spacer.png"Luck be with you ladies. Round is open for bets." The croupier tosses a wink towards Keshka and brushes her hair back, just as a server comes to offer to bring the two of you drinks.

While of the other players decides to lay in his bets with T'Sarra on the Rider, the other cuts his losses at this table and move on.

"Bets down everyone." The croupier calls and after a moment's confirmation that nobody else was laying down any more last minute wagers, she grabs onto the edge of the wheel and pulls down with her entire body to spin it.

A clack-clack-clack sounds as dowels on the wheel strike against a flapper mounted at the top of the stand, eventually slowing the wheel down till it stops at the Newlyweds.

"Newlyweds again! Green wins once more." The croupier pays Keshka back her ante on the daughter plus two more before collecting the losing bets.

Cosmic Caravan Rules

Each player bets any amount on one or more of the segments of the wheel (minimum 1 silverdisk per space). The croupier then spins the wheel, which is slowed via the rubbing of the pins against the “arrow”, a mounted pointer made of flexible leather until the wheel comes to a stop.

Any player who has stakes on the segment stopping at the arrow wins double the payout indicated below, granted the segment is white, green, red or blue.

If a player has otherwise placed bets on the same colour as the winning segment, she is paid out as indicated. (White: 1 to 1, Green: 2 to 1, Red and Blue: 3 to 1, Brown: 7 to 1.)

If a player has placed bets on a red or blue segment, and the opposite colour is stopped at the arrow, that player is paid a consolation prize of half the amount of her bet.

If the wheel stops at the Follower (Black), all wagers are lost to the house.

After the winnings are paid out appropriately, all losing bets are collected before a new round begins.

If there wasn't enough eyes turned their way before, the beginning of a winning streak certainly seems to have caught a few people's attention now.

The other patron answers back, "Oh, I'm Absalomian. I have a great interest in these androids of yours. I gather you might know a few?"

spacer.png"Blackjack! Fast and furious, hit the gold on twenty-one!" The halfling hardly needed to advertise, as Vri was already determined to play in.

Having won the previous round, the other player places down five silverdisks as his ante before the shuffle, while Vri buys in with one.

Vri is dealt a Five of Iron, then a Four of Stone is dealt to the other player before the dealer's face down card.

The player is first dealt a King of Flesh, then the dealer a Five of Stone. Next, the player is dealt an Ace of Flesh, before the dealer's face down card. In the second round of cards, Vri gets a Jack of Iron, the other player an Eight of Flesh, and the dealer a Seven of Flesh.

"Fifteen. Hit, stand or double?" The halfling dealer prompts, waiting for Vri to make a decision.

Blackjack Rules

Each player puts down a bet (limit 50 silverdisks) to be dealt in. The dealer then shuffles the deck, and deals one clockwise round of cards face up to each player, then one face down card to himself. One more round of face up cards are then dealt around the table.

Aces are counted as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10. The player’s goal is to beat the dealer by getting a count closer to, but without going over 21.

If the dealer has an ace or a “10” card face up at this point, he looks at his face down card.

A hand with an ace and a “10” card is called Blackjack. If a player has a blackjack and the dealer does not, the player is immediately paid out 6 to 5.

If the dealer has blackjack, he collects the bets of all players without.

If both a player and the dealer have blackjack, the player’s bet is returned.

Clockwise beginning from the dealer’s left, each player resolves their hand by playing it out against the dealer. She may “stand” (ask not to be dealt any more cards) on her total, or “hit” (ask for another card) up until she goes “bust” (count totals over 21), in which case the player loses her wagered bets.

A player may split an initial pair into two separate hands by placing down an equal amount to the original bet for the second hand. These hands are then resolved separately. Additional pairs dealt when making up the split may be resplit again.

A player may also “double down” on their original bet, doubling their wagered amount. A player may double after a split.

No other side bets are permitted. A player may “fold” and surrender their wager at any time.

After every player on the table has been served, the dealer turns up their face down card. He then deals additional cards to himself until his total is 17 or more. The dealer may not fold, split or double, and must stand on a soft 17 (a hand that counts to either 7 or 17 due to having an ace).

