Unfurling it in an angle and tilting her head to match. She squinted at it briefly, raised an eyebrow, curled a lip, then still staring into space, let the thing roll back up as she handed it to Lulani while wondering why the heck she'd taken the word stuff to begin with. Words were not her thing. She was also not the puzzling sort, Billie was the palm mash square pegs through round holes sort. "Dream stuff... not my bag, I don't even know what an Afropole is." After she was relieved of the boring word stuff, she called to Valyv with a whistle, and the goodest boy bounded over. Crouching down she gave his face and ears a two handed ruffle, that he seemed to revel in, then she jumped into a wide legged stance and he jumped back, front paws out and butt in the air and ready to play. He was supper excited, but when he realized that Billie was only teasing he barked at her rather loudly. "Later boy, here" She tossed him a ration, which he gobbled up, quickly forgetting the feigned playtime. It was time to be out of there and she was glad for it really, though it would be a decent spot to play fetch, if they weren't going to do that, then they may as well be off. It was a bit of an interesting walk, or float if you were Lula. What caught her attention most was the javelin throwers and long jumpers. She was sure she could beat them. Valyv totally misunderstood the activity and tore off, fetching a javelin and bringing it back to the thrower before they could measure the distance, but he was hard to stay mad at with his proud big dumb grin and waggling rear. The Akropoli sounded familiar for some reason, but she was only half listening and not realizing what Deypho was talking about. She wad much more interested in those games, but not in full armor... she wanted to win, and even she wasn't the best jumper while dressed in metal. "Vaaalyv!! Come!" The dog looked over his shoulder at her with a javelin in his mouth, wondering Billie was all shouty, but that was not for him to know, so he dropped the stick and bolted after her. Leaving no space for silence, Billie replied, gesturing off-handedly and rather rapidly to each of the company: "Dam, Dae, Maggy, Lu, B, so what? You have our names on some sort of list there Pho??" The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. The hand vanishes if it is ever more than 30 feet away from you or if you cast this spell again. You can use your action to control the hand. You can use the hand to manipulate an object, open an unlocked door or container, stow or retrieve an item from an open container, or pour the contents out of a vial. You can move the hand up to 30 feet each time you use it. The hand can't attack, activate magic items, or carry more than 10 pounds. | MessageTransmutation cantrip Casting Time: 1 action Range: 120 feet Components: V, S, M (a short piece of copper wire) Duration: 1 round You point your finger toward a creature within range and whisper a message. The target (and only the target) hears the message and can reply in a whisper that only you can hear. You can cast this spell through solid objects if you are familiar with the target and know it is beyond the barrier. Magical silence, 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood blocks the spell. The spell doesn't have to follow a straight line and can travel freely around corners or through openings. | Minor IllusionIllusion cantrip Casting Time: 1 action Range: 30 feet Components: S, M (a bit of fleece) Duration: 1 minute You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration. The illusion also ends if you dismiss it as an action or cast this spell again. If you create a sound, its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. It can be your voice, someone else's voice, a lion's roar, a beating of drums, or any other sound you choose. The sound continues unabated throughout the duration, or you can make discrete sounds at different times before the spell ends. If you create an image of an object—such as a chair, muddy footprints, or a small chest—it must be no larger than a 5-foot cube. The image can't create sound, light, smell, or any other sensory effect. Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it. If a creature uses its action to examine the sound or image, the creature can determine that it is an illusion with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. If a creature discerns the illusion for what it is, the illusion becomes faint to the creature. | PrestidigitationTransmutation cantrip Casting Time: 1 action Range: 10 feet Components: V, S Duration: Up to 1 hour This spell is a minor magical trick that novice spellcasters use for practice. You create one of the following magical effects within range: >You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor. >You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire. >You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot. >You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour. >You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour. >You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn. If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action. Spells Disguise Self1st-level illusion Casting Time: 1 action Range: Self Components: V, S Duration: 1 hour You make yourself—including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person—look different until the spell ends or until you use your action to dismiss it. You can seem 1 foot shorter or taller and can appear thin, fat, or in between. You can't change your body type, so you must adopt a form that has the same basic arrangement of limbs. Otherwise, the extent of the illusion is up to you. The changes wrought by this spell fail to hold up