A Great Upheaval

With the bell silenced in the dead of night; the rain seems to fall more heavily than before. Your hearing readjusts to the silence as you press onward into the darkness - unknown threats lurking just beyond your vision.


 

Successfully sneaking across the tavern's main dining area, you stealthily peek through the available door. As you approach you can hear the sound of rustling, mumbling, and the occasional stuffing of a sack. Once the door is partially opened it becomes clear to you that two humanoid figures appear to be pilfering the room. A single candle has been lit on top of a counter nearby, enabling you to see that these figures carry the glint of metal; they carry weapons as well as armour.

The room is otherwise mundane in feature; it is a small kitchen with several cooking utensils adorning the walls. A small kiln designed for cooking appears to be in the corner of the room where the wall has been caved in partially. There is less space in the kitchen than the main hall; it is fifteen feet long and ten feet wide.

Gelfin

While maintaining your position in the main dining area you catch movement just above you. Something appears to be monitoring you through the hole in the ceiling on the second floor. Your eyes shift upward to catch a shadowy figure disappearing from view at the very last second, however you hear a clear sign of footsteps attempting to soften their step from above.

Time: Night, Darkvision.

Temperature: Chilly

Wind: Light, 2-5 mph

Canine ears perk up on either side of the figure's heads; they have heard you and you have lost any element of surprise. Standing, they draw their weapons and turn to face the door while yipping in an incomprehensible language. These creatures appear to be clad in breastplates size for medium humanoids, armed with longswords, and metallic shields. Mostly beast-like in nature they bare a toothy grin as they prepare for combat.

Gelfin groans as Mark yells out. All of their skulking around wasted with a single yell. Whoever was hiding upstairs would have to wait. "Remind me to have a talk with Mark around what it means to not draw attention to yourself." pulling his sword he moves forward to help his team. Eldritch energy flowing up his sword as he goes. If he gets in reach of the creatures he will attack.

The animal-like creatures approach the door to block entry, both taking position where they can strike toward the door. Concluding they are outnumbered it seems they intend to remain where numbers will mean little; at the ten foot entry of the kitchen.

Within reach of your ally both creatures strike at Mar'che'chok mercilessly. Only one of the Gnolls manage to pierce Mar'che'chok's armour, dealing significant damage to his torso.
