   Dawning of the Age of Worms

   The Game
   This campaign is based on the Age of Worms Adventure Paths, and will be using the Pathfinder system. Originally designed for the World of Greyhawk (or some close approximation thereof), the game has been rewritten for a homebrewed campaign world loosely based on the Forgotten Realms. All details necessary to navigate the campaign world (and these are limited to locations and a couple of custom gods) will be found in the background section of the game boards.

   Character Requirements
   I'm looking for 1 replacement player for the game. We're using a 25-point buy. Replacement character will start at 2nd level, with the AP designed to get up to level 20, if the game were to run long enough. I'm fairly flexible with character race and class with two conditions. First, the game world is not very diverse; humans are over 80% of the population and non-human races can be rare and treated with a hefty amount of bigotry. Dwarves, elves, halflings, half-elves, and gnomes are common enough and are generally tolerated. Other races may not be. Second, as this is an epic adventure path, characters must be "heroic." This doesn't mean that they can't be flawed, mean, or boorish. But assassins and clerics of evil gods aren't going to work here. No evil characters will be accepted into the game.

   Player Requirements
   I find combat on MW tedious and have been in games where a single combat can take weeks to resolve. This is exasperating to me, especially when the combat does little to advance the actual story of the game. In the interest of pace, I'm looking for folks who can commit to posting regularly (at least 3 times per week, on average) and for folks that are more interested in the story (which is very cool) than rules lawyering and mechanics.

   Tales of Ivalis

   This is a D&D 5e game though I may incorporate Amazing Adventures 5e from Troll Lord Games as well.
   
   The setting for this game is in and around the port city of Anchorhead, in a homebrew setting roughly parallel to Europe around 1400 CE.  The city is on the northern coast of the continent Ivalis, and the region is the Grand Duchy of Sauscony, though Anchorhead is an independent city and a member of the Mercantile League.  Characters that do not share a “European” cultural analog or flavor will be rare, though not unheard of.
   
   Anchorhead sits on a rock island at the mouth of a river.  The river flows North on either side of the city and into the bay, which curves gently to the North on the East and West banks of the river.  There are towers on the Northeast and Northwest tips of the bay for defense and they also have lights for navigation.
   
   On the island is the Old Town with a few docks, and the usual city buildings plus the Citadel; on both banks of the river around the Old City is the new city, poorly organized new construction including two larger dock areas: the East Docks are commercial and are surrounded by warehouses and other businesses; the West Docks are part of a shipyard with lumber mills and other craftsmen surrounding.  Timber comes down the river from a forest a few days ride to the Southeast. 
   
   The city is governed by a council of guild masters.  The Guild Guard provides policing and the Black Legion provides defense from external threats.  The Legion is headquartered in the Citadel, a castle on the Southern-most tip of the rock island, facing inland.  This is a world in which the civilized lands are ordered, society functions, and wanton violence or lawlessness is not tolerated.
   
   I am hoping for a fast-paced game, please look at the expectations post as well.  Character creation will be limited to conform with the European flavor.

   Unto Achilus

   +LIFE IS THE EMPEROR'S CURRENCY, SPEND IT WELL+

   In the far future of the galaxy, an anomalous artifact has been discovered, a relic from an ancient race that predates perhaps even the Eldar. This "Warp Gate" is located in the northwest of Segmentum Obscurus, between the Calixis Sector and the Koronus Expanse. Its exit--the Jericho Reach, a region of space in the extreme southeast of the galaxy. With near-instantaneous travel possible between the two regions, the securing of the Jericho Reach has become a top priority of the High Lords of Terra. Thus was launched the Achilus Crusade, a triumphant attempt to retake the entire region for the Imperium and the God Emperor.

    

   However, the Reach has been lost to all but the most stalwart defenders for eons. Apart from the watch-stations of the Deathwatch, who act only at their own discretion, the entire sector has been claimed by aliens, heretics, and nightmares beyond comprehension. The Achilus Crusade quickly became a costly and violent struggle, costing uncountable lives and irreplaceable amounts of materiel.

    

   The enigmatic Tau have declared many of the worlds to the south of the Reach to be part of their expanding Empire, and though negotiations are ongoing, peace has yet to be declared. Stealth, firepower, mobility; the Imperium is disadvantaged on every front but numbers. Facing the scorching might of their arcane technologies, the Canis Salient remains a protracted siege, every step forward paid for by a bloodbath.

