Igni Firebeard

Fire Dwarf SmithIgni nodded as everyone introduced themselves and their capabilities. This was a good group and seemed to have a wide variety of skills and abilities. "Sounds like a few of us have some ability to heal, but crushing the enemy and patching up after is still the way to go," he remarked in answer to Mezzina's question.

The dwarf with the flaming head chuckled at the idea of needing protection from fire but still felt some comfort as Snow's magic settled over him. "Thanks little one, I'll try not to hit you with any stray flames as well."

While normally a taciturn cynic, Igni found the jaunty tune Brody was playing filled him with excitement and anticipation as he tapped his armoured boot in time to the music. This was not Igni's first dungeon crawl but he knew it would be a good one. They had to put on a good show for the crowd after all. He snorted at the idea of dungeon crawling as a spectator sport but the prizes were enticing.

He stumped into the corridor after Brody and Shizuka, checking his holy symbol and spell components were close to hand, donning his heavy helm and readying his hammer and shield. The dwarf was now a walking fortress. Time to see if anything in this dungeon could put his defenses to the test. "Time for the mayhem to begin. Let's see what Lord Rhynehurst has in store for us!"

A cheer goes up from the spectators as the new contestants proceed forward. If you concentrate, you can hear them discussing your fates through the glass above you.
 

“Oh, I like the snake woman’s chances. She looks like a fighter.”

“Ten gold says the minstrel gets killed first.”

“He at least -has- a sword. He’ll go farther than the cat.”

“I disagree. The cat -knows- it’s a cat. Minstrels all think they’re heroes.”

Once inside the dungeon he stops strumming his Mandolin and takes on a more serious demeanor. Though he grins as he hears some of the spectators. While he might look like a dandy he had a sting. Which was usually felt right after someone underestimated him. He moves forward as quietly as he could he senses focused to catch any sign that danger was ahead. He made his way to the first turn and slowly looked around to see what was around the corner.

Fire Dwarf SmithAs was common with most parties Igni was part of, he was definitely the slowest and the noisiest. Letting others scout the way was probably best as he would certainly blunder into any ambush which may be waiting.

In this case Brody had turned the corner and not been immediately attacked so Igni figured it was probably ok to join him at the front, just in case there was any fighting to be done. There was little point in wearing so much armour if he didn't at least try to put himself between his allies and any threats. He clanked forward a few steps before blinking out of sight and reappearing by the wall at the end of the corridor with a thud of armoured boots hitting the ground.

There wasn't much to see around the corner except two purple curtains covering the way forward and left and a sign which the fiery dwarf squinted at through his helmet's visor, trying to read what it said.

"Probably not a good idea to split the party from the get go," he remarked lightly to Brody. "Looks like we've got a decision to make. Straight or left?"

Igni tries, but the massive amount of armor he’s wearing pulls him downward into the pit. He floats downward slowly but inexorably toward the botom of the pit.

He lands safely at the bottom, and as the spell wears off, he hears a ‘click’.

A cheer goes up from the spectators as Igni triggers the pit, which quickly turns to grumbling as he gently drifts 40’ downward.
 

“What, a magic dwarf? Who’s heard of such a thing?”

“You for one. Or did you think he hadn’t noticed his beard was on fire?”


When Igni hits the bottom, he sets off a pressure plate at the bottom of the pit. This triggers two spear traps, which fire down the length of the hallway back toward the entrance.
