Flaming DwarfIgni shivered as the creature seemed to pull the very life out of his body. Gritting his teeth against the chill he was unaccustomed to as a being closer to fire, Igni called summoned up a flare of light to dazzle the creature before him.

EDIT: please disregard the Turn Undead rolls. I forgot Igni doesn't actually have Turn Undead. He traded it for Smite Giants.

Instead he'll cast Flare on the one in front of him. Fort save DC12 negates. On a fail it's Dazzled for 1 minute.

Shizuka

spacer.pngShizuka moves forward slightly, focusing her intent on the undead creature. (Stance of Clarity officially set to whatever this is in front of us.) She then does her best to strike at the thing once in range. Her blade shimmers faintly as its shadow seems to swing just out of sync with the physical weapon. Alas, her weapon simply sails right through the incorporeal being.

Flaming DwarfThe narrow corridors and sharp turns were a problem for being able to attack the creatures so Igni created some space by teleporting behind the one before them. He then called upon his god to pour mercy down on the unfortunate soul and held out a hand with a glimmer of healing light to strike it.

The dark shape withers under the group’s attacks. While Snow’s fire breath passes through harmlessly, both Igni’s glowing touch and Mezzina’s magic missiles connect and do damage! The dark shape is destroyed!

 

There is a second dark shape nearby. So far, no one has interacted with it.

Flaming DwarfStill clutching his chest where the shadow creature's hand had passed straight through his armour and stolen the very life from him, Igni agreed with the decision to turn back. The group had fought hard, had survived traps and monsters and finally run up against an enemy they could not defeat, at least not in their present condition.

If Lord Rhynehurst continued to run his contest, perhaps they would be back to challenge it again. Igni certainly wasn't one to leave a challenge incomplete. He didn't know what lay ahead in the rest of the dungeon they had not reached, but he did know he respected this group as a party for their individual skills and lack of ego or infighting.

"That was a tough run but we made it as far as we did thanks to everyone pitching in and doing their part. Yer a good lot and I for one would be proud to fight alongside ye anytime!" he declared. "Who's for celebratory drinks back at the Tavern?" Igni enjoyed a good drink, but he had a rule to curb any excesses of alcohol. He only drank on days ending in 'Y'.

spacer.pngAfter deciding with the party that they could (presently) proceed no further, Shizuka walks with them back to the entrance. She turns over the magical cloak that was borrowed, takes her earnings and returns to the Realm-Folded Tavern with minimal fanfare. She has a grudge against this place. Should it open up again, she will likely return to finish what she started.