    

   The Hadex Anomaly, a warp phenomenon in the center of the region casts its baleful light across numerous worlds. The Legions of Chaos see this new Imperial attempt at expansion as simply one more front in the Long War, and they rise to meet it head on. Cults are seeded to undermine loyal defenders, eldritch rituals are performed to gain the Warp's favor, and nightmares rip their way into reality. Though the Imperial warriors of the Acheros Salient remain determined, any mortal may be corrupted by the power of the Dark Gods.

    

   The most intractable threat to the Achilus Crusade is perhaps neither of these, however. From beyond the galaxy come the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Dagon, emerging to devour the entirety of the Reach and all life within it. The Orpheus Salient meets this danger head on, but these vile xenos continue to adapt to mankind's ability to counter their threats, and they have seeded insidious infiltrators across the Reach. What is there to be done when once-loyal citizens suddenly reveal themselves to be allies of these alien invaders, heralding their arrival and the doom of their world?

    

   As if these dangers were not enough, the chaos and destruction has drawn the attention of multiple xenos races. The Dark Eldar raid and pillage, nimbly avoiding Imperial interception while seizing slaves from under-defended settlements. The Orks of the region have yet to organize themselves into a proper WAAAGH!, but even scattered and feral, they pose an eternal problem that saps men and supplies away from where they are needed most.

    

   As the conflict drags on, the Imperium draws more and more resources, pulling regiments from numerous worlds in order to shore up their defenses and ready for deeper assaults into enemy territory. You are an mere man, one amongst billions. You are a soldier of the Imperium, chosen to fight against monsters and demons. You are an Imperial Guardsman, and you will hold the line.

   Are you ready for an adventure shaping the future of a tabletop game? I will run the playtest module, with characters built by you.
   Your feedback will be sent to the developers of the game.

   What I'm Looking For:
   players of all backgrounds and experience levels, ready to dive into the heart of darkness and emerge as heroes.    In short

   A grounded but not grim adventure in a fictionalized version of the Old West. The Old West is a land of brigands, outlaws, grifters, entrepreneurs, prospectors, homesteaders, and more - in other words, the folks who through blood and sweat forged Civilization and all that the capital letter entails from the essence primordial.

   The strings of fate that bind the wanderers of this world have drawn tight. Perhaps a few of you met in a crowded stage crossing the dusty plains, exhaustion and terror of bandits crowding every step of your journey in equal measure. Perhaps it was in the saloon or later in the "drunk tank" in the sheriffs office, or perhaps something different still. But there is work to be done, and you are men and women to do it.

   Posting expectations

   Three IC posts a week. I don't expect poetry or essays, but I do expect you to match that posting rate. It is more often than you think - if I post on Tuesday, you pretty have to either post same day or Wednesday.

   I may post more often but I will not hold you to a higher rate - I said I expect three posts a week, I will not start demanding 5+ posts.

   Life happens. I don't need to know specifics and honestly would rather you not pour your heart out in an OOC thread, so if you are busy or preoccupied just say so and I will respect that. I may ask you to take a hiatus from the game depending on how long you are out of action, and the game will keep moving if others are still active, but life comes before game.

   IC posts should push the story forward, either by doing something ("I knock on the door of the haberdashery and ask for the proprietor") or by proposing a course of action for the party. Don't stand there passively in the scene thinking to yourself.

   Don't overwhelm me with an ornate posting template. A character image (no anime or fantastical images please) is about the limit to things beyond the basic text of a post that I want. I will also ask for dice rolls unless what is needed is blantantly obvious (e.g. in combat).

    

    

   Setting the stage

   Each of you has arrived in the dusty and backwater town of Arcadia recently, no more than a month ago. Last night, a man, beaten and bloodied to within an inch of his life, scorched by a long day's and chilled by a longer night's ride on a bareback mare (or so the rumor put it, and indeed on what besides rumors is the Old West built on?) arrived in Flenderson's ranch, raving nonsense, and Flenderson the younger duly deposited him in the care of Dr. Archibald Pendrick, the local sawbones. Curiosity has gotten the better of you, and you have sought out rumor or maybe the man himself. Something is not right, but there can be profit in wrongness and in ridding the world of it.

    

   Some inspirations in film and literature

   I especially enjoy spaghetti Westerns such as the Dollars Trilogy, Once Upon a Time in the West, Il Grande Silencio, and The Magnificent Seven (itself plagiarized from Seven Samurai) and other classic Westerns such as The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance , High Noon , Gunfight at the OK Corral and yes Blazing Saddles.

   The "modern" genre is also one I find interesting such as Hell or High Water, True Grit, Quigley Down Under, Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and Tombstone.