Toward the direction of the stage, as the music of the previous song fades, a bit of a clamour is beginning to build as the lighting in the building dims a few shades. Everything seems pitch dark for a moment. "Ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome to the stage by round of applause, four of the most luscious and talented performers from the Marrymaid."

"I give you, and please bring them back when you're finished with them — Vera Sage, Felicia Felix, Sophiel Shade, and Ross!" As light suddenly returns to the venue, it is focused on the stage, where several scantily dressed women are seated in provocative postures.

For what seems like a lifetime captured in a moment, the four women are motionless. But then suddenly a single soprano voice rings out from their direction, clear and melodious.

"It's a cold and crazy world
that's raging outside /
Well, baby, me and all my girls
are bringing on the fire /
Show a little leg,
got to shimmy your chest /
It's a life, it's a style, it's a need…
it's burlesque…"

With a rhythmic snap of her fingers, the tiefling launches into their first number, leading her troupe in seductive song and dance.

Keshka

KeshkaPortrait.png.c5a8b8226b763306509344da12ab2897.png

Keshka smiled back at the croupier quickly before looking at her bets. "Desna's Teeth" She swore under her breath at the twisted luck. Winnings was nice but the attention was less so. But to suddenly switch up while on hot streak would look stranger still. "T'Sarra you better not leave, I think you might be a good luck charm!" She repeated the same action as before, sliding one silverdisk into her pocket while putting the other two back on the Daughter and the Wagon.

Her bets placed she spoke to the man again. "Absalomian? You're a ways from home. Bad time to visit Torch. As for androids, operative term being knew. She frequented this hall for a while but haven't seen her in years now. I travel a lot for work, not much chance to make friends in town."

She stopped speaking as the lights dimmed, her vision shifting to monochrome. Her hands covered her belt pouch and pockets as it did, this would be the ideal time for someone looking to lighten patrons of some coin to strike. The performance wasn't... bad. But it was the wrong type of distracting, one that left her feeling awkward and out of place in the crowd.

15 was a difficult number. Too low to actually win something with, but too high to ask for a card without impunity.

"Hit," she asked for another card.

Barhuce

spacer.pngBarhuce finally recovers his wits from the, well, quite attractive bouncers blatant leering and realizes he's just been standing there next to T'sarra and Keshka? Kieshka? Quiche? Keshy... definitely Keshy. He quickly drops a token on thrush. before getting distracted by the performance.

T'Sarra jumped in joy for Keshka but noticed her own supply of chips dwindling.

"Lucky for you maybe! I'm losing faster than you're winning! Hey, can you change a red for five silver?" she asked the dealer.

"Hey Barhuce, stick close, Keshka says I'm good luck. Just not for me."

She barely noticed the performance, though still glanced back at the bouncer. Just to see if she was looking. Right? Then, frustrated at her luck, and assuming she could get her change, put two on Stargazer and two on Thrush.

Torch — Silverdisk Hall

spacer.pngWith a silent nod, the blackjack dealer turns over a new card for Vri, revealing it to be a Two of Clay.

"Seventeen." The halfling nods, waiting for the half-elf to continue making decisions on her hand, without repeating the same options still available to her.

As though right on time, the server returns to bring Vri her glass of elven wine.

Aces are counted as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10. The player’s goal is to beat the dealer by getting a count closer to, but without going over 21.

After every player on the table has been served, the dealer turns up their face down card. He then deals additional cards to himself until his total is 17 or more. The dealer may not fold, split or double, and must stand on a soft 17 (a hand that counts to either 7 or 17 due to having an ace).

spacer.png"New round for everyone. Let's see who the caravan favours." The buxom blonde waves her hand across the table, indicating that new bets are welcome.

"Oh of course! I can change you out for that." She responds merrily to T'Sarra, and gives her accurate change for her red token while others begin to place their wagers on the table.

"Well hopefully I will be so lucky to meet a few, I'm quite eager to examine some specimens of such a fascinating species. Anyway, good luck." With that, the conversive patron decides it's time to move on as well, flocking with some others to get closer to the afternoon's entertainment, leaving the table effectively to your trio.

