For the purposes of this game, Ancestries get their racial languages as written. Figuring out why all Elves speak Elvish despite all geographic and historical sense is an exercise left to the reader.

On the geographic scale of most fantasy realms it actually isn't that implausible. A perfect real world example would be Spanish. The dialects are expansive but ultimately 90% of the Spanish speaking world can communicate with each other despite being geographically removed from the Spanish empire that originally spread their influence to the countries they became and this is after centuries.

Apply the same logic to a literal different species and it seems logical that even if they're around the world as long as an ethnic population is dominant in a region they'd likely retain the 'mother tongue'.

As a reminder, actions that significantly affect how your character sends or receives information are "Secret" - they are always rolled by the GM and you don't get to see the result.

Notable Secret actions include: Gather Information, Hide, Identify Magic, Lie, Recall Knowledge, Seek, Sense Motive, Sneak

We can settle it IC, but OOC we probably should settle on an 'operating language'. We all obviously have Common, but is there another language we ALL share?

Tethyr speaks Common, Elven, Granarctian, Taskan, Draconic, & Celestial

We're really close on Granarctian and Taskan. Only Eireann lacks those. Elven is next, with only Nova and Vega not speaking it.

Edit: forgot Ash. She kinda scuppers this plan regardless, since she's just got Ixrui and Common

(Worth noting with the more limited languages, only Nova has Aralean, Crastug is our only Goblin speaker, and Circe our only Fey speaker. And none of us have Harazi . *hums* They border Aralei. I need to check if my general outline for Nova's home region is okay; might make sense for her to pick it up if they don't have their own language)

Don't get too hung up on trying to cover all the regional human languages. Or, well, all the languages generally. I don't have any adventures planned in Retulia or Elme 'Haraz at this time (mostly because nobody is really from there) - we'll be working mostly in Granarctia, and occasionally Taskan and Aralei, for the time being.

@Inquisitor D it will make more sense for Nova's people to speak a regional variant of Aralean rather than adding another language to the mix. Your dialect will be part of what marks you as an outsider bumpkin noble when we do work in Aralei proper.