   In other mediums, I am also enamored of Cormac McCarthy's work, in particular Blood Meridian and No Country For Old Men (also an outstanding movie) in print and the Red Dead Redemption games.

   You don't need to have watched or read many or really even any of these works but hopefully this will provide some context regarding where I am coming from in running this game. The conflict between man and wilderness, the allure of opportunity on the open plains, and the balance between "savagery" and "civilization" are what make the genre interesting for me.

   I am looking for 4-5 players. If you have run a game for me on here in the past (you know who you are, I'm not going to tag everyone har), I will give preference to you but I doubt this will be overly selective.

   Soft deadline is 9/12 and I will start doing rolling acceptance on that date. I will not close up applications earlier than that (out of fairness) but may extend the deadline depending on how things stand

   The System

   Let's give GURPS Lite (4th edition) a shot here. I want a relatively lightweight system with the traditional gameplay loop of "player makes action, GM asks for roll if appropriate, then after the roll GM describes the outcome of the action."

   Why not GURPS with x plugin/module? A first simple reason is money - it's hard to make an argument to throw cash at a system when the sad reality is that most PBP games have a short life. I hope this one will last until completion, but it's a more than fair concern. A second reason is that I want the focus to be on the story/conflict more than the raw crunch of the game. As this is PBP and PBP tends to be sluggish by nature, I want to move as quickly as possible through scenes while still doing tension, character stuff, etc. and simpler systems lend well to that. The emphasis should be on executing a character vision - are you a smooth-talking cowpoke dripping with bravado? A young woman looking for the freedom of the frontier? A prospecter looking for a good strike of gold to put old debts and poverty behind? and I think that's what GURPS does well anyways.

    "Even with the cobblestones of Argent Avenue and the foliage of Aria Park still wet from the morning’s light rain, dozens of Kintargans have gathered along the facade of the opera house to protest the city’s new lord-mayor, Paracount Barzillai Thrune. The city’s new leader was appointed by Her Infernal Majestrix, Queen Abrogail II, in the wake of the previous lord-mayor’s sudden flight from the city - an event that still has local rumormongers whispering furiously. In a scant seven days, Paracount Thrune has instituted martial law, a curfew, and seven outlandish and polarizing proclamations. These actions and more have called many of Kintargo’s dissatisfied citizens here on
    this overcast morn. There’s been no sign yet of Barzillai Thrune himself, and the opera house’s doors remain tightly closed—as they have since the man chose the landmark as his new home—but judging by the growing sound of the protesters, he surely can’t ignore the scene on the streets below much longer".

    Hell's Rebels is an adventure path about resistance and revolution. The PCs turn up at a protest, things turn violent, they make a new friend, and from there on.... the real game can begin.

    Welcome to Call of the Eclipse! Thanks for checking it out.

    This will be a Pathfinder 2e game with an Abomination Vaults structure, as you will venture into the legendary Castle Dracula to find the path to it's master and investigate the disappearance of Julius Belmont, who went in to slay the Dark Lord but has been missing for weeks. After such expeditions they will need to return to the military camp surrounding the castle to recover, resupply, and give what information they have found to the leaders.

    The base camp surrounding the castle is not without it's in own concerns. Many people of many origins are crossing paths and while many wish to see the end of Dracula not all seem to agree about how this should be done. You may need to make choices that affect not only yourselves but the whole war.

    The Skies Between

    Join the Ground Patrol they said. Have wonderful adventures protecting the skies between they said. See the realm and be treated as an honored member of society they said. At least the claims of free bunking and food was accurate, but the rest.. not so.
    
    Welcome to the Ground Patrol, the 'premier' fighting force of the Skies Between, responsible for ensuring the 'uncivilized' races stay below the lower crust and to protect the realm against the incursions of the Dragons. Or that is what was the recruiters call, and perhaps in some posts that would be accurate. After the year and a half of basic training learning what the majority of a patrol would actually entail, policing minor disputes, checking for contraband, busting illegal immigration from the skies below and looking for pirates, the job feels less glamorous than presented.
    
    Not that everyone had a choice in enlisting, many cadets were 'volunteers' from all walks of life. The starry eyed, the forced, the ambitious all flocked to the cadet training as a way to escape or better their current situations. There even were some of the sun-kissed present, but most of them had an abridged training.
    
    Graduation finished and the grueling task complete you received a short shore-leave to take care of your affairs before meeting with your assigned patrol group for your first official patrol as probationary Ground Patrol members.