[[ First Burlesque Song ]]

At once the stage is alive with light and sound and movement, the subtle winks and kisses of the girls arousing the audience, their silhouettes accented with the smooth movement of light spilling forth from behind them, the sound of the tiefling's bold voice hitting some mezzo-contralto notes complimented by a raunchy sound of a trombone and and a ba-da-bam rhythm of drums.

And perfectly on cue to the music, the entire ensemble of dancers burst into action, moving through an acrobatic performance of provocative movements and poses on and around their chairs as they all join in on the chant.

"E-...X-...P-R-E-S-S /
Love, sex, ladies, no regrets /
E-...X-...P-R-E-S-S /
Love, sex, ladies, no regrets"

With a flash between one's legs, a push of a round bottom toward the front of the stage on top of a variety of salacious dance moves from her troupe, the lead singer continues again, her soprano voice ringing through the space of the game floor loud and clear as she stands and hikes a knee up to put one heeled foot onto the seat of her chair.

"Been holding back for quite some time /
And finally the moment's right /
I love to make the people stare /
They know I got that certain savoir-faire!"

As she continues her verse, the tiefling's hands caresses the various curves of her body, leaving very little to the imagination.

T'Sarra was getting frustrated now that she was down to two discs.

"Well, I think my power as good luck charm for you is about as good as it is for me now. I'm going to find something with a more certain payour. Keep your eyes open and good luck to you all!"

She excused herself from the gaming table, gave Vri a little pat on the shoulder on her way past and made her way to the bar (which I think is where I moved her). She sat up and put on a sad face and tale of woe.

"What you got for a loser down to her last two silver discs? I'm having a rough night, water it down a little less than usual, if you don't mind please?"

She smiled at the bartender and shrugged.

Another difficult decision, but now the odds were even less in her favour than before.

"That's it for me," she said with a wave of her hand. She had a look at the dancers while the other person played, but she kept a look at the game to see if there was any strange business going on.

Keshka

KeshkaPortrait.png.c5a8b8226b763306509344da12ab2897.png

"It appears both luck and my companions have abandoned me." Keshka gave a rueful smile and shrugged. "One more for me, and if I win I'll share." She put disks down on the Daughter and the Wagon again.

"So, have things changed at all since the flame stopped? Business I mean." She was honestly just trying to get a sense of the town. It was bad enough being away for a long period of time, but having been here but unaware of everything happened frustrated her more. That so much had happened and she had just been... out. Her gaze drifted over to the dancers again and she sighed, raking her hand through her hair. This was supposed to be a fun night, but she was struggling to relax and enjoy it. Maybe Val had been on the right track, a drink couldn't hurt.

First a Four of Flesh, but the other player was just not satisfied enough with sixteen points, and asked to be dealt again. Bad idea, as the fourth card was a King of Iron. Bust.

"Player busts." The dealer announced, and after a pause she flipped over her face down card. Queen of flesh.

"Dealer has seventeen. The lady has a push." With that, the halfling collects the player's lost bet, leaving Vri's ante untouched before she begins shuffling for a new round.

The dealer may not fold, split or double, and must stand on a soft 17 (a hand that counts to either 7 or 17 due to having an ace).

spacer.png"Well perhaps Lady Luck hasn't abandoned you yet. You never know." The blonde says to Keshka, then throws another patron a wink as he comes to join in on the new betting round, merrily chucking a silverdisk onto the Stargazer section.

"Bets down." The croupier gives the pair at the table a moment, before grabbing onto the edge of the wheel and pulls down with her entire body to spin it.

A clack-clack-clack sounds as dowels on the wheel strike against a flapper mounted at the top of the stand, eventually slowing the wheel down till it stops at the Newlyweds.

"Newlyweds again! Green wins." The croupier says as she collects the lost wagers.

After the winnings are paid out appropriately, all losing bets are collected before a new round begins.

spacer.png"Quest the harrow for fame and fortune!" The dealer at the next table announces, trying to promote her game. Barhuce comes to join one other player, who looks to be at the beginning of their round, placing down a silverdisk for his ante.

The player is dealt two cards, the Big Sky (Str, CG), and the Theatre (Cha, NG). Feeling emboldened that he might have a spread, the player places down four more silverdisks to raise his stake.

Then, the reserved but cute redhead deals the player one more card, the Teamster (Con, N), breaking his spread.