to physical inspection. For example, if you use this spell to add a hat to your outfit, objects pass through the hat, and anyone who touches it would feel nothing or would feel your head and hair. If you use this spell to appear thinner than you are, the hand of someone who reaches out to touch you would bump into you while it was seemingly still in midair. To discern that you are disguised, a creature can use its action to inspect your appearance and must succeed on an Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. | Find FamiliarCasting Time: 1 hour Range: 10 feet Components: V, S, M (10 gp worth of charcoal, incense, and herbs that must be consumed by fire in a brass brazier) Duration: Instantaneous You gain the service of a familiar, a spirit that takes an animal form you choose: bat, cat, crab, frog (toad), hawk, lizard, octopus, owl, poisonous snake, fish (quipper), rat, raven, sea horse, spider, or weasel. Appearing in an unoccupied space within range, the familiar has the statistics of the chosen form, though it is a celestial, fey, or fiend (your choice) instead of a beast. Additional animal form choices may be available at the DM's discretion. Your familiar acts independently of you, but it always obeys your commands. In combat, it rolls its own initiative and acts on its own turn. A familiar can't attack, but it can take other actions as normal. When the familiar drops to 0 hit points, it disappears, leaving behind no physical form. It reappears after you cast this spell again. As an action, you can temporarily dismiss the familiar to a pocket dimension. Alternatively, you can dismiss it forever. As an action while it is temporarily dismissed, you can cause it to reappear in any unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. Whenever the familiar drops to 0 hit points or disappears into the pocket dimension, it leaves behind in its space anything it was wearing or carrying. While your familiar is within 100 feet of you, you can communicate with it telepathically. Additionally, as an action, you can see through your familiar's eyes and hear what it hears until the start of your next turn, gaining the benefits of any special senses that the familiar has. During this time, you are deaf and blind with regard to your own senses. You can't have more than one familiar at a time. If you cast this spell while you already have a familiar, you instead cause it to adopt a new form. Choose one of the forms from the above list. Your familiar transforms into the chosen creature. Finally, when you cast a spell with a range of touch, your familiar can deliver the spell as if it had cast the spell. Your familiar must be within 100 feet of you, and it must use its reaction to deliver the spell when you cast it. If the spell requires an attack roll, you use your attack modifier for the roll. | Mage Armor1st-level abjuration Casting Time: 1 action Range: Touch Components: V, S, M (a piece of cured leather) Duration: 8 hours You touch a willing creature who isn't wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. The target's base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action. | Silvery Barbs1st-level enchantment Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when a creature you can see within 60 feet of yourself succeeds on an attack roll, an ability check, or a saving throw Range: 60 feet Components: V Duration: Instantaneous You magically distract the triggering creature and turn its momentary uncertainty into encouragement for another creature. The triggering creature must reroll the d20 and use the lower roll. You can then choose a different creature you can see within range (you can choose yourself). The chosen creature has advantage on the next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw it makes within 1 minute. A creature can be empowered by only one use of this spell at a time. Rituals Augury2nd-level divination (ritual) Casting Time: 1 minute Range: Self Components: V, S, M (specially marked sticks, bones, or similar tokens worth at least 25 gp) Duration: Instantaneous By casting gem-inlaid sticks, rolling dragon bones, laying out ornate cards, or employing some other divining tool, you receive an omen from an otherworldly entity about the results of a specific course of action that you plan to take within the next 30 minutes. The DM chooses from the following possible omens: >Weal, for good results >Woe, for bad results >Weal and woe, for both good and bad results >Nothing, for results that aren't especially good or bad The spell doesn't take into account any possible circumstances that might change the outcome, such as the casting of additional spells or the loss or gain of a companion. If you cast the spell two or more times before completing your next long rest, there is a cumulative 25 percent chance for each casting after the first that you get a random reading. The DM makes this roll in secret. She was stretched thin, trying to believe in something. From the back of the room, she continued speaking. "What... what are we doing here? Who are you and how do you know us? TheWordWeaver Posted March 31, 2023 Author Clone Share Posted March 31, 2023 The Serene Holds of Urzoa Chapter 1: Unrest in Baromenes Part 1: A Gathering of Wanderers 🎵 Theme 🎵 PART 1: A GATHERING OF WANDERERS A barrage of questions, the people before her seemed weary, and why wouldn't they be? She hoped to shed some insight into why she was here, why they were here. But even she had limited knowledge. "The Oracle also told me you lot would have a lot of questions." She said standing and walking to one of the nearby shelves. After rummaging for a while Deypho pulled a scroll out, examined it, and then rolled it out on the