Adrianna speaks to the woman in a sympathetic voice "I am sorry that we have put you through this but we are looking for answers and you were a little vague with the information you gave, I would like to ask though have you sought to exploit the situation by "picking up" items that have been left behind by the dead? I hate to use the term "looted", in this situation any one of us would do the same. With gnolls on the loose you cannot be expected to defend yourself if they have a whole town's worth of weapons and magical items" she said.

This note is written in common and appears scrawled quite neatly. It says; "On our way". Although you are a stranger to the snake on the table it does not seem bothered by your presence.


You stand in the hall

Still interested in open dialogue Kella continues to answer your questions. She remains neutral in the hallway with no indication that she has intentions of fighting the party. Her arms remain crossed while she leans up against the left side of the hallway.

"I did mention I came to assist the temple, I did not think you would need to know my full life story.. and no I haven't loot anything in the city aside from a few rations and maybe a bottle of alcohol to pass the time" Pausing for a moment she thinks of what else to share. "I don't see why my being a spellcaster is important, I am sure you have a few yourself."

While she does seem to be cooperating and answering their questions he still has the feeling she is hiding something of importance. Maybe she is just buying time till her friends arrive?

Gelfin looks around the room that Kella had been staying in, looking for anything that seemed out of the ordinary to him. He then focuses his attention back on Kella as Mark asks his questions. He follows up as well though he was not expecting a real answer verbally but he used an ability that was inate to him to be able to detect others thoughts hoping the question would cause them to actually think about it.

"Yes, is there something you are not telling?"

You stand in the hall

Feeling pressured, Kella remains silent for a short while. She spends the time contemplating what she can and cannot share with you without putting herself in further danger. Shifting her eyes away from the majority of you to face the wall she begins rubbing her arm with the opposite hand. During this time spent in contemplation Gelfin gleans some important information. Kella is a member of a larger faction but does not mention the name, she mentions the name 'Xolkin' twice who appears to be either a family member or lover, it is unclear. Xolkin is likely an associate of the same faction that Kella is in, and it seems you are unlikely to get more information from her due to her ties to this organization. She fears reprisal more than your immediate threat in the hallway.

Her silence ends with a simple but brief answer to Mar'che'chok; "I.. cannot answer that" and a follow up answer for Gelfin who has spied on her thoughts unbeknownst to her. "I have answered your questions, my motivations to be here are my own"

Gelfin narrows his eyes as he understood that she was part of some organization and that she was thinking of someone named Xolkin.

"So you do not work alone I see, someone named Xolkin yes? You work for some organization too, but I am guessing that is why can not talk, can you say if your reason for being here has nothing to do with the attack here? "

You stand in the hall

Kella appears speechless as she turns to face Gelfin. It's clear she is attempting to maintain her composure after the invasion of her thoughts. Though it is unclear if she is aware of what just transpired or if she believes that you cast some form of spell on her without her knowing. Without hesitation but with great nervousness in her voice she replies to Gelfin quite earnestly.

"I.. did not have anything to do with the attack on this town, my allies see it as an asset that would be better served under our discrete eyes"

Upset by the current circumstances and feeling more than overwhelmed by Gelfin's sudden gain in knowledge; kella sighs to vent her feelings. In this instant she seems to regain some semblance of her composure.

"At this point I just want to get out of here alive, everything has gone sideways"

Mark is impressed by Gelfin's ability to figure out what Kella is up to and drag the truth out of her. He is a bit confused on where Gelfin got that info, but not too concerned.

Maybe we stay here for night and wait for storm to pass? Then go to fort in morning? See if any alive there.

Gelfin studies her as she speaks, listening to her voice inflections, watching her eyes and body language to see if he can determine her sincerity. He wanted to believe her, but he was a pragmatist and understood that people lied for various reasons. It seemed whatever organization that she represented was a clandestine one, which in and of itself was not inherently good or bad but she would bear watching.

"So when shall your friend Xolkin be joining us? I would not want any accidents to happen from a surprise. Especially if you are being honest and have nothing to hide." he keeps his gaze trained upon her, and hopefuly if she did not understand how he came about his info she would be inclined to think it was an ability that was always on, and she could not lie to him. It was a trick that had been useful to him in the past.

Diplomacy check to see if he can get her to continue to be forthcoming. Bluff to see if she believes he could still discern her thoughts, and a sense Motive to see if he can catch if she is lying still.

Orcbolg continues to stay back in the hallway. "Didn't mean to phrase that in a hostile way. Just that you being a spellcaster explains how you survived when others didn't." In reply to Mark, "The longer any survivors are without assistance the higher chance of them not being survivors when we do find them. I'd like to at least approach the fort and look for anything obvious before we seek shelter."
