Gremlin caves

T'Sarra jumped when Val screamed and moved up to her side, taking the healing wand out and touching it to her.

"Val! Oh I hate these guys. You'll be alright." she healed her, then looked ahead.

"OK fine. Step back Val, let me take over. I'll go first. No point in being stealthy now, they obviously know we're here."

She moved up sweeping her spear before her, poking out as far ahead as she could, like a blind man with a big cane, hoping to trigger any trap before they got close enough to get hit by it.

 

Mechanics
 

Heal Val for 6, then move forward again, this time leading and sweeping her spear in front of her trying to trip any triggers. Moving into Val's square then N and E until she sees something or sets off a trap.

Black Hill Caves — Gremlin Caves — Immediate

As T'Sarra comes forward up to Val's side, she suddenly feels something tense snap and give way in front of her ankle.

 

spacer.pngAt that moment, before T'Sarra even manages to activate the wand to heal Val, a mess of jagged metal spikes spring out from the low ceiling, a couple of them stabbing into the tiefling's body and several others impaling Val against the cave wall. After a shrill scream, Val's body slackens as she falls unconscious from the bleeding…

"That's the reason," Vri said after the critter stabbed Val. When the trap hits, she immediately jumps forward and starts looking around, just in case the critters would use this moment to attack. She can't do much to help people bleeding out, but she can protect those who can.

Barhuce

Barhuce holds his position and watches the tunnel the group wasn't heading down. T'sarra should be able to handle the healing and he just needs to make sure nothing gets at them from behind while that happens.

Gremlin caves

T'Sarra swore quietly as the trap hit, frustrated with all of it.

"Val! Oh for the love of all... Hold on! If any of you see any little buggers keep them off of us." she healed her, then again, and a third time before getting herself.

 

Mechanics
 

Heal Val for 6, for real this time? Maybe? Rolled in previous post. Then further heals... for 4 to Val - think she's still down a couple but should be able to stand up I hope? Then 8 to me back to full health. Assuming we don't get attacked in the middle of the three rounds this is going to take...

As Barhuce and Vri filled in to guard the two wounded, the alchemist could hear some shuffling and whispers in the distance, faintly to his northeast. But too late. A trio of the nasty bat-eared gremlins had already somehow surrounded the half-elf without her being able to notice, each taking stabs at her with their cruel-looking, pointy little swords.

As the oracle activated the wand and used it to heal Val, Barhuce watched in horror as the creepy little creatures stabbed Vri, bringing her down outflanking her with several little cuts as she parries one enemy only to expose herself to the next.

 

All he could do out of frustration was to fling his mace at the group of them, though he managed only to miss horribly in doing so.

As the first critter attacked, Vri moved her rapier with lightning speed to get it between the critter and herself, pushing its attack to the side. She immediately tries to take it out with a quick reposte.

"Some healing would be nice," she shouts at the rest of the group.

Gremlin caves

T'Sarra jumped then cursed as she managed to land one heal on Val, hopefully enough to get her up and around. But racing heals was a losing game here. She needed to fight back!

"Rain! Get your pretty arse up here and bring the little wand. Vri needs some healin and I plan on getting stabby!" she stepped back away to get her spear free to fight, then stabbed at the same one Vri tried to take out.

"There, room for you to get next to Vri. I'll try to keep this one off your back."

Barhuce tries something stupid and moves deeper into the path they didn’t take, which does seem to loop around. He chucks a bomb at the ground behind the pair of gremlins in front of Vri, aiming to hit them with the splash.

Before Vri and Barhuce, past the pair of gremlins, the pair of passageways seem individually to converge on a narrow ledge overlooking a rubble-filled cavern. The far wall is made of a smooth, dark gray metal. A single closed circular door sits on the metal wall just above the height of the rubble.


Rain and the android looked at one another after the short kerfuffle of commotion up front, and Violet immediately hustled up beside T'Sarra, bringing her blunderbuss on aim and fired in the direction of the lone gremlin, though the shot only managed to chip off a few small jagged pieces of stone as it embeds itself into the cave wall.

 

Then the shaman followed Violet in, waving off the wisps of acrid smoke from the recent firearm discharge. Risking the danger of receiving the business end of the gremlin's jagged sword, Rain cast a healing spell on Val, further remedying her wounds. "ሣየጣኪ ኒሀህኑኲ የየጤየኡካኴ"


As T'Sarra and Vri kept the gremlin busy ducking and dodging their attacks, Val availed herself of the metal spikes from the trap and tossed them onto the cave floor, swearing some fierce under her breath.

 

Barhuce, making his way around the corner, lobs a bomb at the ground behind the other gremlins flanking Vri, completely drenching the one while the other seems to have managed to dodged the worst of it.

The one gremlin that got the full acid bath spa treatment shrieks, then takes a step away from the action. Deciding it doesn't want anything to do with it anymore, it utters some incoherent mumbo jumbo, and simply disappears from sight. "Zik'den'vever obsul"Undercommon: "Dimension door"


The other two however decide to stay and fight, and they continue to gang up on Vri, with one of the managing to slice the half-elf on the hamstring and bite down on her thigh at the same time. Vri falls unconscious from the onsault of vicious little attacks.

T'Sarra missed badly. She thought about circling around to come up behind but Barhuce seemed to have that flank nailed down. So she tried again, after seeing Vri take another nasty stab for good measure.

"Vri! Oh you little annoying!" she grumbled and stabbed.

"ሣየጣኪ ኒሀህኑኲ የየጤየኡካኴ" Seeing the situation at the battlefield turn for the worse for her allies, Rain risks another attempt at a healing spell directed at the unconscious Vri. The adjacent gremlin manages to smack her up a little bit as the shaman begins her casting, but not enough to prevent the curative hand from delivering the prone half-elf from her insensate swoon. "Hey keep'em off of me for a hot moment, will ya?"


Having had little luck earlier with her firearm, she doesn't bother reloading it just now, instead she draws her dagger and whips it at the little ugly creature, but even that doesn't manage to connect, only clattering to the ground harmlessly after pinging off the cave wall.

 

With all the activity in between her and the gremlin, T'Sarra is just not able to get a stab in with her spearhead.

 

After dealing with the spike trap, Val finally joins the fight with her rapier, skewering the little grimacing beast in the right arm momentarily as she cuts him.

 

Spurred on by his earlier success, Barhuce lobs another of his bombs at the same spot on the floor, only this time he's manages to completely drench the one gremlin that remains in his blast radius.


Doing some awkward version of the funky chicken, the gremlin Barhuce splashed backed off as well, chanting something incomprehensible before he too disappears into thin air. "Zik'den'vever obsul"Undercommon: "Dimsension door"


The one remaining gremlin looks at his retreating mobbies, but risks one more stab at Val, albeit without any success.