table. Once it was unfurled she weighed down the corners so as to not have it roll back up again. "I didn't read the parchment meant for you, was told not to. I was just told to hand it to the outsiders at the fountain." She said as she finished setting up the scroll. On the scroll was a painting. A depiction of a great battle between a shadowy figure wrapped in onyx chains that move from and about his body versus six heroes. Their battle dances across the parchment as if animated. The scroll shows the entire events of a war waged between the two groups until finally, the heroes manage to slay the shadowy figure and bring light to the realm. Under each hero, a name in gold glittered and shined, waving like banners in the wind. From left to right the names read as such: Dae, Mags, Damaia, Wilhelmina, Lulani... The last name was smudged and crossed out. "I've known your names for Five years," Deypho started. "Five years ago this scroll wrote itself in this very chamber. I watched it happen. Soon after I took it to the Oracle of Thespoe where she gave me more insight. Since then we've been trying to track you all down to make sure this prophecy... This fate comes true." Deypho looks at the last name on the scroll and sighs. "This one was named Serysh. He was the first we tried to find, it was a mistake, a mistake that got him killed. That scrubbed his name from the strings of Fate. I wasn't strong enough to save him. So instead of looking, we waited until the time when you would be united. Now." Deypho slammed her fist on the desk and sat in her chair behind it, wiping a tear from her eye, she tried to regain some kind of composure. "You must be very careful from now on, The Chained Ones, they will scour every inch of these lands to find you and kill you now that they know where you are and who you are." Deypho covered her face with her hands, using her palms to rub her eyes before looking at you all again. "I don't know when this happens, only that it does, and that you all are chosen." Deypho knew it was a lot to take in, but going in blind wasn't an option, the weariness perhaps they needed to unwind. "You're free to stay here as long as you like. If you are tired or hungry I would recommend the Pillar. It is an inn at the epicenter of the mall. Stores, food, rest. Just. Watch your backs." Deypho's words were a good start, but clearly the woman was holding back. The information she shared raised more questions than she'd answered. Mags knew much about prophecy and oracles--and Deypho's story just didn't ring true. He ran through a mental list of his questions before speaking, forcing a civil tone of reasoned inquiry "So... what insights did the Oracle of Thespoe share with you?" He held forward a hand, raising one finger. "If the scroll shows six heroes defeating the shadowy figure, but now we are only five, why do you believe the outcome of the battle depicted in the scroll remains a true prophecy?" Mags raised a second finger. "How did Serysh die?" A third finger joined the first two on his raised hand. "What makes you think the enemy knows where we are and who we are?" His pinky joined the other fingers. "And, after receiving a dire prophecy from the gods, did you really spend the last five years doing nothing to gather allies, resources, and knowledge to aid us as we face this superior enemy and coming war?" Mags extended the thumb of his raised hand. He had another handful of questions, but decided they could wait. The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. "You think of me as someone with status. And our enemies as someone who sits idly by. Do you see my name on this parchment? Do you see armies?" She said shaking her head. "I am just the messenger and the Oracle told me what she knew, what the gods were willing to pass through her. That a time would come when you would all come together to stop whatever this is." She finished gesturing to the scroll once more before holding a hand up. "And that I was to tell you what lies ahead. Believe me, I am not stoked to have this on my head either. But it is an honor nonetheless" "If it were not true the whole scroll would be wiped out, not just a name. Clearly, you all are special for reasons beyond mine or your understanding." She said holding up a second finger. "An ambush. I had set a meeting with him in a village nearby called Erenae. When I went to meet him the whole town had been destroyed. I found him, butchered. He was just a boy." She said putting up a third finger. "Isn't it obvious? They knew you'd be here, just as I did. You are marked." With that, she rose walked towards Mags, and snatched his arm. Flipping it over so his palm was facing the ceiling she did the same with hers. a brilliant yellow sigil glowed on both of their forearms. Mags is the symbol of a cat and Deypho's a bird. "We all are." She said releasing his arm. "Every step I take towards helping you the enemy takes two more, there are agents in this city who work for him. I have gathered what I can for your fight. Starting with this." She said as she moved back behind her desk and then crawled under it. A sound of pops and clicks rang from within the desk itself and then she appeared once more. She held a black cloth and laid it on the table. Grabbing the corner she threw the cloth off revealing what she had been hiding. "Do not touch it." She instructed. On the table sat a splinter of wrought metal about an inch in length, it was shattered and jagged on either end. It was the deepest black you have ever seen, darker than the night and it seemed to call to you. Almost willing, begging even for you to pick it up. To learn he was marked disturbed him deeply. But a cat? That was much better than a bird. If