Empire! MW Creative Corner
Empire is a Collaborative Worldbuilding game originally based on the Crusader Kings II video game and adapted to a play-by-post environment. It has undergone multiple changes through its play on GitP, tuning, wide sweeping changes, and adjustments and will likely adjust as it is played; however, at the heart of the game remains its competitive nature. As said by a veteran and GM of the game on GitP:
Quote“Empire's whole goal is a possibility space where there are enough voices that you don't just have one or two people dictating the course of events, that eventually comes to a natural conclusion that leaves you with a compelling story.” - TheDarkDM
Just like CKII players get out of Empire! what they put into it and will tell their own stories. Most of the time the story one player wants to tell will conflict with a story another player wants to tell, sometimes they cooperate. This conflict and cooperation is to be expected and even embraced with Empire! just like any kind of Player vs. Player interaction.
Like any other game, be kind and courteous and understanding of the people you are playing with, roll with the IC punches, and try your best to remember it's just a game. (Chimi)
This creative corner aims to explain the Empire! game as well as provide a central location for the community on Myth weavers to discuss the rules, recruit players, provide suggestions and feedback as well as ask questions to run the rules themselves.
QuoteThese Rules have been modified and adjusted for play-by-post on Mythweavers by SerakHawk with permission from Morph Bark the Original Creator of the Empire! ruleset on Giant in the Playgrounds.

Empire!4 Reloaded: A nation and world building game [Discord]
Empire!4 Reloaded
GMs: PotatoPriest, Zayuz, Avonthes
With special thanks to Rolepgeek, Minescratcher, Lleban, and Tentreto for writing the rules,
Rolepgeek, Minescratcher and Tentreto for writing some of our lore posts,
And the fantastic Lleban for the map.
Welcome to Empire!4 Reloaded! This is an offshoot of the Empire! series of play-by-post worldbuilding and nation building games. The current main title in this series is Minescratcher’s Empire!8. This offshoot game is aimed at recruiting newer players and giving them a classic Empire experience with a simpler and more archaic rule set. If you were a player in Empire 1, 2, 3, or 4, we love you but you are ineligible to play in Empire4! Reloaded.
We aim to recruit around 20 players, and recruiting will remain open until we do, though the game is scheduled to begin on May 26.
Setting
One hundred years ago, Dejan the Golden arrived at the site of his final conquest. He had fought in every corner of the known world; broke bread and bones with every people, and united them all under a single banner. His empire, powerful and vast, was to bring an eternal peace to the varied lands of Emjata - but it was not to be. On the eve of his final conquest he was struck down by a bolt of lightning from the sky, and since that day the Avakonian Empire has been in a spiral of decay and misfortune that has allowed new powers to spring to life, as well as the reassertion of the old that have been trampled by the great conqueror. Nobody knows why Dejan was smote by lightning: some say that he was struck down by the gods for his hubris. Others claim the powerful magic of a jealous rival. Others still whisper that in his great valiance he was uplifted to divinity itself, but with time the truth has only become more obscured.
Welcome to the lands of Emjata, where the world once conquered and ruled by the glorious Avakonian Empire has begun to fracture and collapse under the weight of its complexity and decadence. EMPIRE! has the player take on the role of a faction that controls land, resources, and military might over many generations of rulers, the form of which can be as you please. Forge history with and against your fellow powers! As this is a collaborative worldbuilding game, but also a social strategy game, be ready to fight while remembering not to tread on the enjoyment of other players.
Featuring warfare, intrigue, romance and politics, we encourage players to generally follow a tone befitting an analogous fall of the (fantasy) Roman Empire with the expected content being rated 16+. As the writer of your own faction, you may choose the general tone that your writing sets within this sphere. This game also uses a community discord server. Participation in the discord is not mandatory, but encouraged since a lot of political deals happen there.