    The Threat:

    The vampiric menace, a looming and enigmatic danger, presents a complex challenge. With ancient origins and insidious intentions, these creatures of the night are more than mere folklore. They are sophisticated, powerful, and terrifyingly real. As agents delve deeper into their investigations, they will unravel a web of intrigue that spans across history and geography.

     

    Gameplay:

    The journey begins with an investigation into a mysterious blood bank operation in Camden, New Jersey. What appears as a routine assignment quickly spirals into a labyrinthine plot filled with danger and dark revelations. Agents will engage in a delicate dance of investigation, combat, and diplomacy in a world where allegiances are uncertain, and moral clarity is scarce.

    Players will navigate through a narrative-rich experience, emphasizing character development, storytelling, and cinematic action.     This is a GURPS game using the Infinite Worlds setting. However you will not be working for any of the established organizations, but rather a ruined world that is searching for a new home to call their own.     After centuries of development Earth is a bustling world full of grand cities and carefully maintained parks. Gleaming arcologies rise a mile into the sky and their basements burrow deep into the ground. Carefully managed aquafarms provide food for the teeming billions, and robotic factories provide for all their material needs. All this is powered by solar power beamed from space and massive fusion plants on the ground. Corporations have grown larger and stronger, but they have not supplanted national governments. Those governments in turn still squabble among themselves for power and prestige, but a global war has been avoided for a century. And overall life is good for the majority of the world's citizens. That is until disaster strikes. Over a period of some years the moon begins to slowly shake itself apart. Scientists were at a loss to discover the cause, but the results are easy to discern as an increasing number of lunar fragments begin impacting the Earth. Under intermittent bombardment the underground systems of foundations and utility tunnels were strengthened and improved to house as many survivors as possible. Huge quantities of food and supplies were stored, but without the global aqua farms there was simply not enough for even that fraction of the population that managed to squeeze in. The underground enclaves were wracked by infighting, starvation, and strained life support equipment as the lunar bombardment reached its peak. Years later the surface and is a cratered ruin and the few surviving enclaves maintain a tenuous existence in their deep shelters. The remaining information networks of the old world link them to each other intermittently, but physical travel is nearly impossible. The world is ruined and things look bleak, but one ray of hope remains. Shortly before the lunar catastrophe leading physicists had discovered the math proving the existence of countless parallel dimensions, and experimental quantum portals had been opened to them. Now the survivors have managed to scale up that technology. Their most hardened survivors have been given the best remaining equipment and are ready to be sent out. Their mission is to find an inhabitable world and new home for humanity.

    Crisis of Infinite Turkeys

    Background

    It seemed like any other year.

    Things were usually quiet in Civic City in November. The rogue biological experiments of summer have settled down, the ghouls of Halloween have been put to rest, and the frost-themed villains were still plotting in their icy lairs. The heroes of the city had time to relax, with only a bank robbery or two to liven things up.

    But the quiet won't last this year.

    About the game

    This is intended to be a light-hearted, silly game. I'm going for a silver-age feel, so characters like early Justice League / Superfriends are welcome. Squirrel Girl and her cronies are exactly right. Punisher, Deadpool, Cable, and friends are right out, but the X-Men archetypes are fine. Early Batman is great, Dark Knight is too edgy. Outright comical characters are OK, within reason. The Tick and friends are good. Mystery Men too, just not the Spleen. Slime-powers, sure, chocolate-pudding-powers, a bit too far.

    Character creation is standard Fate Accelerated: approaches as normal, an aspect for high concept, which should a quick summary of the character, a trouble, and a third mundane life or personality aspect. Then, three power stunts and up to three regular stunts, following Venture City. See Character creation rules for the details.

    I plan to set the game as Read Only once we get started, if that matters to you. I'm aiming for 4-6 players with a post frequency of 2-3 times a week, plus as much IC discussion as you want.

    Good King Finellen has tasked you with a quest to travel to the Outlands.  There, somewhere in the depths of the Dwarven Mountain, a cure for the mysterious ailment stoneblood is said to reside, at least according to his court seer.  Your people's numbers in Highhome have been dwindling for centuries, and should you fail, it could be the end of the once great stronghold.

    No pressure though.  You guys got this!

    Tone:  Light-hearted and fun despite the seriousness of the quest.  You're dwarves afterall!  You can't help but be brazenly flippant in the face of overwhelming odds, tragic fate, and almost certain doom.  Plus the beermakers of the Dwarven Mountain are legendary!  That might even make the trip more worth it than saving your people.
