Robin Kirkko

egXhMPu.jpgRobin wanders out into the fields of bones with one of the everburning torches as if there is no danger at all. "Now now, we can hardly be explorers if we hang around the platform all day! See, we're finding all the good loot already. Sune is really looking down on us. Hello, it looks like there's a path here. See how there are fewer bones and the dust is disturbed? Something has been coming and going this way I am sure! Why don't we see where it goes?"

The dragon hurried along to catch up with the priest, and once there, slithers a few steps forward to try and take up the position just in front, owing to his superior sturdy construction - he might not have the armor, but at least he could take a hit. He hoped. That, and his vision was unperturbed by the lack of light. "They lead to a steady set of doors... We should be careful. Whomever created those skeletons might be lurking just behind."

DESCRIPTION Elia is a small kobold, well, a dragon really, barely over 2' tall with a tail that is actually a bit longer than she is tall. Her scales are purple, violet, and pink shades, quite vibrant, and her eyes are a luminous aqua blue-green (heavy on the blue). Her fins are more flexible than that of standard kobolds with stronger, more controlled support spines that allow her to flex and relax them, giving her much better control maneuvering in water than her land-bound brethren.

Her "leather" armor, a bluish-gray toned material is rough to the touch, covered in small cartilage ridges from the sea eel its crafted from.

Elia had been distracted by the boot but the others, finally moving forward, got her attention once again. As they hurried forward to catch up to Robin the small kobold followed suit. Despite their hurry, she stepped through what remained of the "bone field," as she thought of it, with a bit of caution still. Her unease clear to any as she looked about nervously. "Another door. Every door always has something behind it that wants to kill or eat us or something else to us!" Elia blurted out with a mix of apprehension and excitement. Most of the goal of making these treks was obviously to discover new things and take care of dangerous creatures so it wasn't like she didn't expect it. She grinned, for her a slight creasing uptick of her mouths outermost edge skin, an expression often unnoticed by most. "I'm ready when everyone else is! Let's see what's behind it."

 The Doors

The handsome priest and the golden dragon take point while the rest of the group follows. At an inevitable point all members have converged upon Kaldakaczil's location and thus become aware that some hundred feet of distance ahead, there awaits a set of doors. In the light brought by the party's members Kaldakaczil's senses are sharp enough that the draconic eyes reveal this much.

The doors are a very large set of twin doors hewn into the stone itself. Both of them are in very good condition on this side and possess sturdy looking door handles that look like they are used to move the stone. The trail that you walk ends upon them, you also note.

Set upon a scone on each side of a door so that you cannot miss it once you come upon the door, there is a large looking torch sconce made of metal, each one of which containts a large, unlit torch. At this distance Kaldakaczil's eyesight is good enough to identify the sconces as iron, dark and to notice that there is some strange looking chipping on the sconces' surfaces. The torches look like the usual kind if perhaps much larger than normal, and can't see anything off about them from this distance.

Lastly but importantly, Kaldakaczil also sees that the wall surrounding the doors has been covered in... something that may or may not be runes, or scribbles, or claw marks. Kaldakaczil would need to get closer, but it' is a certain that some kind of markings cover the wide, wide wall around the doors.

spacer.pngspacer.pngChira was riding Awoo with the others towards the huge double doors. "Very large this place is, also strangely is it spaced. The darkness a strange seeming it gives. Disorienting it is. On a set path we are with no options I feel, this sensation, sharing it you all are?" As she rides she is constantly keeping her eyes and ears swiveling in this shadowed place.

As the dragon continues forward with the party towards the next obstacle, the door, he notes the different strange oddities. The odd chipping on the torch scones makes him ponder if its part of the puzzle to open these doors, much like the hands from the first one, but then he notices the scratching around the door, which causes him to pause, sliding his tail in front of Robin to get him to stop as well for the moment.