"So close!" He exclaims, even though the odds were likely against him in this instance.

Player Hand

spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png
spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

Without a word, the dealer collects the lost wager, and begins shuffling the deck, reamalgamating the dealt cards with the rest.

Fortuna Rules

Each player antes 1 silverdisk as a minimum bet on the table to be dealt in. The dealer then shuffles the deck and deals each player two cards face up, at which point the player has the opportunity to stay, raise their bet (up to a maximum of 50 silverdisk), or fold.

After all bets have been laid, the dealer then deals each player their final face up card.

Pairs with matching alignment are paid out even money (1 to 1), Spreads (three cards forming a straight line along one alignment axis, such as LG, NG, CG) pay out 2 to 1, Choosing (all cards belonging to the same ability suit) at 3 to 1, Atonement (three cards forming a diagonal line across the alignment grid) pays out 4 to 1, Crusade (3 of a kind in the same alignment) 6 to 1, and Chosen Spread (spreads with the same ability suit) pays 8 to 1.

After winning bets are paid and losing wagers are collected, a new round begins.

At the bar, T'Sarra is greeted with a warm smile by the bartender even as she is pouring a drink for someone else. After serving her current customer, she comes to the tiefling and says, "Hey ain't you one of them guys the boss was talking about that you're saving the town? Pretty sure he said your first round is on the house."

"Listen, you can have whatever you want, and it ain't gonna cost you a thing." She says, giving a cute shrug of her shoulder and a tip of her head toward her stock behind the bar. "And I wouldn't be so hard on myself just yet if I were you. You got two silverdisks to rub together? I'll bet my last copper on it you can still change the world with that."

[[ First Burlesque Song ]]

On cue, each of the dancers on stage turn to the side, bending over their respective chairs as they wiggle their rears, their voices once more joining in as the cadence picks up and this part of the song becomes a bit of a cutesy jig.

"Fasten up, can you imagine what would happen /
If I let you close enough to touch?
Step into the fantasy, you'll never wanna leave /
Baby, that's guaranteed (why?)"

Once again, the lead performer belts out with her soprano voice, taking a scissors gait as she struts forward one step after another, her legs crossing as she mocks a stomping motion to strike her heels on the stage floor.

"It's a passion and emotion /
It's a fashion, burlesque!
It'll move you, going through you /
So do what I do, burlesque!"

And just like this, the flirtatious song and dance continues for a near total of four minutes, the girls switching their routine with every verse, keeping their audience's eyes glued to the stage with every step, every move of their hip, all the way down to each tiny little twirl of a fingertip by the time the song finally winds down with a fading refrain of "Burlesque..."

"That's a bummer," Vri said to her fellow player as she puts down a second silverdisk and waits for new cards to be dealt. She's going to play it safe, or as safe as can be expected in a gambling den.

OOC

I'm going to put a bet of 2 silverdisks for now.

Keshka

"You really want me to stay here don't you?" Keshka slid one of the silverdisks over to the croupier before gathering her remaining disks. She needed to relax, something that had never come easily to her. Maybe T'Sarra had the right idea.

Keshka made her way over to the bar, sliding in next to T'Sarra. "I'll have whatever she is getting."

T'Sarra smiled at the cute bartender with the pink hair.

"Like I told your boss, we ain't saved nothing yet. But if it means the drinks are free, sure why not, that's us. And if the boss is buying then wine. Most expensive one you have. Or at least the most expensive one he'll pay for."

She raised an eyebrow and laughed.

"He's already got eight silver disks from me. I figure that's gotta open up the cabinet to the good stuff, right?" She rubbed her two silverdiscs together then spun one on the bar top.

"Maybe so. Just going to take a bit of a breather before I get back in the ring, you know? Oh hey, Keshka. It's ok, she's with us. Garmen would be happy to buy her a drink too, I'm sure."

She waited until Keshka took a sip of her wine before adding, "Now you gotta come underground with us tomorrow. You don't like it, take it up with Ulreth. You drank his liquor, now you gotta be his hero. I don't make the rules. Seriously though Keshka, we need you, Val needs you, Torch you. OK maybe forget the Val part," she laughed remembering Val throwing up on Keshka not too long ago.
