If he searches the girl's floor, you don't see him. Finally getting to his room, he unpacks what little gear that he has: dopp kit and rolled up clothes. After putting his possessions into place, he lays down and takes a nap. Perhaps there would be further such contests and this was merely the first of them. If he happened to discover the Rod he would go for it in the spirit of participation and comradery with his fellow students but he didn't predict he would be losing much sleep over it. Jake helped himself to a burger from the cafeteria. He tried to chat with a few other students at random but in the interest of maintaining secrecy he didn't reveal his colour. After eating, if nothing unexpected happened, he wandered around the halls inside the building partially to see if he could stumble across the Rod but mostly to familiarize himself with the layout of the classrooms and prepare himself to get to his classes on time.