Encounter at Station 54
More than 700 years ago, a bright purple streak shot across the night sky. Over the coming weeks, the Earth fell into a deep winter, the seas raged and ash rained from the sky. The event became known as the Awis. As resources dwindled, winter became longer and summer shorter, people struggled to survive. Wars erupted, people starved, some fleeing their ancestral homes before creeping ice sheets.
But people survived. Tribes adapted. And in the wake, people began to notice a strange purple mark appearing on people, plants and animals alike. It became known as the Adahnehdi, the Gift, and many took it as a sign that the Great Spirit had not given up on them.
Eventually, the weather began to ease, the Earth began to heal, and new nations arose. New sciences and technologies, born out of necessity, led to a discovery about the Adahnehdi. It wasn't just a mark, it was a path to abilities and powers, beyond normal human limits.
Now, 700 years after the world was brought to the brink, a new chapter has begun. Your characters enter a world that is healing but is no less dangerous. The ice sheets are retreating and the seas are calming, but what lay out beyond your borders? The treaties and alliances that made so much sense during the long winters are now eroding and old grudges between nations are not so easily forgotten. New technologies arise almost every day and the rate of change is frightening for some. And then there are the stories. Talk of spirits, monsters, beings of legend. For so many they were just tales to be told around the fire. But now there is talk that these legends may be far more literal than you may have previously believed. Has something awakened them?

Encounter Format Test Game
The game's a single encounter, where I'd like to try an encounter format I came up with specifically for pbp. According to my hopes, it's shorter, less complicated, more creative than the traditional approach, while still structured and based on character abilities.
All in all, I'd like to unify encounters (combat, social, exploration, whatever else you can think of) into a single, consistent, creative, fun, and system-agnostic format. Since the format is an add-on to a game, I still need a system, this time it's 5e.
The encounter has Hp (which I call progress), the characters can 'damage' it and when it runs out of Hp it's solved. However, every turn the encounter itself can 'attack', which can mean a lot of different things.
In this particular encounter, it inflicts time, and events that hinder the PCs. It's about getting across a river. It has three stages, depending on the current Hp (progress): this side, middle, other side. Each stage has its own list of events, each of which defines the losses and the necessary rolls.
During each turn, after the turn's event is revealed but before making any rolls, every player can activate any character ability or use any item in creative ways to get bonuses either for making progress or dealing with the turn's event. Or whatever rolls you make. Tell me what you use, you'll get some bonuses.
The very simple story: The Enemy is a dark presence rising in the west. Lady Paula Karamito, a paladin of some renown went to investigate a few months ago. A few days ago the town where the PCs are staying received a message from her by a homing pigeon: Two children have witnessed an agent of the Enemy. I've escorted them near Wideford and sent them there. I left them to draw away the pursuers, but it's only a matter of time before they find the children. Get them before they are caught.
You are the people sent by the town to rescue the kids and the lore they have. You are standing on this side of the river, watching the two frightened kids holding each other's hands on the other side. The task is time-critical, as you can see a group of riders approaching in the distance, by the group's estimation about half an hour from the ford.
All players with a finished character will be accepted to the game, and I'll make (or you'll make) groups of up to five to play through the encounter. I'm looking for short-term fun, and lots of useful feedback on the idea.

Endless Dungeon
In the ancient annals of magical history, there exists a tale whispered among the bravest adventurers, a story of a dungeon unlike any other. It was at a time where all most dangerous dungeons, created by the most powerful entities in existence were being conquered one by one, by the sheer number of adventurers or really powerful experienced ones. When the Age of Dungeons was ending, a millennia ago, in a time when the arcane arts were still at their zenith, a cabal of the most powerful mages gathered in secret to create a challenge that would defy the bravest heroes and prove the indomitable will of magic over mortal strength.
This cabal, known as the Arcanum Conclave, chose a desolate and remote location, far from the prying eyes of civilization, to construct their labyrinthine masterpiece. Through a combination of ancient rituals, forbidden incantations, and sacrificial magic, they forged a dungeon that defied the laws of reality itself. A living dungeon capable of restoring itself, learn with its mistakes and constantly grow.
The Endless Dungeon, as it came to be known, was a twisted amalgamation of shifting corridors, deadly traps, and malevolent guardians. Its architecture defied comprehension, with staircases that led to nowhere, rooms that rearranged themselves at will, and walls that whispered ancient secrets to those who dared to listen. Each chamber within the dungeon was a test of both skill and wit, designed to confound and ensnare even the most seasoned adventurer. From bottomless pits to halls filled with illusions, from rooms that inverted gravity to corridors shrouded in eternal darkness, the challenges within the Endless Dungeon were as varied as they were deadly. Always changing and adapting to those that tried to invade its impenetrable walls.
Over the centuries, countless adventurers have dared to brave the depths of the Endless Dungeon, drawn by the promise of unimaginable riches and the glory of conquering the unconquerable. At its highest of popularity, thousands of brave adventurers dared entering its halls to face the deadly dungeon each year. Most of them were never heard again, lost forever to the bowels of the dungeon. A few returned with their lives, not intact, but mangled, broken and telling stories of incredible riches and weird experiences. None of the survivors have succeeded in conquering the dungeon and desired to return for another attempt.
With time, the Age of Dungeons ended. The Endless Dungeon was almost forgotten. A whole city was created around it, initially to provide support for the constant stream of adventurers, later in an uneasy truce with the dungeon. Less and less adventurers arrived to test their might against the dungeon, until only a few appeared each decade.
You are one of these few stragglers...

