A Romp in the Snow

The heroes are chasing what was an army of undead that are looking for some legendary item that will give a necromancer almost unprecedented abilities with it, the last post on the old site had the party come across a battle site with many undead.

The path (light grey) was the site of some fight, the tracks of the undead do continue but there are a lot fewer than originally.

Chrystal looks over the area and spots something unusual "come look at this guys, these large prints are very rare, Immoth. They were attacked by Immoth" she says, the uldra ranger had never seen one. She scans the area when a giant creature limps forward, it's right leg looks badly injured "little one. Are you hunting the undead" it said, "yes we are, can we aid you" she asked?

"If you can heal me then yes but otherwise no, I will be fine. Your quarry number only eight, the leader and some underlings. They head for the Frozen Priest on some caribou they took from travellers, you will need to make haste, head into Butchers Canyon as it is mostly down hill, you will have no issues there" it says.

The giant thanks Morgo for the healing, he explains that the Immoth are only a few and seldom get involved in other being's welfare. They dislike the undead due to their love of the natural order, the Immoth then wishes them luck and teleports away. The field has equipment that could be salvaged if anyone wants to search it, a detect Magic spell will pick out anything magical.

Seeing the great devastation this ice giant had wrought, Leofric felt a great curiosity about it. He'd never heard of an 'immoth' before. However, his wariness dampened his curiosity, and he decided to sit back and let others handle the direct interactions with him. Before him was a battlefield full of slain undead, and their equipment.

"Perhaps we should take a minute to scrounge about," he suggested, "They may have left something valuable here."

Moving around one or two items do show up with a magical aura, they are as follows

1. A Scimitar

2. A Greatsword

3. A Stick with arcane symbols (a wand of?)

4. A mummified hand on a golden chain (Hand of the Mage ?)

5. A pair of boots made from white fur

6. Five potions (Red x3 - Healing?, Blue - Magic Circle ?, Purple - Bulls Strength ?)

Crystal leads the party onwards through the desolate frozen landscape until on the 3rd day they finally reach their destination, The Frozen Priest. The party entered the chasm and began their search for the undead, as the sun began to set the temperature dropped quite quickly. The party made camp and they made a small fire with very little wood, enough to brew a hot drink before wrapping up to sleep. When the daylight came they made their last fire and brewed a hot beverage, when ready they pressed on.

 

Out of nowhere, a figure dressed in robes appeared, he had been frozen to death some time ago. Crystal declared footprints were heading into the wall of ice, investigating the wall steps into a building were found.

Leofric's eyes glow with a lavender light as he scours the battlefield for signs of magic. There are surprisingly many pieces of magical equipment left strewn amongst the rubble. After a few minutes, he's found a couple of weapons, a wand and some potions.

"These undead seem to have been quite well-equipped with magic items," he says, "I'm sure all of us could use some of these items. See this one?" He holds up what looks like a mummified hand. "I don't know for sure, but this looks like a hand of the mage. Let's see, shall we?" He points it at a broken sword hilt nearby and tries to lift it with magic. "Interesting." He sheepishly puts the new things away when Ms Sharondaerl advices haste. "Of course, we should move swiftly."

After some more travel, they arrive at a cave, with an unfortunately frozen man standing there. He warily studies the man for a moment before carefully slipping past. "Is this the place, then?" he asks the two elven women, "The trail has led us here? Are we all prepared for this showdown? We'll probably need to cut the vampire down, at which point he'll transform into a gaseous vapor. I think he'll still be visible in that form, and we can follow him to his place of respite, where we can thrust one of our wooden stakes into his heart.

"We were initially supposed to stop him from finding the Shadow Staff. I suppose, judging by what we've seen, this must be where the staff is, so I suspect we'll have to watch carefully for especially potent magic to be used against us. I'll want to locate the vampire quickly and target him with my best spells. Those of you with clerical magic, anticipate turning a horde of undead, if you can. Ladies, I think your arrows would be of great use in staving off those hordes of minions. I don't suppose there's a way to affix a wooden stake to one of your arrows and target the vampire's heart from afar?"

Morgo

spacer.pngGrabbing a shiny item that sparks his fancy and looks like something similar to his own, he follows along with the group.


 

As they approach the building, he looks at the others and gives his usual happy grin. "No worries. Morgo smash dem good! Morgo smash dem so dey not wanna get back up!" He declares as he pulls out the sharped giant hunk of metal he calls a sword.

The chamber is 45' x 70' and has several supporting pillars, at the far end is a statue of a female drow (Know Religion).

Entering the building, the party find the undead discussing one of the magic items that they have found, the leader-looking one, a vampire/spawn calls out to you "you are too late mortals, I have what I came for. You have chased us for nothing" he says to you, he mumbles something then teleports away. Facing you are now six of the undead that numbered over a hundred when this started, it looks like you face three vampire spawn and three ghouls.

Distracting Attack (Ranger): You do not gain an Animal Companion. Instead, beginning at 4th level, any enemy you attack and hit, be it ranged or melee, is considered Flanked for purposes of the next attack by any ally, but not longer than until your next turn.

Claustrophobia: You become shaken while in any space where you are within 10 feet of a wall or other solid surface on 2 or more sides, or if the ceiling is less than 10 feet above your head. (Such as while walking down a 20-foot-wide corridor or while you are in any room with a 10-foot-high ceiling.) Spells and effects that remove fear do not remove this condition.

Wild: Whenever you are entangled, pinned, or bound, you immediately become panicked. Your fear is alleviated 1 round after you are free of all bonds. Spells and effects that remove fear do not prevent this effect.
