Cufwell braces for the impact of the huge warrior and is simply swept off his feet and smashed in to the tree trunk for his efforts; he feels ribs crack and spits up some blood with a cough. "okay friend; if that's how you want to play this, we can play rough!"

Weird Cave

Naomi

Naomi claws and bites and hits with a spiritual weapon for 83 damage. One of the tree's main branches cracks and falls to the ground, momentarily imbalancing it as it attempts to remain intact and able to fight.

NPC Thralls

((I just realized that I forgot to move Oswald's constructs last turn. Oh well. They're moved now. I also skipped over my remaining Expert, so I'll roll for him now.))

The two warriors double-move to nearly reach Cufwell's position with their hasted speeds.

With Ukumalei putting herself between the expert and Oswald, the expert steps to the right to get an angle, and takes aim at Oswald, his glowing eyes showing no emotion as he advances.

Shortbow (atk; dmg; Skirmish)

The shot goes wide, and Oswald is easily able to avoid it.

Jarren Grayson, the Nightshade

image.jpeg.7ee722c41543eea6cfe96701d4f48ece.jpeg

"OOF!" Jarren grunted, taking the blow from the war hulk. Feeling himself get thrown to the ground, he crashed onto the grass hard, and had to take a moment to recover. "I'm definitely feeling that tomorrow," he thought to himself, gritting his teeth.

Propping himself up on his elbows, he wiped a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth, looked up at Grugurg, and reluctantly said, "Friend, if you're in there... I'm sorry about this."

In a blur of motion, the Nightshade suddenly kipped up and darted forward. Grugurg barely had time to register the shadow moving his way as he rolled between the giant warrior's legs, popping up on the other side. A moment later, two blades plunged into his back, keenly aimed to take him down as swiftly and mercifully as possible.

OOC: Yeouch. 30 points of damage (reduced by 1 from DR).

Okay, time to break out the big moves.

Swift Action: Jarren activates his Belt of Battle to grant him another standard action, depleting the belt of its remaining charges for the day.

Move Action: Jarren will Tumble through Grugurg's space onto the other side. With a 30 minimum on the check, I don't think I need to roll, but I will if @Blue Jay would like. Even with environmental effects like "severely obstructed" or "severely slippery", he still hits the DC of 30. If a roll is required, I'll be applying a use of Jarren's Daredevil Athlete feat to add another +5 to the roll for a 35 minimum.

The successful Tumble triggers his Acrobatic Strike feat, which grants a +4 untyped bonus to his next attack roll against Grugurg this round. It also triggers his Acrobatic Backstab skill trick, which means he treats Grugurg as flat-footed against his next melee attack.

Standard Action(s): Jarren takes both of his standard actions to attack Grugurg. If these hit, both will deal sneak attack damage. Technically, since these are two separate standard actions and not a full attack, he gets full BAB to each attack. For style reasons, he'll make one attack with each weapon he's holding: his Rogue Blade first, and his +2 Short Sword second. With his Vexing Flanker feat, these attacks gain another +4 bonus to hit.

For clarity, the Rogue Blade attack has a +8 bonus on top of its normal attack modifier, and treats Grugurg as flat-footed. The Short Sword attack only has a +4 and rolls against normal AC.

Reaction: In the event Grugurg still survives long enough to make an attack on his turn, Jarren's Opportunist ability from his guild fires, granting him an opportunity attack, which presumably comes with its own sneak attack due to flanking.

TLDR: Jarren Tumbles through Grugurg's space. If Grugurg's AC (regular or flat-footed) is 29 or lower, Jarren deals 72 magical piercing damage and 4 cold damage. If Grugurg makes an attack on his next turn, Jarren gets an opportunity attack, dealing another 45 magical piercing damage and 2 cold damage.

As Jarren rolls under the big guy Cufwell initially steps further away from Grugurg and then appears immediately in front of him already swinging his blades with Tanu rounding the corner for the pincer move; "good girl!" He mutters as he strikes.

OOC: 5FS south and then 10' teleport to get adjacent as per previous image to get flanking. +2 damage from flanking with Tanu, +2 to hit for flanking, FRA AC+4 (skirmish) any hit with the Secondary weapon reduces AC by 1 for the round (does not stack)

Weird Cave

Jarren & Cufwell

After Grugurg's full frontal assault, Jarren and Cufwell get back up and bring their best against the war hulk. Jarren slips past Grugurg and gets in a good double-stab where Grugurg isn't ready for it.

As Tanu rushes across the battlefield to distract Grugurg, Cufwell teleports into place and slashes away at the big war hulk with his axes. Never have they slashed with such conviction and precision, carving into Grugurg cleanly and brutally.

Grugurg's

Grugurg simply isn't quick enough to keep up with his two attackers, and he soon stumbles to his knees. But, he has one last trick up his sleeve before he collapses entirely. He seems to steel himself, and with a great war cry, he lashes out one more time with his maul, flailing it all around himself. ((He's obviously dead, but he gets to make one more Massive Swing as his Death Throes, this time targeting Cufwell, Jarren and Tanu; and using Power Attack for -10/+20. But, he can't use his Knockback feat this time.))

Greathammer (atk; dmg)

He hits all three of you, but the momentum of his swing imbalances him, and he lands flat on his face in the earth. His greathammer flies out of his hands and slams into the ground at Terry's feet.

Grugurg is unmoving, face down on the ground.

Terry reaches back into the cave after the second archer, his wide sweep catching the man before he could escape.

Crunch

Miss chance 50% really kinda stings. Although he is at +8 to-hit.

..... Pretty sure that missed. not positive. is it low or high that misses?

ohh well. was hoping to take a few steps west, guess it's just a FRA and 5' west now.

and I mucked up the to-hit roll for the first claw (it deleted dice twice, because I clicked in-line with the removal x, but nowhere near the x itself. UGG), not that it matters since it failed the miss chance anyways.

I found my old rolling standard. I think that's *one* hit. by the tail.

Oswald Magismith, the Magical Artisan

Oswald takes a second to consider their options before pulling a single coin out of a belt pocket. Holding the coin aloft, "If you think that is the best course of action, I might still have a couple tricks up my sleeve. But the odds still won't be much better than a flip of a coin. I'll need about half a minute, maybe a little less. Think your wish can restore the forge by then, Lady Ukumalei?"

Actions: Infusing Skill Enhancement (Craft [Weaponsmithing]) as a 3rd level infusion on Oswald's belt.

Weird Cave

Oswald & Terry

As Oswald returns to his crafting, Terry reaches back through the opening and grabs the last archer, beating him unconscious.

Demiplane

As the corrupted Barkeeper's minions dwindle, the demiplanar magic around you seems to shift. The storm of vengeance effect subsides, but in its wake is a dreadful calm.

The tree attempts to stomp on Naomi again:

Slam (atk;dmg)

As that happens, one of the two enthralled warriors suddenly doubles over in pain, groaning terribly. There's a terrible creak as his armor bursts open and his clothing tears away. His body burgeons horribly and darkens like a terribly, scaly bruise. A pair of massive, purple wings spread from his back, and a mouth full of dagger-like teeth covers his face. He has been transformed into an enormous purple dragon!

Weird Cave

Naomi

(( @paladinred, Rake is not the same thing as Rend. Rake is the one that lets you use your hind limb claws when you Pounce.))

With claws spiritual and physical, Naomi continues slashing away at the giant tree, dancing about beneath its legs and leaping up to slash at its branches as they come within reach. Eventually, the beleaguered tree succumbs, splitting into two parts the come crashing down on either side of Naomi.