"Hold a moment. Before we get to close, there's something scratched on the side of the door... claw marks or maybe even runes... It could be a ward," he spoke, turning his gaze towards the marks. Maybe they were carved using the iron scones? He wasn't sure, but he still tried to cast a wary gaze over the runes to see if he could determine their effect. "Doallyn, do you mind taking a look when your light illuminates them for you as well?"

spacer.pngspacer.pngChira rides Awoo to the double doors and looks over what is called writing, pondering that for a time, then examines it closer for the possibility of any kind of trap mechanism. "An old rogue within my home village there was, showed me something about traps and things. Never good at it I was, taking from others, the way of a parasite is, decomposers I prefer." As she does this she is still constantly keeping her eyes and ears open to other threats.

With little to do Elia hangs back behind the other fiddling with a pair of small bones she'd picked up from the remaining scattered piles behind them. She tucked one into her belt and then used the other to draw shapes in the dust as she waited for the door to be examined by the others. * Boooring.... booring... hmm...* Elia started drawing along the wall as she walked up it without consideration.

 The Doors

As you begin your examinations, you soon enough learn that the walls you are studying are covered with a great many scribbles of rather questionable nature. Among the scratches you find meaninless scribbles that begin at rude insults aimed at persons now-unknown and then run the gamut to brave declarations of mighty intent befoer they then lead to manyfold oaths of vengeance upon the Tavern's proprietor for reasons left entirely unmentioned - although you do find a rather explicity carving near that particular chickenscratch...

All in all, you could lose yourself in trying to record even a half of these writings upon the walls!

Doallyn breaks your moment by remarking that he is certain he is seeing some manner of a runework upon the entire door frame as well as where the sconces sit but it's all be torn at that he is certain nothing magical remains in them. Doallyn is of the opinion is that the only way he could make any heads of tails of them would be by making copies or each and every single one of them as they are and then delving very deep into archives - several archives very likely - and even then he gives pooor odds. Most perplexingly, Doallyn adds, there are many kinds of lines in arcane stylings, and also in languages Doallyn has studied, sometimes ubstituting for what almost makes an upside-down kind of sense. If you get Doallyn three sheets to the wind he might have a chance to make sense of it?

Doallyn ends his theorizing by stating that he finds it very strange how all four elemental languages are present in the scrawls here and there, when they ought to be vanishingly rare under more normal circumstances due to how the four elements are the opposite of commonplace.

While all this happens...

Elia wanders off and helps herself to a few things of interest to distracted herself with.

Chira examines the doorway in full with Awoo's help.

Chira examines the door, its handles, its torches, their sconces and their details, the floor and all that.

Robin makes himself useful in general to everyone, and looks handsome while doing that.

Kaldacazil assists as much as he can in the research of the carvings.

spacer.pngspacer.pngChira examines the sconces pointing to the right one. "Blood on this sconce there is, a trap thereby may be indicated; the lifting of it, I will not be doing." Looking at the writing, she nods, "Much of this I can read, but the writing more than the reading informs. Languages of below these all are: abyssal, deep speech, primordial and undercommon of course."

"These mad scrawls... Someone trapped down here? Or perhaps the remains of the runes underneath are of a now destroyed ward, much like the one that leaves the Underdark to the tavern, with these new writings being some perverse venting as someone struggled against it?" the dragon muses, glancing towards the scones, then towards the door, thinking. "I can try to open the door when we run out of ideas, but considering the door above, there's likely some mechanical contraption involved to bar it. The simplest I can think of is lifting the scone without blood from its place, but that seems almost too simple an answer. Then again... The first one just required us to shake the door knob's hand..."

 The Doors

Doallyn looks at Chira when she delivers her results and then, with concern growing on his features, backs up a very safe distance from the doors, the torches and then of the general vicinity of either of the two. Once he is at least twenty feet away, Doallyn speaks up.

"Before our brave dragon risks his limb, do you mind if I try the torch with a ghostly one?" Doallyn suggests from a safe distance. "A hand conjured up by a spell is less difficult to replace than a living dragon, so I'd rather see a dragon in need of a hand if we can help it."
