Mark glances back and forth between the big helmet guy and the pretty lady as they walk off in opposite directions. He shakes his head and decides to follow the pretty lady. Big helmet looks like he can handle whatever he finds. He cringes a bit at all the noise the big guy is making, but he follows the lady, ready to defend her if need be. He moves to the side of the room instead of going down the middle, glad to be out of the rain and wind. He sniffs for any scents he might pick up and keeps his eyes and ears open for sounds. Although the bell is making it hard to hear anything else. He really wishes that would stop.

Aravari lets out a big sigh as her companions split up. You're supposed to never split the party, she thought. The direction Orcbolg is going is probably more dangerous than the temple. I should go with them.

A Great Upheaval

Rain continues to splash across the landscape all around you and the sun finally sets beyond the horizon. You are left in the dark of night with a chill in your bones, a mystery to solve, and a noble to seek.


Adrianna & Mar'che'chok

After stepping into the temple you immediately feel relief from the storm; the soft scent of wood and sap permeates the air here. You take some time to search the grounds for a way upward and eventually find your way to the second room of the building where a small straw cot and several mundane items appear littered across the floor. The bed appears to have been ripped apart and blood is spattered across the ground in several places; something terrible happened here. Off in the corner of the room a ladder roughly thirty feet long appears to lead to a hatch in the ceiling; the bell is loudest here and is likely just above.

Aravari, Gelfin, & Orcbolg

The three of you tread away from the protection of the temple toward the unusual animal noises. It does not take long for you to traverse more than thirty feet; placing you nearly at the centre of the town square. Several boulders appear to have been embedded in the ground as you approach but none of you are able to discern where the sounds had previously come from. The ground is slick with rainwater and although you try to discern details in the darkness only Gelfin is able to truly see without torchlight. The rain hinders your ability to see further than thirty feet making it hard to tell what lurks beyond the edges of the plaza. After several moments of careful searching Gelfin's eyes detect movement to the east; it is too late, they have spotted you.

Roll Initiative

Aravari & Orcbolg lack darkvision and will be taken by surprise if Gelfin rolls lower than an 18.

 

Weather & Effects

Weather: Raining: -4 penalty on Spot, Search, Ranged Attacks, & Listen checks. Visibility is Halved.

Time: Night, Darkvision.

Temperature: Chilly

Wind: Light, 3-5 mph

Mark will set his naginata against the wall and make sure his nagamki (looks just like the naginata only a shorter handle) is loose on his back and ready to be pulled out and used if needed. He will then proceed up the ladder. He does not worry about stealth as there is no way anything is going to hear him over that bell.

Adrianna & Mar'che'chok

You advance up the ladder to open the hatch where the bell rings at its loudest; nearly deafening in volume. The rough texture of the wood creaks at your touch but releases easily, it does not take long for the both of you to acquire footing on the second floor. Ahead of you fifteen feet from the hatch is the figure of a hooded man who appears to mindlessly be ringing the bell; left then right, then left again. He pays you no mind and is likely unaware of your presence.

Aravari, Gelfin, & Orcbolg

Worgs spring from the darkness; first one and then another. They mindlessly burst forth nearly surprising all three of you - but your quick thinking ally alerts you with actions instead of words. As they close in to attack Gelfin is able to deal a single strike to the first Worg; its wound seems deep but it is not down yet. Worg 1 engages Gelfin in combat but the second Worg circles around to face Aravari.

Once up the ladder he pulls out his nagamaki and takes up stance beside Adrianna. He is ready to attack if the person turns out to be unfriendly. He is aware that even if the person is friendly, they might react badly to his appearance and hopes they spot the lady first. But boy he really hopes the guy will stop with the darn bells.
