright. One the other hand, be sincerely sees the beauty in other people--whether outer beauty or inner beauty. He carries a shield depicting the face of a beautiful red haired maiden, and has a rosary of glass beads with the same symbol on the end dangling from his belt.

There's an indignant huff from the dragon, as well as a flicker of his frills, somewhat resembling a child being scolded, but he doesn't otherwise speak as he glances around for any changes after the bones were put back to rest.

 The Lights In The Dark.

Kaldakaczil

From his position Kaldakaczil can see that the mounds have dissipated. While the ground is still littered with the remains of the dead, the largest gatherings have faded into literal dust that is already vanishing like wind. It is easy for the dragon to make out easily trraversable paths now.

Additionally, being a dragon, Kaldakaczil thinks he sees a shiny thing or two in the now cleared space. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, maybe there's something to be found?

Doallyn

Doallyn remarks out loud on how so much bone mass could vanish all because Robin called upon a divine power. It is very strange even for a mage like himself. The wizard goes on to wonder out loud if the young priest happens to know how that's possible? Doallyn tries to wrack his mind over it but cannot form too much of a conclusion quite yet. He also fidgets with his injury, which is still mending but almost closed, which reminds Doallyn to express his thanks to Chira for her swift action and her idea to purchase the wand.

"Well, while we discuss if we should be heading towards that northern doorway or not," the dragon grumbled slightly, taking a glance across the hint of treasure his draconic senses perceived, "I think I perceive something where these bone piles uses to be... Remains of the reagents used to craft those... strange skeletons perhaps? Or something else of value dragged along from where the skeletons were hauled from?"

He'd cautiously begin to look across the floor, and assuming no one had any objections, start trying to collect or point out the various things of value he thought he spotted.

spacer.pngspacer.pngChara climbed back on Awoo's back and rode to the edge of the circle, looking out across the denuded field of bones toward the north and scanning for what the dragon spoke of, before he began rummaging in what piles of ossuary fragments remained.  "Remnants of reagents you seek?"

The bat woman frowns slighty, looking across the field and clearly making out glitters, but not in the bone piles, rather in the open spaces where they used to be. Riding Awoo, Chira makes her way toward the nearest that she can see.

DESCRIPTION Elia is a small kobold, well, a dragon really, barely over 2' tall with a tail that is actually a bit longer than she is tall. Her scales are purple, violet, and pink shades, quite vibrant, and her eyes are a luminous aqua blue-green (heavy on the blue). Her fins are more flexible than that of standard kobolds with stronger, more controlled support spines that allow her to flex and relax them, giving her much better control maneuvering in water than her land-bound brethren.

Her "leather" armor, a bluish-gray toned material is rough to the touch, covered in small cartilage ridges from the sea eel its crafted from.

With the burst of holy energy quite literally vaporizing the skeletons as well as a large quantity of the bones scattered across the floor Elia stood in places, startled by their sudden disappearance. Still, with the skeletons gone its not as if she needed the cover anyways. She glanced around as the others started to move around. She laughed quietly, "Ah, the holy ones always have a way against the restless ones. Very good!" With the area much clearer she started exploring it with the others.

 The Lights In The Dark.

Kaldakaczil

Kaldakaczil makes a discovery of somewhat morbid nature. Someone has hollowed out a large skull that, at his guess, belonged to a large creature. The interior is filled with silver coins that bear heavy coatings of dirt and dust. The skull is heavy but movable if the dragin rolls it. Some of the the silvery coins have come to spill out from holes that look like they were waxed shut; gathering them is not particularly difficult.

Chira & Awoo

Chura and her companion search with care and discover a something hidden underneath several collapsed and - dare she say it? - unnaturally twisted looking remains. From the clamped jaws of some grisly beast skull, Chira recovers a damaged satchel that is coming apart in her hands. Most of the contents are rotten, or far too damaged to mend, unless she wanted to make strips of cloth for torches and kindling for fire, save for one - buried at the heart of all other bundles, there is a lovingly wrapped wax leather package that contains an ornate dagger that looks like it belongs in the arms of someone immensely rich.

Elia

Elia's enthusiasm sees her skittering here and there, searching and looking.

Although she doesn't find gold, Elia does come upon someone's old boots, which have two clawed hands still gripping them.. They look rather sturdy and, if Elia's ears are working right, there's something hidden in the left boot. Further examination confirms that the left boot weighs a bit more than the right one... But turning them upside down reveals nothing? And shaking won't bring the thing out of the boot?

Doallyn

Doallyn keeps watch while everyone else searches. Being a wizard, he offers to examine all items for magic.