Ethereal Odyssey - The Polarodduhss Paradox
Title: Ethereal Odyssey - The Polarodduhss Paradox
Theme --> Mobitex - Wind of no change
Hello all myth weavers again (long-time since i was last here... heh)! Welcome to "Ethereal Odyssey - The Polarodduhss Paradox" an adventure set in the distant future of the year 2625 AD. -- yeah, a new game that I'm basing it on my upcoming book of the same name, so it has quite a developed universe around it...
In here we are going to take part of the colony crew of Pioneer's Hope, decelerating from warp space to land at Polarodduhss, a lush jungle world filled with untold secrets. This epic campaign combines elements of science fiction, ancient mythology, and cosmic spirituality. Are you ready to unravel the mysteries of Polarodduhss?
Setting
The journey starts on board Pioneer's Hope, a cutting-edge spacecraft designed for colonization and exploration. They are en route to Polarodduhss, a terraformed planet twice the size of Earth with a higher gravity field of 1.4 G, that sports 12 artificially added moons. Originally a rogue, sunless world drifting through interstellar space, it was captured by the Terran Union and placed in orbit around the orange dwarf star, August XCZ447, also known as Kayathaar's Blast. The location of the star is very near the outer rims of the central galactic bulge of the Milky Way Galaxy.Though it took around 2 centuries, Polarodduhss now thrives with exotic jungles, towering canopies, and enigmatic ruin-like pillars of rock—making it a haven of scientific wonder and potential dangers. You are among the few selected to explore this newfound paradise and shape its future.
The Plot
The year is 2625, and you are among the crew and pioneers aboard the massive exploration and colonization ship, Pioneer's Hope. After what feels like an eternity traversing through warped hyperspace, you are finally approaching your destination: the star system of Kayathaar's Blast and the mysterious planet named Polarodduhss.
Your mission is seemingly straightforward — disembark on this untamed, artificially seeded and terraformed, jungle planet, twice the size of Earth and graced with a gravity of 1.4 G, and lay the foundations for a new human city. The planet's vast, bioluminescent jungles and towering rock formations present their own challenges, but so does the unknown.
As you descend towards the planet, you can't shake the feeling that you're about to step into a much larger world, one filled with wonders and dangers you can't yet comprehend. Your captain speaks of building a new home for humanity, but what waits for you in the depths of those glowing jungles?
The ship's engines hum as you enter the atmosphere, and for a moment, you wonder what stories you'll be able to tell when this is all over—or if you'll even be there to tell them. The celestial drama above fades as you touch down, replaced by the immediate, pressing concerns of survival, exploration, and the haunting question that gnaws at the back of your mind: what else is out there?
How we will begin:
First scene will happen as it will happen in the book. We are all in the process of decelerating from warped hyperspace (a different approach i took to interstellar travel that is a bit more dramatic), then after character introductions and interactions with some of the main characters of the book, the ship will begin it's descent on Polarodduhss to begin the colonization efforts.

