Yorp The Lantern-Bearer

The lantern-bearer rises from his crouch and leans into the room, peering from side to side, though his view is mostly blocked by stacked crates. "Maybe tracks? None here that I can see. Anything higher, up on boxes?"

Tala Silvergrave

"Doubtful - " answering Yorp, Talas nose wrinkles as she moves through the stacks of crates, gauntleted hand trailing and stirring up whorls and eddies of dust that glint and fade like fireflies in the lanternlight.

"Worth the question but these environs feel well ought abandoned." moving towards another stack of crates, she rapped upon the wood with the edge of her shield.

"It may be worth prying them open, but it would be odd for the old masters of this place to take the care to pack their valuables up and them merely leave them.  A wager then, rotted stores and ill furnitute?  Winner who proves the notion wrong gets bragging rights and first claim on whatever they find?"

ACTIONS: move in, examine the top of the crates per Yorp's query for tracks or disturbances and then pry as many crates open as she can in the span of an exploration turn.

"Maybe they had to leave in a hurry, or perhaps went out and were slain along the way?  We've already found more valuables than I've seen in my life, and I certainly wouldn't wish to place ill luck upon such potential here," Astrid says, as she continues working at boxes herself.

"With luck, expensive artifacts that are easily transported and sold, ideally with no stamps of ownership upon them that are claimable."

Stoyan Barakovsen

Stoyan had heard of dwarves searching through a find for treasure only to have an enemy creep up on them and attack. He did not enter the store room but kept a careful guard outside, "Whatever you find is split between us all, remember?"

Astrid tries in vain to pry open the nearest set of boxes. The lids seem to be firmly, almost impossibly firmly, attached.

When Tala bangs on one of the dust-covered crates with her shield, suddenly a deep voice comes from the largest box in the southwest corner. "Who's there?"

Yorp the Lantern-Bearer

Narrowing suspicious eyes, Yorp cranes his neck to peer back into the corner where this voice has come from, before reaching up and putting the lantern atop the crate next to the door, then clambers up the rough wood, takes the lantern up once more, and tries to shine the light over the dark corners of the room.

Tala Silvergrave

Tala nearly jumps back at the sound of the voice, her surprise only heightened by Astrid's sudden . . . ruse?  Persona?  Job change?  Hefting her shield in one hand and shooting a "what in Freya's ever loving fr*ck?!" glare at her fellow Cleric, Tala gestured in a roundabout motion to Yorp with the other.  Hoping the mute suggestion to flank the, erm, crate translated into gesture, she cleared the throat as she began to move in a slow, deliberate circle around the periphery of the room, angling in on the voice.

"Aye.  Freya & Frey's Finders & Freelancers at yer service.  Whom might we be havin' the privilege to be addressin?"

Dejrik Garraksen

Dejrik takes a long, exhausted breath, hearing the lie being used by the party. He does nothing to contradict it, though he does begin to brace himself for the worst, his shield's grip clutched as tight as a climber's rope.

Yorp the Lantern-Bearer

Yorp keeps creeping forward, hopping from crate to crate, holding his lantern high...for the benefit of others. Pausing for a moment, he looks over at the big people, then gives the universal shrug. "Bargle not with us. I am Yorp the Kobold, I help guide these Finders."

Stoyan Barakovsen

Stoyan swaps his axe for his crossbow and carefully loads it, "You'd better come out where we can all see you. No weapons."