he was to be marked with the sign of an animal, a cat seemed very fitting. And somehow it pleased him. Silver linings. His worst fears realized, Mags slumped somewhat at the conclusion of Deypho answers. In the grand scheme, she was just as clueless as he was. Just another pawn in a game of gods. The God are an unfathomable lot, the Master used to say. We are but pawns in the games they play, insects in the webs they spin. Sometimes, it pained him to admit the Master was right. Stupid gods! The hand lasts for the duration or until you dismiss it as an action. It seemed like Lula was right, someone was already being rather possessive of the boy. Then there were stories, she did like stories, but this woman was no bard. So, she was rather content to let the boy take the lead on this one, he seemed alright at it, or at least somewhat interested. She would, have stopped her at "The Pillar" and been on her way, but then she would have missed out on this wonderful bit of excitement. "Oooo... all your effort into gathering what you could and this is what you came up with, a wiggly sliver? What the hell is it, oh Wait, I bet it's Xoros' pecker? Foretelling that we're all proper ****ed. I guess that settles which moon he made then doesn't it? The wee one." She gave Lulani a nudge with a laugh. "Please tell us how that's at all useful, because I'd really like to get a bite and a drink or eight. Dae and Mags, I owe you a meal for you letting Valyv take yours. Least I can do and I'm not taking no for an answer, I pay my debts, and my dog's. Speaking of..." Billie flipped her wrist looking for a sigil "What's this now?" Dae then turned her gaze back to Deypho. She wasn't sure she'd been given enough to stay. "Wait." One weary word. "You and this "Oracle"... are you the ones who have been giving me, giving us, nightmares? Is that the chosen method to ensure our arrival at the fountain on this day? I feel you will say... the oracle wanted to be sure. But... you didn't even try... a letter?" Even as she said it, Dae knew she may not have come if the missive had been less dire. fenrirlokison Posted March 31, 2023 Clone Share Posted March 31, 2023 Lulani Zenar'inan - Shadar Kai Hexblade Warlock of the Tome AC: 14 | HP: 21/22 | Initiative: +3 | Passive Perception: 13 The warlock looked at the signet ring on the dagger suspiciously for a moment, then let it drop onto a scrap of cloth, and puts it into her backpack. Lulani's eyebrows furrowed and her mouth pouted as her sister grabbed the scroll. She wanted to read it. Her sister was always so much faster then she was. Her face returned to the usual easy smile quickly though, she knew it was only a matter of time before her sister would give it to her. Billie never cared for words on paper. It didn't take long, a moment maybe and the scroll was being handed off. Lulani took it, but did not look at it right away. Lulani certainly didn't care to be rushed and cared less about having to actually follow on foot. For the most part she was able to ride on the floating disk, until they got to the room. She groaned, lowered the disk and dismissed it, then looked to her sister to help bring her stuff inside the room. Inside the room, she was distracted. "Oh~ Xoros? Mmmmm~" , she could barely contain her excitement. Lulani always looked and acted more lively in a place that promised magic and here she was in a temple dedicated to a saint of the god of magic! The walls were full of scrolls that held countless secrets and likely magic! Then she remembered she had on in her hand, she takes a moment to look at it. "When is the eclipse?" The warlock's eye brow quirked up with an amused smile, naturally they would have questions. In which she was rather pleased with the questions asked. The less she had to ask the better. One didn't have to be an oracle to foresee that. Lulani's blue-green eyes continued to dance as the art scroll was unfurled, "Oh look Billie, a battle!" She knew how much her sister loved that kind of thing and was partial to pictures. It was nice to share excitement together after all. Lulani rubbed at her eyes. Was she seeing things? No. There it was, clear as day, her name! and "Billie! That's you! That's your name!" , she pointed rather excitedly. The elf always knew they were bound for greatness, but to see it spread out like this in a painting! Lulani jumped as Deypho slammed her fist on the table. She looked at the woman, really looked at her for the first time. She decided the woman was either trustworthy or putting on a good act. How did they not find the rest of us? Mag seemed to think differently. Lulani cocked her head to the side seeing the sigil, We are all marked? Is she marked to be a messenger? "Do you know what the marks mean? Might we speak to the oracle?" Lulani licked her lips as she saw the shard, oh how it called to her! Billie nudged her and laughed, Lulani had barley heard what she said, but gave a chuckle anyway. She bites her lower lip, would it really be so bad... just to touch it? She remembered the chain? from the grey-skinned man and how it tried to get into her skin. Lulani shivers and forces her eyes away from the shard. She looks at Deypho for the answer to her sister's question. At the sight of the art her eyes went wide and a genuine smile spread across her face as she stared at it, tapping the page giddily. "This! This is amazing! Who did this? I'm taking it." She watched it over and over, looked over at the others, then at their depictions, checking for differences in their appearance. "Deypho? How long have you had this painting? You mentioned there were six, so did this change? Does it change often and does it take longer for us to win now that there are fewer of us?"