"Ethereal Odyssey - The Polarodduhss Paradox"
Oh, yeah, I'm looking for a starting crew of 5 players, but the game may begin at 3 active and approved players.
I will be closing the gate at 8 maximum or when the advertising time stops.
Also if you feel like you can manage two or maximum 3 character, that would count as occupying two seats or max 3. So i'm all for daring players that have the skills to manage multiple character arcs 🥳
I'd like to emphasize that even if the game has already started, newcomers are always welcome to join as long as I have available seats. Moreover, even if the table is full, I'd love for you to join our Discord and engage in discussions or simply chat about the game. Your participation and insights are always valued. The players and I hope to see you there 😁!Perpetually shifting Number until the table remains fixed 0/8 seats left (Currently full)
Statements:
As this book is nearly finished, what we do here will have no impact what-so-ever on the already developed universe and lore, but it is instead a sorts of fan-fiction based on the adventures that will take place in there.
So as to not cause undue expectations and worries, nothing here will become part of the book, nor will any characters be mentioned in the actual book as it will screw with the entirety of the already established flow of the story.Copyright Notice

Expedition to Undermountain
No one knows what lurks in the depths of the mad archmage’s halls . . . But you’re about to find out.
Day, night, I can no longer tell. Gargoyles carried off the wizard while we were roping our way down Belkram’s Fall. Evendur the paladin fell beneath the axe of a blood-maddened minotaur two rests later, then Ironhewer stumbled into a magical portal and vanished screaming. We dared not follow him. It is said that these halls hide treasure beyond imagining, but even if we found Halaster’s hoard in the next chamber, we are so hopelessly lost that I doubt I would live to spend a copper of it.
- - -Underdark beckons, friend. Dare you venture in?
If you do, step over the threshold and come make a first level character.
You might just live long enough to enjoy the spoils.

Fast Times at Fortuna High
Fast Times at Fortuna High will use the Kids on Brooms TTRPG system--a spinoff of Kids on Bikes--to tell a story about a group of inexperienced teachers faced with the sudden disappearance of the senior faculty of their magical school. It will be set in a world much like our own, albeit with a few key differences. For example, World Wrestling Entertainment went out of business in the mid-2000s, Disney scrapped its planned Star Wars sequel trilogy... oh, and superheroes exist. It's sharing a world with an ongoing MASKS game, and characters and events may sometimes cross over.
We're hoping to find a couple of players looking to become borderline obsessive about a group of young professionals who are in way over their heads and to tell a collaborative story where dice are rolled occasionally. Once we're rolling, the game's post rate will likely be fairly intense by PBP standards: potentially as high as a post per day or even more. (We're an enthusiastic bunch of weirdos.) I can't guarantee that sort of post rate, but it's been known to happen. If this sounds enticing instead of like a huge, obnoxious hassle to keep up with, here are the application instructions.
As far as tone and content: think Abbot Elementary, Cobra Kai, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the Dresden Files, and the later Harry Potter books. We're aiming for an adult-oriented workplace comedy that occasionally dips into more serious fantasy drama. Cursing and adult subject matter are fine within the boundaries of MythWeaver's rules and what everyone's comfortable with.
We'll be primarily using Discord to communicate OOC.

On practically every town board and on the lips of every town crier is only one name: Almendrud. Six heroes heard this nobleman is in search of adventurers to aid him in a new expedition. They are told to meet his associate in a tall tower known as Archeologicus Post.
Are you one of these six heroes? Do you have a connection to Lord Almendrud, or his associate? Or did you hear of this opportunity through other means? Perhaps your a pre-formed adventuring party looking for whatever jobs come your way. Or you are a group of archeologists looking to prove your worth. Whatever the case, you traveled to Goboan, and arrived at the tower alongside several others and now stand waiting to enter.