Chira will examine the dagger to see if she can get a general idea of its value, Then, the bat woman will make strange clicking noises and gesture casting a spell to detect magical auras. The spell lasts only a minute, but she will concentrate on the dagger to analyze its magic, if it has any, after which she will scan the area to see if any other auras show up.

Robin Kirkko

egXhMPu.jpg"Golly, maybe it's a curse? Some kind of effect could have trapped them here. I wouldn't want to die here if that's the case. Not that I would want to die anywhere! I think I remember Reverend Mother Claire talking about undead that return again and again. I am sure I don't remember all the details, but maybe there is someone up top with more expertise or a good library." He potters on as he tip toes his way through the bones, shining the light of the everburning torch down on them for any clues. He then heads north looking for the wall, stopping when the rest of the crew is at the edge of the torchlight.

He wasn't exactly sure if the coin-stuffed skull was some sort of burial practice or if this strange 'coin purse' was some creation of whomever had put the boneheads together. Glancing towards Robin for confirmation on spiritual guidance on whether to indulge his avaristic nature or not, the dragon would shepherd the coins into the pack the cleric had given to him - assuming he didn't shake his head at the idea - before following after the man towards the doorway to the north.

 The Lights In The Dark.

Kaldakaczil

Kaldakaczil counts a shiny total of forty-three silvers in total. Rolling the spilled coins back into the skull is easy if a bit grim as far as task go, as is the task of somehow fitting the skull in his pack so that Kaldakaczil can have his limbs free.

With his loot secure, the dragon can follow the young priest without problem.

Robin

Somehow - in a stroke of pure luck, surely? - Robin literally stumbles upon a very well hidden path that takes a direct heading away from the lift. It looks to be about where  Kaldakaczil can confirm spotting the beginnings of the path earlier. Robin's approach lets him walk the path in a very straigthforward manner until he is at the edge of the light. He still doesn't see doors, but he feels a certainty in his steps. This is a path made by someone, Robin feels, and it goes somewhere.

Chira & Awoo

The silver dagger is not magical in any manner, but it is marvelous quality. The blade is sharp and shiny under the light of Doallyn's torch light. As Chira turns the dagger in her hands as part of the examination she cannot help but note that the metal itself is in pristine state and the sheath that it is secured in is almost as clear save for some stains that should be easy to wash away. The pommel looks to be an emerald carved and sheathed in some stone-esque layer, or at least it looks incredibly similar to an emerald by Chira's estimate. Similar hues are etched in ornamental manner all over the cross-guard as well.

Chira is certain this is a masterful piece of work very well worth a very hefty amount of gold.

Doallyn & Elia

Elia brings the boots over to Doallyn who takes over the examination of the boots while Elia keeps watch with all the focus a kobold of her status and stature can. Doallyn's own examination confirms that there is something to the boot. The mage surmizes that there is a hidden cache somewhere in the boot, most likely a false heel of some manner that he can't find on a quick search. Doallyn remarks, upon seeing Elia's let down expression, that he would feel better going over the boot with much more time somewhere not here. The encounter with the skeletons has left him strongly disinclined to spend time in this particular chamber, especially if he needs to analyze something with all due care.

Doallyn does remark that the boots in and of themselves don't seem to be of exceptional quality, or material. And neither are they magical.

Furthermore!

"Robin! Kaldakaczil! Where are you two going!?" Doallyn calls at the wandering forms of Robin and Kaldakaczil, who are on the very edge of the sunrod's shadowy illumination.

It was clearly obvious to anyone that the kobold was disappointed. Finding something that had a secret in it but at the same time wasn't important enough to be concerned with until a later time had dashed her excitement. For a few moments she'd thought she'd stumbled across something only to have that idea crushed with a few additional words from Doallyn. She knew that everything couldn't be an amazing discovery, she could after all be practical, but for a moment the idea of some hidden treasure had been exhilarating. The small frown that remained on her face was subtle but there as she mulled about Doallyn, waiting for them all to regroup and move on together.

She looked at the him and bobbed her head and upper torso. "Thanks Doallyn. Very big boots! Hard to look at." She smiled, the disappointment short lived as it typically was. The fact was that managing the boot, holding it and prodding at it, had been difficult for her as it was quite literally the same size as half her arm. The weight itself wasn't too much of course but it was simply awkward. Had she thought about it ahead of time she'd likely have simply left it on the ground while examining it but coming back to the center of things had seemed a much safer idea, one it seemed the two stragglers didn't share currently.

"Maybe we should catch up to them before they wander too far?" Elia suggested aloud, but tenuously. The darkness didn't bother her, at least not as far as she could see clearly but she knew from experience that many creatures could see further than she could. Tempting fate wasn't something she was interested in doing in the least.