Fiends
The blood war has waged for uncounted eons, since history began, and perhaps even before it. However, both the demons and devils know that the true prize is the prime material plane, and even if it takes an eon or two to arrange a meeting, it's still going to happen when you live forever.
So it was that a group of the highest ranking arch devils and demon princes met to hatch a fiendish plot. A gate would be built, but it would be no ordinary gate. This would transport a select cadre of both camps to the Prime, transmogrifying them as it did so that they would no longer be beholden to the rules for outsider travel, but would instead have unfettered access to that most prized location. This elite group would set up a base and begin the preparations for full scale invasion, and the rich harvest of souls could then begin. Perhaps even the blood war could be ended.
And so it was, another eon later, that the selected army of high ranking demons and devils were assembled before the gate that had been built by the mage smiths of both races, deep in Pluton, the lowest plane of Hades. Of course choosing the middle ground required the services of the Yugoloths to act as mediators, the price for which was their own contingent in the invading army.
Intoning horrible words of power, the gate was opened, and the army stepped through.
Needless to say, both sides were lying. End the blood war? Share the Prime with the hated enemy? Not bloody likely. Both powers were needed to make the gate work, but neither side had any intention of letting the other through. The devils, arch crafters of law, delved deep into their wellspring, and crafted a law lattice as an integral part of their half of the gate, against which the creatures of chaos would be smashed. The demons for their part, no slouches when it came to backstabbery, delved into their own lore and crafted the metaphysical equivalent of a thorny hedge, against which the creatures of law would be helpless, ripped asunder. Not only were the Yugoloths aware of the double treachery, they were involved in the creation of both lattice and hedge, and then of course spent time building warding spells that would ensure their contingent passed through both barriers, leaving the demons and devils behind
It goes without saying that the hedge and the lattice didn't sit well together, but instead merged into something truly terrifying. As soon as the army passed through the gate there was a titanic explosion. It not only killed all those in the Gate room, it wiped the entire lower plane of Hades from existence.
The elite cadre of Ta'anari, Baatezu and Yugoloths that entered the gate didn't fare too well either. Most were utterly annihilated by the hedge lattice construct. Only a very few were able to push past/through the construct to the Prime beyond, but each of those suffered horribly. The first things to go were their items, weapons and armour. Enough magical equipment to sate a god of avarice was stripped away and torn to shreds by the insatiable lattice hedge, and as those few creatures continued forward, it began to tear away at their essence. Eons of training, knowledge and power were torn away like so many leaves in a wind storm. By the end of it, those few that were left and managed to battle past the lattice hedge had regressed so far that they were, once again, eggs...Eggs though that quickly hatched, spilling their newly formed prime bound outsiders into the world...- D&D 3.5e

Fight for Redemption
Fight for Redemption is a homebrew setting I created...far longer back than I would care to contemplate, following the remnants of a corrupt, expansionist empire undone by weapons of their own making. In cryosleep for several hundred years, believing the gene-engineered weapons of the Core Republic, the Jaretul, were not fully defeated. These scraps rejected the orders to return to the central planets, instead entering a long watch over the frontier planets they guarded.
Previously this was run in D20 Future, because back in 2007 that was the system that seemed best suited. Now it's been converted to Stars Without Number, which meshes with it far better and helps capture a bit more of the grittiness of a war-oriented campaign.
This will be a military campaign, with players as natives of the planet that is about to get hit by a Jaretul remnant fleet. The Jaretul are intent on gathering the resources to begin to rebuild their forces using the planet’s inorganic and organic resources. Players will be, through circumstances, operating as a special operations squad. There will be larger battles that take place, but the party will not be a frontline unit. Actions by the party, whether a mission success or failure, will have an impact on the greater strategic situation.
Players should expect a more lethal game, with the very real possibility of needing to make a new character. There will be some "horrors of war" elements, but within reason. This is Myth Weavers, and it will be in line with the site content rules.Characters are born and raised on Zannqu, and live and work currently in New Ry-ur, one of the largest metropolises on the planet. Home to one of the main spaceports and the second largest "Cities of Art," it is filled with artists and scientists on top of all the usual sorts to be expected from a large city. Unknown to the population, back when the Jaretul/Core Republic War took place, the planet was subjected to one of the rogue science experiments meant to help the populace against the Jaretul. Characters will wind up incorporated into military forces very quickly in the campaign but are not expected to be military or law enforcement, more average Joes/Janes.
Recently news leaked of an outbound probe catching images of ships not recognized by any historians slowly entering the system periphery, and since the leak it has been headline news for several days. When the characters look at the images it causes a fair amount of discomfort and headaches, like they almost recognize them, even if everyone around them seems fine when viewing the same.
A Jaretul remnant fleet has awoken, and found a new planet to harvest...

Please make a character application thread in the Applications Folder.I'm Colin, longtime GM both at the table and via Play-by-Post. I tend towards primarily sci-fi settings, and may have a bit of a reputation for allowing the dice to kill characters. I do not have the view that players are the enemy, I just let the dice lie where they fall and believe it leads to great roleplaying potential.
On Ducj (SerakHawk) - well I'm Ducj. I do Ducj things and tell Ducj tales. My preferences tend toward storytelling first mentality, with mild horror / puzzle solving angles cropping in up in most of my own games. I'm editor in chief and rubber ducj supreme to ensure he doesn't commit terrible crimes against plot continuity.
